Can't change country/region (Nintendo eShop balance, automatic renewal or pre-order)
To be able to change your country/region setting, you will need to do one or more of the following:

For an unspent Nintendo eShop balance, you will need to spend the balance.
You will need to cancel the automatic renewal for your Nintendo Switch Online membership, Pokémon HOME Premium plan and any in-game passes.
For outstanding pre-orders, you will need to cancel the pre-order.

You need a Switch Online Subscription in Japan to qualify for this

NSO is not tied to any region/country, if you have it you have it. Very easy to change your account country @ as long as you have no account credit, no active subscriptions, no existing pre-orders.

Warning: if you are the Admin of a Family Group with any Child accounts in the group - DO NOT change country to US - as you may need to pay a fee to reactivate the Child account(s) en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/63084/~/how-to-change-nintendo-account-country (due to COPPA) (edited)
