Not such a great deal, the 255 is more modern and capable, has all the latest SW updates and can do triathlon as well.
Massive plus is the multiband GPS that is found only on other high end Garmin's.
For 10/20£ more I would choose the 255. (edited)

Can you use navigation in 255?

Rather an old model now (released in September 2020). It was certainly a good watch in its day but, if £200 was my budget, then I would be inclined to go for the forerunner 255 which is a couple of years younger and has a similar feature set. It is currently £210 from Garmin direct as long as you have access to one of the many affiliate discount platforms e.g. BLC, Vitality, TOTUM, Unidays etc (edited)

One thing to be aware of is that the 255 for £210 is the non music version. The 745 has music onboard as standard. The music forerunner 255 is £245.

I bought the Fenix 5S off eBay (used) for £102. Was that a good deal all?

Its alright. Good watch, older model now but still has everything you need.

Got the 745 as a free upgrade when a 645 broke, it's basic but it does everything I need. If buying new though I'm not sure it's what I'd choose, simply due to age.

Me too. I'm paranoid about getting it wet though as my 2 prev 645s both broke for this reason. What happened with yours?

Decent watch. Still takes longer than the old 735xt to find satellites though. As people have previously said 255 is a better watch. I'm a bit paranoid about swimming in any triathlon watch though after 2 failures (which seems daft for a watch meant for swimming!)
