I am tempted to agree I just bought this LG but thinking of cancelling as everyone keeps talking about water hammering ?

Brackon82

Last machine was a Samsung WW9000 which was gifted to me, it was the first smart washing machine on the market and cost something like £1500. Great machine (before it broke) but would never have paid that much myself. The fact that it died just after 5 years made made me furious and confirmed that spending a lot on a washing machine isn't worth it.

Nicolas

Why downgrade In what sense

Brackon82

Got this through Hughes Direct the other week on the ebay deal. It is a downgrade from out old Samsung machine that was rediculously expensive but died just after 5 years. That being said, so far so good, it washes clothes, what more do you need? It is not too loud, and has all the wash functions that I like to use. Overall, nothing to complain about.

qfel

LG its quite good but if it does brake God help you as they use 0800-repair and service is shocking to say the least

Why is it better via AO?

DW79

Heat! Although I went for the 9kg LG Washing Machine A+++ deal posted a few days before on here at John Lewis at £399 but called up AO to price match them. AO's was £549 for the same one but they brought it down £150. Tried to sell me the AO protection plan of £7 something a month but LG has the 5 year warranty (you need to register your washing machine).

Promo code does not work. It says 'Sorry, the code SAVE30 doesn't apply to any items in your basket.'

wirdy

Quite true about the pulsing initial fill on the LG machines. It's a 'feature' but not sure of the reason. Ours must do 9 or 10 short fill pulses to begin with. I lessened the banging by turning down the flow slightly at the cold-fill ball valve. Might be worth a try.

Superficial

it does but you need to call the LG phone number with your serial / model for the extra 3 years.

devinn

https://www.lg.com/uk/5yearwarranty According to this link it says that this washer includes the 5 year warranty after you register the product, it also says 'Please note your extended warranty is not immediately applied to your account. Don't worry, this is because we're hard at work processing this for you.'

willllllllll

It does not have a 5 year warranty! It's 2. I bought this thinking it was 5, just registered and it's 2. Woudl not of bought otherwise.

MIDURIX

I know, it is tricky to actually get near that weight. A 10kg machine can take 30 t shirts and 15 pairs of jeans all together, but I would never dream of putting anywhere near that much in it.

pototea

That makes more sense now given the physical dimensions of the machine were no bigger. I thought I was going crazy for a second when the amount of clothes I was washing wasn't any different between the old 7kg and new 9kg machine I have! Makes me wonder even though the machine states 9kg - is it even possible to add 9kg of items to the drum? I weighed my dry towels and filling the drum came to 5kg.

Top notch TV, on back order but seems the best price currently. Currys have this in at £3799 Here Let Oled vs Qled battle commence ;)
JontyMick

For those interested another C9 review has dropped by John Archer. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/johnarcher/2019/04/28/lg-oled65c9-c9-review-knocking-on-heavens-door/amp/

JontyMick

Brightness doesn't equal better picture you know. Majority of your posts indicate this is your preference for what makes a good quality picture. Why don't you stick to your Samsung QLED threads.

Tony_DR

The Q9 might not do, but that was a 2017 model. Both the Q9FN and the Q90R have black that is invisible in a pitch black room. Also QLED has 3-4 times the peak brightness of OLED at over 3500 Nits (films are mastered 4000 nits), a wider colour gamut and more visible detail in very dark picture areas. I have a Q90R and a 2018 LG OLED and the Q90R has an obviously more impressive and more detailed picture for HDR content. It's not a small difference - it's very noticeably a better picture. The only reason I can see to buy OLED these days is aesthetics as the screens are thinner. And versus the substantial risk of burn in - I wouldn't take the risk again. A guy on here posted bad burn in pictures on his LG from only 30 minutes of Good Morning Britain each day...

JontyMick

Still not the perfect black levels of OLED. Q9 blacks didn't look anywhere near as good as OLED so obviously this won't be as good as OLED either.

Tony_DR

The Q9FN had black levels of 0.0036 Nits and the Q90R is better. So technically correct but not visible with human eyes. And it's an obviously better overall picture HDR on the Q90R which is what matters most. And all OLEDs have burn in issues. Otherwise give me the burn in warranty details like Samsung offer?

What I have is a Bosch machine with one of the silent induction motors. Takes away the previous weak point of Bosch machines, that the brushes without housings tended to wear out quickly, albeit being easy to replace. This seems like a good deal. https://www.hotukdeals.com/thread/3207166/new-comments I've always felt the steam/bubble things are just gimmicks. It has to be said that LG are still one of the better brands, but IMO not as good as Bosch. Our Bosch machine has got an absolute hammering, including four years of washable nappies, without any issue. I used to see them used in commercial settings like pubs where they were totally abused. Even so they coped, and in general any repairs needed were relatively cheap and easy to replace parts. When I saw unusual failures like PCBs, even out of warranty, I used to advise the customer to call Bosch and they had a 100% record of providing a new part free of charge. The issue I always had with LG is that I was doing repairs which should have been done under warranty, but the customer couldn't wait for LG to do it. The "direct drive" design also means problems with the motor - usually the Hall sensor - are a pain in the bum to replace and thus expensive. LG sell the direct drive as an advantage but I don't agree. I didn't like the fact that it felt that LG were using the delays to get out of warranty repairs.

Chutney123

Hey if you don't mind me asking, what would be your recommendation for a washing machine? I'm on a £400 max budget and thinking of LG steam (I get a bit sniffly with allergies) but don't really have a clue where to start looking at what to decide between machines :)

azual

Is washing machine tablet the liquids inside the plastic thing like a gel?

Rich44

Samsung have a drum cleaning warning every so many washes there's a special 70c program for it, guess this is probably why. Dr Beckman do a washing machine cleaning powder for between £2-4 depending if on offer it's extremely effective at dealing with bacteria, mess & smells you just run the machine with the powder in empty & it comes up spotless well worth doing at least every 6 months. Aldi & Lidl bio powders are both excellent generally. Stopped using the liquids etc for that reason & now just buy whatever is cheapest at the time. Highly rate the current Samsung machines, 5 year warranty, ours is 1600 spin & is ruthlessly efficient.

busterdan

Yes they are rubbish... now looking for a new washing machine after just under 3 years of owning a Samsung - never again!

Quite irrelevant unless you state the model. I had a similar poor experience with a JL fridge freezer but that was an old model which wasn’t ‘frost-free’ but it would not stop me buying a new JL one.

susanalbumparty

I didn't say it was, I'm obviously not going to buy another to find out when the first one was crap. I was offering my experience with the brand.

I highly doubt it’s this particular model. We have it and it’s been excellent. Open plan lounge / kitchen with quite literally no noise from the fridge freezer other than an occasional hum. Inside space and build quality is brilliant.

I don't claim any knowledge of such products but I would recommend steering clear of Hoover (and Hotpoint). Both have a very poor reliability and service reputation. Best budget brand is BEKO but I don't know whether they do the equivalent.
