Best soul calibur since the early days...and gameplay is the best thing this fighter does..variety maybe not...pure calibur
Yeah I agree, it reminds me too much of soulcalibur 2 on the Dreamcast. After playing games like mortal kombat X and injustice 2 where you can interact more with the environment it just seems like time has stood still. I had an issue with the game pausing for a couple seconds during a fight as if it was loading some animation from disk but I assume these are teething issues as it gets patched. It's a good game and worth buying but I just wish they brought more polish for it to make it stand out more and have more of that arcade pull.
The gameplay in Soul Calibur is far more approachable to a casual fighting fan than any of the fighting games you mentioned. The gameplay holds up well in the game, but the overall package does come across as cheap in comparison to other fighters. It feels like a budget title even if the gameplay is great.
I got it for £30 on release and loved it. Definitely my favourite fighting game from the past couple of years, and I played and enjoyed many of the big ones (Street Fighter V, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary, Tekken 7, Injustice 2). For £15 I'd definitely recommend this.
It's a little bit ropey on the gameplay. Doesn't seem to have evolved as much as the other fighters such as Streetfighter, Tekken and Mortal Kombat.
