Carphone BEWAREHOUSE very bad uncaring customer service, Do yourself a favour shop at a caring retailer like John Lewis or amazon. COLD as a company

You cancel the Vodafone contract immediately without having to pay the first month.

Sorry but I value my time spent filling in forms in the shop, the credit check and sitting in a queue to cancel at more than £4.50 or about a 1% saving. (lol)

Seems like a great price... apologies if already posted

I didn't go into detail as I felt it would have detracted slightly. The Mate 10 Pro also has a very high quality lens assembly in its camera.

There is more then just that about camera in mate 10 pro got OIS stabilization, 2x loose-less zoom, f1.6 (better photos in low light) and most important pretty good drop test reviews... was on fence myself, but found great deal on ebay for 300 new (+50 paid ebay ;) so bought mate 10 pro... Also, if you need 3.5mm jack, just use adapter ! its not like it doesnt support 3.5mm jack... 128gb is more then enough and you got water resistance to justify missing sd slot... good for me...

You do realise Steve Jobs was famously known for being proud of copying everyone right?

Typical Apple sheep-ism

Copying other android phones that made the 'notch' before apple stole the idea? Lol.

....same price on Amazon just in case you prefer but both are good for returns if not satisfied

Reads EXACTLY the same as Huawei P Smart (Which I have and it's fantastic. Premier materials in a budget Smartphone was one reviewers statement and he hit the nail on the head. fast and great) Clearly just the P Smart with another name - Even the "Honor" at the bottom bezel is same font same style as the "Huawei" on mine GOOD deal (Just read Honor is a "sub-brand" of Huawei. That explains the lack of "Huawei" then ! ;))

Great price for a phone with a 6 month battery warranty.

Dixon's Carphone and JLP will always match... Just depends how quickly the account managers pick it up

Anyways returning mine to CPW, bought one from Argos ebay for £127. which is obviously better deal!

Only 6 months on the battery from Honor. I am assuming JL would cover for 2 years. Cant find anywhere where they say that they wouldnt. £23 for 2 years battery warranty (as well as everything else) is worth it, i think. Though have to say if i hadn't spotted this this am, i would have bought one from Currys or Argos by now, for £126. Or the Nokia 7 plus at £254, thats a good deal too.

This is the relevant bit of the Honor 2 year warranty. "1. The Warranty lasts and is provided in accordance with the respective local laws, as standard for a period of twenty-four (24) months for the Host unit, six (6) months for the Battery and Charger, and three (3) months for the Earphone from the date of purchase of the Product (“Warranty Period”), and is only applicable if you have purchased the Product in a member state of European Union, Iceland, Norway or Switzerland." So do people think the JL 2 year warranty covers the battery for 2 years? Cos Honor only cover it for 6 months.

Familiarity breeds contempt. It was a good deal a few months ago. It's less so now that the price is up and down by 20-30 quid on a weekly basis.

What extra warranty? It's 2 year manufacturer everywhere...

Love that -"will void the warranty from Toby Deals " --- (shock) (embarrassed) (skeptical) (shock) As if there were one worth a flying fart :(

I would still get them to refund the £20 difference over currys price. does it not state in their terms that they will price match after purchase?

Yeah, the extra year warranty is probably worth £20 to be honest ..... and I don't like Currys, had to take them to court a few years ago as they wouldn't fix a TV they sold me!! I won of course, but they were truly awful in their handling of me.

Not at John Lewis. It is at amazon, and currys, gone down to £149. Good that you got the two year John Lewis guarantee though

Understand its cheaper on the cancelling contract trick but this seems ok without the messing around.

Thanks OP, that's my new phone sorted out.

Yep, and the networks are worried at the idea of a person having 4G coverage but no 2G/3G (invariably this would be B20 on EE and Three, due to the higher frequencies of their 3G and B3/B7 4G) which would have a customer having signal showing on their phone but not able to make calls, hence access to B20 being restricted to only phones the network has decided to allow to use VoLTE. Sometimes the decisions made on handset models allowed to use VoLTE are completely arbitrary and illogical by the network concerned. Someone (in a position to know) at EE told me that they exclude most Honor models (even through they are technically almost identical to the Huawei versions) simply because they are dual sim and someone in a high position at EE dislikes the idea of dual sim phones, go figure that out...

