Hope it helps!
N.B. Also if you're curious as to what other options are available - Xiaomi are doing their Mi Band 8 Pro for £49.49 after coupons on their official store. It's smidge bigger but has GPS and a glass screen. (edited)
I bought a Huawei Band 8, as it tested really well for heart tracking, not too far off the very expensive Apple and the purpose made body band trackers, but in test it did terribly for sleep tracking, beyond registering when you were asleep, so I bought a Fitbit Inspire 3 to cover that. More than I wanted to spend but it was on a Prime Day sale, so.
I noticed in some reviews there was some tracking variance between production line samples of the Band 8, which I also hope they have improved, consistency wise. Looking forward to checking out the reviews. The Huawei Band 8 did consistently much better than the similarly priced Xiaomi and other budget trackers that I looked into, at least for heart tracking. For sleep, the Fitbit, of the 'affordable' trackers, seemed to do consistently well, again only a little short of Apple watches and professional kit.
Even if your Band 8 and Fitbit Inspire 3 wildly disagree on how many thousands of footsteps you've taken in a day... there's something inspiring about seeing you've at least met, or exceeded target. Encouraging and fun! (edited)
I mean, after some horrible downgrades from Xiaomi, I'm really hoping Huawei don't go that way, hoping this is a sensor/software upgrade on an already market-leading product, the Huawei Band 8. Again, if you can, if buying for for sleep tracking and you can't afford the professional kit or an expensive Apple Watch, go for one of the Fitbits, even my cheap Inspire 3 does a fairly good job, beyond simply tracking when you fell asleep/woke.
Re the Huawei Band 9, I'm very keen to see how it measures, would probably wait, simply because I have the Huawei Band 8, until some of the more thorough reviewers get their hands on one, for instance The Quantified Scientist (though in this case demand for a review was so massive, this review is relatively short/rushed); at least he bought two samples.
