Picked mine up today. Brand new. Thanks

rylo_c

Got mine from Wallasey on Sunday after asking them to put it away from me on the Friday night. They had checked the price over the phone and confirmed the £89.50. The lad was shocked and I was surprised one of the workers didn’t keep it for themselves! Anyway the mrs drove across to get it on the Sunday and it rang up as £220 :o luckily the lad who I spoke to on the phone was there and confirmed that it had been the £89 so got it for that price thankfully. It’s a Father’s Day gift so I haven’t had it out properly yet but I’ve had a very quick look in the box and it is basically a brand new unit with all the mounts etc. The only problem I can see is a little rip on the box. There are no extra components such as HR strap or anything but I’m very happy with what I did get. So thank you OP as you’ve saved me (well the mrs actually!) a few quid there (y) (y) (y)

bonzobanana

You could get a alcatel 3.5 screen android mobile phone for sub £20 with GPS I think, powerbanks at poundland and you could get one of those free sims from three that give you 200MB of data for nothing every month. You could be up and running with gps, constant internet connection etc for very little money. A bit of customisation and settings adjustment might work very well to optimise it towards being a cycle computer/gps. However its being able to view the screen I think that would be the problem. Might need an anti-glare filter and perhaps an app that changes the output of the display, to make it easier to see in sunlight, exceptionally high contrast black/white etc. I think getting a phone with a high brightness display would be the ideal solution. Unsure what the best equipment would be but the Garmin solution seems overly expensive.

t5pilot1965

Battery life primarily, these last much longer than a cheap phone would, much smaller/lighter to mount on your bike too

Roph

Can someone explain why on earth you'd pay £184 (!!) for this instead of using a cheap android device for a fraction of the price?

edgunn

Think so. Look Germany based. Trustpilot score of 8.3 but not bought from them myself yet. Not a Wiggle/CRC score but better than Halfords/Evans Cycles.

What’s the cheapest way to sign up with BC? Haven’t cycled much since I came off my bike a few years ago so not sure that I’d use any other benefits.

I have small wrists (can't wear most smartwatches) but can wear the 5s comfortably all day, it's much smaller than some of the previous Fenix watches.

Is this big given it’s the smallest version they make the Fenix 5 in?

Happened to me three years ago when I was travelling through Europe that my phone's charging port broke in Germany. When I realised, it was too late, I had no phone and no GPS . When I stopped at the first petrol station to see if I could buy a GPS or another phone, I realised that my car's water pump is about to go, coolant was leaking. We were lucky with my wife's phone and the offline iGo installed on it. I wish I had a proper GPS device. :)

Personal choice, much larger screen, improved interface, allegedly superior GPS? They seem to be cheaper and cheaper as time goes on, which is good for anyone who wants to buy them. I personally use my phone when needed for navigation but each to their own.. ;)

I picked mine up on 29th May and first charge was yesterday. Impressive battery life on these!

mooo

Update. The battery life on mine is still holding up. I haven't charged it since I picked it up last Thursday. At the moment the battery life is now at 29% and that's after a weekend Parkrun and a 10K run over the Bank Holiday weekend. I'll probably get another day out of it before having it put it on charge.

Dealz4u

Picked mine up today, Open box but is like brand new.

sweeney87

He offered me the display one for 50 with no box firstly and then gave me the new one for 90 so might be worth asking for a new one at the price first

gslgregory

I reserved one. Received a phone call to say there was no box or instructions. It had been out on display. However, because of the missing items, he'd reduce it further to £80. Seems reasonable!

wakeywarrior

I have a 235 and it’s the only smart watch I kept, sold all the rest. It’s a great watch, so imagine this is even better but I’m not sure I’d pay the extra.

Baccus

My son is now on his third Fenix 5S, the first two having been replaced under warranty in just four months. Both had the same issue (large white spot, possibly condensation, appearing on the face of the watch and getting after sea swimming). Currently waiting for customer services to collect the third watch (unused so may still have the same issue) as the cheeky buggers sent a refurbished one. No explanation or apology for the fault and took lots of 'discussion' to get them to agree to send a 'new' watch to replace the refurbished one. 'Watch' this space!. Needless to say I can't recommend.

bobjack83

Had mine for roughly a year now outstanding watch even relegated my good dress watch to the top drawer for a while at this price it’s a bargain as well as running biking etc it’s also got the golf gps built in

chapati_monsta

Not that this is much help, but Garmin were selling these for 1999DKK at Copenhagen Marathon last weekend (about £230). Makes me wonder if a Fenix 6/7 is around the corner. If anyone knows of a good 935XT deal...

papasb

i have owned several smart watches from the Gear S, Apple Watch Series 0, Microsoft Band 2 and now this... This is by far the best and most used. Battery life is staggering. The sports tracking is very good as well - it includes skydiving! I mainly use for Golf, Running, Walking and Cycling plus the other standard features of steps, heart rate and stress monitoring. Cracking watch.

All came through the next working day from Wiggle (didn't pay for express delivery). Got a 100+ miles on the first ride - easy to set-up and customise the data fields (as well as adding user-designed faces / dashboards). Unit worked perfectly (as did cadence and HRM). Live updates to my wife worked through to Strava was really hand - looked like a good number of other riders had the 520 as well. Would recommend - thanks again OP.

It does include them. I bought the bundle which includes the HRM and S&C sensors. So you get everything with this kit. What I like best about it is it DOESN'T USE BLOODY ZIP TIES! Picked mine up yesterday and took it for a run today. It doesn't look as nice as my Samsung S3 or feel as well made but it works so much better for fitness. Haven't come across any issues yet and the battery looks like it will last about 4 days ish but then I have been playing with it a lot.

stuartc

I got John Lewis to price match this today so I can replace my Samsung S3 for running. Hopefully I will get a good one but at least it will be covered for two years. Looking forward to picking it up tomorrow.

purplehornet

Bought this a while back - a word of warning, there's a known issue with the GPS (on some units) tracking short. Around 350-400m over a 5k in my case. A real shame as I had the Vivoactive HR beforehand which was rock solid. Pretty disappointed tbh

AlDente

I also bought one on the Treasure Truck for £159 last week with the aim to replace my ageing Fenix 3. Unless you're a hardcore fitness fanatic, then the vivoactive 3 has all the useful fitness features that the Fenix 3 does (plus HR monitor) so is great value for money. However, I just couldn't get on with the touchscreen. I found it fiddly and not as responsive as I hoped. I just prefer buttons to select the options. I also preferred the look of the Fenix 3 when compared side-by-side, so I sent it back and will stick with my Fenix 3 for now.

buddn07

I had one of these on release day and quite liked it. Got rid and upgraded to a 935 though.