Case is included in the box on this phone.

Now understand why band 20 is important for some...... What is VoLTE?Let’s start with the basics. VoLTE or Voice over LTE (commonly referred to as 4G) is when a phone uses its internet connectivity to make and receive calls. This is super useful as often you can have internet connectivity but no 3G signal. Traditionally you would need 3G to make and receive calls; with VoLTE you can make this call on the 4G network. Certain bandwidth spectrums (common urban city areas) in the UK are very good at penetrating deep into buildings meaning you are more likely to get 4G signal when 3G isn’t available. Another added benefit of 4G voice calling is that it’s able to send around 2-3 times more data than 3G. To take advantage of this your voice over VoLTE has been upgraded to Voice HD. The Voice HD is clearer and should give a richer audio experience.

Just to illustrate the point, here’s a coverage map on Three, both phones do Band 20 but only one is Three Supervoice compatible and actually gets b20. No Supervoice = no B20 Supervoice = B20

My friend's order was picked up earlier this week and she'll be canceling the Vodafone contract today.

They already knew it was from carphone warehouse, no questions asked why I wanted to cancel. I simply said I wanted to cancel under the cooling period (didn't mention anything about the phone)

What questions did they ask. Did they query where you got the sim from?

So I called and was told I can only give 30 days notice and would be charged for 1 month. I went ahead for now so it doesn't renew next month, £124.50 is still cheaper than £169 its priced right now everywhere else in the UK That said I'll pursue this later hopefully with another caller and try get first month off too

You seemed amazed at the fact that phones could cost £300. Ergo, the notion of phones that cost three times as much as that would probably blow your mind. You seem confused by the whole thing.

Yes, How is that relevant?

I echo Gorskar's post entirely. I did manage to get the unlock code whilst we still could but it's very frustrating that updates are released infrequently here. It also struggles with Android Auto headunits and the Virgin Media TVControl app. Went from the 8 to this phone - both are nice but I won't bother with Honor again.

The bootloaders are.

I think he mentioned Nokia because they promise fast updates and have so far delivered impeccably on them, where updates on Huawei devices are something of an enigma.

Does anybody happen to have a 10% Argos code from the glitch they are not going to use? I want to buy my sister this phone.

My opinion isn't distorted at all - why would I convince myself I didn't think the camera was up to much, given how good value the phone was? It wouldn't be in my interest to be disappointed and have to buy a more expensive phone to replace it. Why is my opinion distorted by default but these other people's opinions are perfectly unbiased and rational? I've already made it clear that it's just my opinion but I have no ulterior motive and I always give things a good chance to impress me. I've even just bought a P20 Pro again to see if the firmware updates have improved the image processing. As I said, it's a good device and I would thoroughly recommend it for the most part, I just didn't think the camera lived up to the hype. Just my opinion, and I've nothing against the device as a whole.

It’s actually a users gallery that he happened to start, check the names under the photos. My point is you are attempting to skew perceptions just on your opinion, when the evidence from a quick search shows your opinion to be distorted

I wouldn't pay more than £250. This how much I paid during a Prime Day as a Amazon warehouse deal. ;)

I'm not sure why you're showing me this as it is not going to change my mind - I've used the Honor 10 camera extensively and didn't say it was a *bad* camera, just that it is not a particularly good one. Jonathan Morris is very pally with the Huawei crowd so I don't necessarily think he's going to point out the bad side of the camera - put it this way, he owns a Mate 10 Pro, an Honor 10 and a P20 Pro.

Agree, I’ve used both and prefer the H10, it’s a better phone to use (in my opinion).

I agree with you, it is just my personal preference, even H10 is slightly too big for me.

https://www.phonearena.com/phones/size#/phones/size/Huawei-Mate-10-Pro,Honor-10/phones/10662,10872 According to this, it's only 5 mm smaller in height and 4mm in width, so Mate 10 Pro is still a winner with bigger battery and AMOLED screen :)

This is true, but H10 is slightly smaller for those who prefer smaller phones. At this price, I will probably choose M10 Pro, however if the H10 was £50 less, I would have probably gone for it as I like smaller phones.
