I've seen the deals for the 5 and 10k units but this seems good, I have the Luko 10k from last year and I personally have been impressed with the results with a decent window kit.

LUKO Portable 3 in 1 Air Conditioner 16,000 BTU

We all welcome the sun but sometimes the heat can get too much. When that happens and you need to cool down, a Luko portable air con unit is the ideal solution. With a huge cooling capacity, remote control, and being able to cover a whole room – the Luko 16,000 BTU will keep you cool even in the fiercest heat.

Suitable for homes, offices, home gyms, conservatories or any room with a mains power supply, this air con unit is fully portable so can be moved to wherever it’s needed. And, with a free window kit included, it’s an all-in-one cooling solution.

Energy Efficient
With an ‘A’ Energy Rating you know you’re cooling down in the most efficient way. Great for you and great for the environment! The unit also has 3 operating modes; cool, fan and dry so you’ll always be able to select the most efficient programme without wasting energy.

Super Cooling
With a maximum air flow of 410m³ / hour of air circulated per hour means you can cool any room up to 32m². This powerful air con unit is far more effective than a rotary fan which simply pushes around warm air. With the Luko BTU 16,000 you’ll notice a huge change in temperature control. Once you’ve used this unit you’ll never go back to a traditional fan.

Ideal for any room in the home

In low fan speed the new and reduced sound pressure level of just 56dB(A) makes this an easy device to live with. It’s very quiet. And, as its portable, you can move it around thew house with you. The handy sleep mode means no more uncomfortable nights when it’s just too hot. Using the Luko 16,000 BTU reduces the relative humidity in a room which will help to remove the sticky feeling from the air during the summer months.

Or in the office
This is a great unit for ensuring your staff keep their cool under pressure! Suitable for offices and other workplace environments between 20-32m². And, with its low-noise operation, your staff won’t be disturbed while they keep cool.

Easy to use
With straightforward controls, remote control, and a manual included, this user-friendly air conditioning unit will have you cooled down and comfortable in no time. The timer controls mean you can set the device to cool the house or office before you get there and with four different modes you can choose different cooling levels for maximum efficiency.

Ventilation
The Luko BTU 16,000 includes a venting kit which extracts the warm air and ejects it from the room via the exhaust hose. This ensures ultra-effective cooling as, unlike rotary fans, the heat is not recirculated within the room.

I've just ordered the 16k unit, I have their 10k unit at the moment and have been very impressed with it

What would this cost roughly to run an hr/day?
    sparkykev's avatar
42p an hour until the room cools enough for the thermostat to cut off and on if you're paying the price cap rate for electricity.

Raging, bought the 12000 recently for just over 200, happy with the purchase though bear on mind these are bigger than I thought wasn't expecting the size

They're definitely hefty and take up a fair chunk of space - you're sacrificing a good corner of usable space in any room

I have owned a few like these. If you can stretch to it, getting a properly installed split Aircon unit installed is so much better. It won't waste space in your home and won't sound like a plane taking off either. (edited)

I mean you're comparing £188 vs in the thousands for installed units.
Whilst you're not wrong about its functional and space it's not really stretching.

Thank you, ordered on the app. Been looking at getting a new one for years, the one I have was costing a fortune during summer lol

Fantastic deal OP. I just ordered. Buyer selling for £220. Price will have a crease as the mini heat wave in the UK starts.

Do you know how long the hose is that they supply with it ?
    lil_keysy's avatar
Haven't taken it out of package yet but compressed it approx 30-40cm

Been looking to get one for a while. Thanks ordered through the app.

Does it work as a dehumidifier?
    c135's avatar
the dehumidifying function of any portable air con is crap - you need the hose out the window and the air blown out of your room is replaced by outside air....
  12. Cheikthisout's avatar
That's a super price, bought this with a code about two months ago for around 220. Yet to test it out on a hot day for obvious reasons. You may need a separate window kit as the one included only fits sliding window openings
    Met-Cast's avatar
Do you have an example of a good window kit?

How does this compare to Meaco? I noticed it looks almost identical on the outside, is there much difference inside though?
  16. davocc's avatar
Some units I have used dribble condensate over the radiator which goes out through the external pipe as warm moist air, this improves cooling efficiency and makes the need for condensation pipes ordered emptying largely unnecessary - does this have such a function?
  17. Met-Cast's avatar
Ordered one thanks OP. First portable air con, are there any tips or additional things I should be aware of?

is it possible to turn this on/off with a smart plug? Our dehumidifier requires an extra button press when turned on so doesn’t work with a plug
    SteveHarp's avatar
I wouldn’t recommend using a smart plug - sudden power cuts may damage the compressor. Learnt this the hard way!

So if this is for a room that’s 32m squared then the measurements would be 5.5m x 5.5m? That’s my understanding from this but I could be wrong. I shudder to think how big the rooms are for 5000btu aircons
  19. MrNebberCracker's avatar
    32kgs. Does it have wheels?

I almost got this the other week... Read a few times that it's worse than some people's 12000btu units. Not sure how that's possible but it seems to be a rubbish unit.
    Spike_202's avatar
Even a 12000 unit would be more than enough for me. I've just gone for this due to the price with the discount.
I'll give it a try once it gets here.

I have this which I bought to replace a similar powerered (16,000 or 15,600 btu) unit from CPC Farnell which cost over £350. I was hoping for a similar performance however I was disappointed. It is nowhere near as effective! My previous model would make the room ice cold like walking into a walk-in freezer, this model is nowhere near that. It does cool the room but has to be left on constantly to cool and even after many hours although still cool it wasn’t as effective as I was expecting. I’ve even questioned whether I have a defective unit for I don’t think that’s the case. It’s just a poor quality, cheaply produced unit. I don’t have any evidence but with my previous one it would turn off once the temperature was achieved however this unit just operates continuously with never actually turning off (as far as I can remember as it’s a while since it was in use) so it may actually be costing more to run than my previous better quality unit!?
