£5 for 10GB (20GB with Volt) plus Disney+ 3 months is also still available uswitch.com/mob…go/
    Kruk's avatar
Not sure what £0 you mean, but it will be £5 after 12 months and increased each year by RPI +3.9%

If I buy one of these (likely the £5 one) when does the contract start? I don't need it for three or four weeks.
    KodaBear's avatar
The day after dispatch. You can't delay this.

Good deal. I went for one of previous deals but after a week cancelled it because for me speeds were much much lower than with Three... ☹️

I’ve been on o2 for a few months and the speeds are much worse than my old provider plusnet. But I went on it for the volt benefits, specifically being able to use my phone in the USA without extra charges.

    How do you get volt?
    KodaBear's avatar
It is automatically applied within about 2 weeks or so. If it doesn’t for any reason just call o2 and give them your VM account number and they’ll manually add it for you.

Compared to Three in my area, o2 has been awful since switching and I will port back in when a good Three deal arrives again. I don't live in a city centre or in the sticks.

There's a good Smarty deal (owned by Three) that was posted on here. 50GB data for £8pm for the first 12 months.

Just been to India and back. 5G speed there (in Tamil Nadu) is great 380 Mbps (unlimited 5G data for 300 INR a month on.Jio). Is UK really a developed country or going backwards? Data speed here in London is very poor and patchy. (edited)

It's because they removed 5g masts by Huawei by the US request lol just because the US hasn't reached that speed

O2 poor data wherever I go… it’s only the free Greg’s bacon sarnie that makes me stay and suffer.
    xfield's avatar
Same here, very disappointed with data. My contract is about to finish and will be moving elsewhere. It was even poor abroad when not on their network, when with three the speed and reliability of connection were much better.

Pretty decent deal. I have just signed up to the £8 per month deal 30GB date , unlimited calls and text.
    anthony_neal's avatar
I did, I just received my volt bonus to 60GB.

For anyone living in Swansea do not sign up to O2 a mast which serves the city centre is broken and has been since last year. This means the reception is very poor and after months of being told to be patient I went to the ombudsman and have been released from my contract. The mast is on BT tower and the landlord (presumably BT) won’t let them fix it.
    eliHd452's avatar
Why won't bt let o2 fix it? Is o2 not paying rental fee to them for piggy backing in their infrastructures?

I've been on o2 for years and I've got to say since merged with virgin signal has dropped but have yet to have no 4g signal
  12. crazy_b's avatar
    There’s better one £5 for 10gb

Do these both attract Volt Benefits?

I currently have an o2 + virgin deal with volt. Will I have to reapply for volt if I switch to this deal?
    roadrunner1's avatar
Yes, definitely for the o2 data. Virgin side may carry on as normal

Anyone successful got 2 Sims on multisave on these deals on this page?
Just been onto O2 support and they claim it can't be done as both deals are not direct from the O2 website.
If so does anyone have instructions how to do it?
    nrsp's avatar
I would buy some of these if this worked too.

Have you checked against o2.co.uk/mul…ave ?

It does say "any other tariffs bought through a third party aren’t eligible"

Have you tried texting LOYALTY to 21500 from your new number?

I managed to upgrade my existing line to this one, but trying to bring over my old 3 number to another new line has failed every time.

I got the same problem, sigh.

Please mind there will be a hard search on your credit history when you take this contract.
    Wackawackaboomboom's avatar
oh why is that? I don't get it. There's no credit involved if its paid monthly?

    Good deal, voted hot!

Generally O2 reception is bad is most places, even when you have full bars and 5G the speeds are still awful, I believe they throttle connection speeds and also cap them unless you pay them big amounts or something. I am thinking of moving to EE.
    KodaBear's avatar
Nope. It's actually EE Who are known to cap speeds. If you want a good deal with EE Signal I would recommend going with one of the brands who piggyback on EE signal instead. No speed caps and lower prices.

O2 Have slow/no data because they are simply oversubscribed and have serious bandwidth capacity issues without much investment to expand despite taking on so many more customers recently.

Just taken a virgin package out with the 25 pound o2 sim card what's the easiest way to reduce it to the 8 pound 30 gig sim I have just phoned them and they said the cheapest I could get was 15 pounds for 60 gig on a 24 month contract. Is it easier to cancel the sim fully in the 14 day cooling off period and set up a new sim rather than down grading the one I got off virgin
    vzert's avatar
I got caught out with a 24 month contract when i downgraded from the unlimited ultimate volt sim. They should match the deals on here on a 12 month contract but I’d have cancelled in 14 days if I could get the time back.

That’s because o2 use 800MHz band 20 which is good at travelling far but useless for speeds. Not sure how much o2 deploy but I think it’s a lot. With phones not moving onto higher bands. Can you tell what band your on? With Plusnet they didn’t use band 20 so a good connection meant good speeds. I believe EE use 1800MHz band 3 as their core so get higher speeds.

O2 use higher bands but no idea whether they work or phones automatically connect to them. Maybe Koda can shed some light
    KodaBear's avatar
Unfortunately I am no o2 Expert. I worked for T-Mobile and later EE which is how I developed a greater knowledge of their network operations. Obviously with the discounts that came with it I made use of their network so much of my personal experience is of their own network too.

What I will say is that when we get to 4G and 5G network technology, Both EE and o2 operate on mostly the same bands as each other. And that I know that pretty much all UK networks will try to push devices onto the highest frequency available as much as possible due to the faster data speeds and typically higher network capacity. The lower frequencies like 800/B20 is treated as a fallback for rural users or those inside a large building where the higher frequencies cannot be found.

I'd be very surprised if any network deviated too much from this setup as it's the most efficient use of their infrastructure.

When moving numbers within 02, do I still need a PAC code? Using the MyO2 app, it states no request has been received to move numbers?

EDIT-early contract termination fee applies when changing O2 Sims??? Eh? (edited)
    MattyKHZ's avatar
No PAC code needed if internal. I found any change of contract to show an early termination charge in my 02 APP but when you click on continue it waived it as stated by others on previous deal posts. I did not go past this screen originally because of the mention of a charge.

Try it as nothing is finalised until you push all the way through and get all the T&C documentation later on.

Did this on the 27th and my wife's previously in June. Despite Uswitch showing Disney Plus and you being able to select existing customer when directed to o2 for checkout, the mention of the free extra gets removed and once ordered there is nothing in o2 suggesting a free extra or allowing you to choose one.

This never used to be the case as many on here state they "upgrade" ie lock into a new 12 month contract every 3 months to renew their Disney Plus.

Either I've been unlucky on 2 occassion or o2 are no longer allowing this....

How do I upgrade my current 02 tariff to this?
  27. savvyy's avatar
Anyone else having issues taking any pf these plans ? I manage to put it in basket but when it asks me if I'm a new or existent customer I log in and it gives me an error then. Tried a few times already. I only have a couple of Sims with o2.
    Any help appreciated, cheers.
    KodaBear's avatar
What error does it give? And do you have a direct debit set up for your current o2 account? If not it often fails to process.
