No they're not. The Sports Direct ones have a dual display and were selling for about £85. I got one, but it isn't as good as the £99 one I got in Lidl in 2020 on a deal on here.

If your seriously considering A/C??? And in a property that you plan to live in for say 5-10 years? Get an Air-to-Air heat pump. Can do heat or cold. love it in the summer and a nice boost in the winter. My house is insulated, and it helps keep the heat in as well.

Got a multi splitter - 2 x bedroom and 1 x in the living room. Never looked back. But you can get single ones for just that room.

Thanks 5000btu one should be more than good enough to keep the bedroom cool in the summer

That's all I have, not bothered about cooling the entire room. We just have it set to 19 or 20 degrees and leave it to blow on us gently through the night. Not had a bad night's sleep through 'heatwaves' for years doing this. In fact, sometimes we wake up cold.

Looks like very good price - I've got a 9000BTU one last summer for 200+, at that time it was a fair deal.

How good is the 9k at cooling? What sort of room would it be good for and does it take a while to cool? (edited)

I’m sorry I’m new to ACs etc but could somebody explain how the venting would work with this? And I’ve read numerous comment about a window vent I can buy? Any links would help please

It comes with a hose you have to stick out a window. You can buy a window vent seal kit on Amazon pretty cheap that fixes into place with Velcro if you want to get the most efficient cooling out of your air conditioner.

I purchased a similar one to deal but last year with the increase in global prices found it very expensive to run. Fortunately we didn't have such hot weather last year in the the South East corner and I didn't switch it on once. They do take up space and you need to be able to put the 5" diameter venting hose outside the house/ window. (edited)

Are these loud, can someone give an idea on this as my son is autistic and very sensitive (not all the time)
    magf's avatar
every AC is going to be loud due to the compressor, probably best sticking to a fan if you want silence

Got mine, Does do anything in dry mode, collected no water through the tube i to a bucket. Appliance is higher then drainage all set up correct, Seems to work in fan mode and cool. Anyone trying to use it for dehumidifier?
    KodaBear's avatar
How long was it running for? You generally need to be in a hot and high humidity room for a few hours to get good results using an AC as a dehumidifier. Additionally depending upon the exact design of the unit you might need to tip it backwards slightly to make it drain out the collected water after you’ve switched it off.

No matter what mode it’s in though, don’t expect litres and litres of water to fill a bucket. I leave my units sealed with no tubes connected and drain at the end of each day of use. I generally collect about 500ml or so from the dehumidifier and 150-200ml in condensation from a whole day of use.
