hotukdeals.com/deals/garmin-fenix-5-slate-grey-redrockuk-ebay-store-for-26995-using-code-3139708 What?

Bagz

Got a link?

shappinbegs

Yes. Like for example this watch is now £269.99 from another Garmin approved retailer. The site if for good deals, I think its fair to point out in the comments that while £10 cheaper than the next cheapest price is the best deal - it's likely to be cheaper in the next few days.

jagriffiths

Then they removed after 10 mins for the rest of the day from blacks, millets and ultimate outdoors.... They also honoured the glitch for the few who got them

gazjon

So you think this is hotukbestguesses. We all know prices MAY go down, so your comment is pointless. Over time, a lot of items posted in hotukdeals will be lower at some point. Do we all then urge people to wait, til then?

I think this is the lowest the Fenix 5 has been. It's about £20 cheaper than Amazon at the moment. Shame it's not the sapphire model but it's a good price.

apologies, got confused, so many garmin links flying about! :D

The deal posted isn't the plus?

shappinbegs

This post is for the normal 5. The plus is no longer available

this is the normal 5, not the plus. it is the old version.

jagriffiths

Just got my dispatch confirmation too...thanks blacks

Muppethunter

Just had the dispatched confirmation

Deeko

Sorry, I was referring to the plus models - the 5 plus doesn't have good enough battery life. I have a 5X at the moment - the reason that the 5 has better battery life is due to the lack of maps. I got the 5X for those although they're not that easy to read. Run faster?! I wish that was an option!!! 😁😁😁

villageidiotdan

Thanks so much, i appreciate the time you've taken to respond

FTheK

I upgraded from a 235 to a VA3. VA3 is more up to date and has quite a few new and upgraded features, only downside I've really noticed is that it's touchscreen rather than buttons, which is annoying but not a deal braker for me. Upgrades are the screen quality, app/watch face availability, altimeter, more sports, flush HR monitor, better smart watch functionality, garmin pay (though not many banks yet), and general aesthetics if you're planning to wear it to work etc. If they're the same price I'd say the VA3 is a no brainer, if the 235 was considerably cheaper then it would be harder to call, depends whether you want a running /cycling watch or a more day to day watch that's also good for sports.

villageidiotdan

Is this better than the vivoactive 3?

SomeOtherBloke

Stay in your starting blocks... it’s bound to be cheaper after Christmas.

andrewp

Cheaper elsewhere as others have said and will probably drop again in the post christmas sales

The main thing for me is I would rather have a £150 purpose built computer out front in the elements than my £600 iPhone. I know which one is going to survive better in a crash/rain/falling off the bike.

You can use HRM and cadence sensors on a phone.

Bagz

I don't get your point..... :/

Yeah right; watch out Sagan et al., Bagz is coming up the rear ..

Commuters might want to improve as well, like becoming faster and more efficient using hrm and cadence data.

Same here, particularly if I wear it to bed as it monitors sleep patterns. Just don;t wear it to bed any more and I'm fine.

Db.

I get the same problem on my wrist, I where it a couple of days then swap it on to the other wrist. It helps but hasn’t stopped it

SomeOtherBloke

Not usually listed at RRP on amazon. This is a good price and about what I paid on Prime Day. A screen protector is a wise add-on buy. To monitor my HR continuously I was only taking the watch off to shower. But eventually the strap started to aggravate my skin. No idea if that’s a common thing or just me?

Good to know Rob. Garmins in the past have refused to get on with Huawei whatsoever. Looks like you've had some level of success.

fuzzy_logic

I have one of these. Not the nicest looking watch, but in terms on functionality I'm pretty pleased with it. GPS works well once connected - can sometimes take a while to connect. Never had an issue syncing with my phone - I have a 1st gen Google Pixel. Also The Garmin app/Strava integration works pretty well.

robrymonduk

No issues with an Honor 8x and this model for me. Doesn't sync when you auto turn Bluetooth on unless you go into the programme but works fine then

superfreddy

Back in stock. Is X Large still ok for normal wrists?

Masteryates

Just be aware that Garmin products never play nice with Huawei/Honor phones. Garmin don't appear to have ever sorted this out or have a solution.

I think it comes down to priority. If it's sports tracking buy this, if its smart features buy the Samsung. I have the Samsung buy I'm considering this.

Got the music version and yep great watch. Same reaction from the straps, always end up replacing with metal ones...

philhib1964

Had mine about a year now and quite impressed. Battery ok even when mainly in GPS mode. Have found to be quite accurate especially cycling, running, walking and swimming modes. Only downside for me is the reaction i get from the strap sometimes but i think this is common amongst all these watches with similar straps.

dipsylalapo

I know you don't your phone :P I just need to move banks to something that works with Garmin, meanwhile we have Google Pay supporting a lot of banks but is unavailable for this.

blodnik

Yep. I have used mine all year, at first the shot detection was a bit flaky but a few updates sorted that. It is now used at least once a week, links well with my iPhone and the app gives good stats. I wanted a watch for golf, walking and cycling and this is still one of the best options out there, great battery life too.

mclean

This is a brilliant watch . Never had an issue on my samsung phone and have absolutely no need to use it to pay for something. I use this as a daily watch and fitness tracker. GPS locks super quick, it's all I need. The app is also really good. I paid £220 a few months ago and don't feel too unhappy about that

hotrod2

You don't need your phone for Garmin Pay.... Just your watch. But I do agree that for mobile based solutions I don't get why it isn't just google pay and apple pay.
