Just going to copy/paste my comment from the expired deal -

I must have installed around 40-50 of these over the last couple of years.
Very reliable drives (as you'd expect from Kioxia).

Sequential speeds aren't the fastest, but that's only an issue if you spend a lot of time transferring large files around.
For everything else they are great for the price. (edited)

It's slow but at least it's TLC, much better than QLC (crucial P3)
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
TLC with DRAM cache too (P3 is DRAM-less).
The sequential speeds don't really matter to the majority of people, far too much attention is aimed at those big numbers when all they really help with is sustained large file transfers.

Side by side in general use (office apps, gaming, etc) you couldn't tell the difference between this and the average gen4 drive with 5000Mb/s sequential speeds. (edited)

    Who is kioxia?

Formally known as Toshiba Memory Corp, the people that invented Flash memory.
As well as make their own drives, all WD and SanDisk SSD's are actually manufactured at the Kioxia plant.
They also supply NAND to other drive manufacturers.

Their drives are generally very reliable (I've installed a LOT of these exact drives over the last few years and none have failed yet).. (edited)

Good deal, people don't recognise the name much but Kioxia is basically Toshiba who are one of the architects of solid state storage and are sometimes specced by companies like Samsung as guaranteed to work with their equipment, e.g. their SD cards for a video camera I used to own.

On top of that, all WD/SanDisk SSD's are actually manufactured at the Kioxia plant.
They also sell a lot of their NAND to other SSD manufacturers.

Been in my basket since it dropped to £35. Didn’t need it right away so was advised to wait for it to drop further. Still don’t need it yet so will wait a bit more

    Good deal though!

Excellent drives. Fantastic price. We use these as externals on Mac Studios.

Have a bunch of these installed in work machines including my work laptop. Not stunning speeds but for a good quality reliable drive, at this price, is a good deal

They're out of stock, that's for a used one.
Price will probably go back up to £35.99 when stock comes in.
