If you’re laundry pile feels never ending, you’ll love this Hoover washer dryer. The full load in 59 setting will get all your jumpers, jeans and t-shirts washed up in under an hour – that mountain will be sorted before you know it. Want to keep your utility bills in check? The clever KG mode weighs each load and adjusts the settings, so it only uses the exact amount of water and energy that’s needed. Neat. And since the machine connects to WiFi and Bluetooth, you don’t need to wait for the wash to finish if you’re heading out. Simply keep an eye on the cycle’s progress from your smartphone and start a drying programme when it’s done. Laundry on the go – nifty.
  • 8kg wash & 5kg dry load — Great for medium households
  • KG Mode — Sensors adapt the wash to keep costs low
  • Full load in 59 — A quick wash when you're in a hurry
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth — Control from your phone
  • Dimensions (cm) - H85 x W60 x D53

So, how do these "washer dryers" get rid of the water when drying? A damp air hose that needs to go through the wall, just like a normal tumble dryer?

At present, I have the tumble dryer in the cellar, with a smart mains adapter that has a temperature and humidity probe - that's just stuck in the output air hose and switches it off when the air is dry enough...

They push warm, dry air through your wet washing to extract moisture, then cool the now humid air in a heat exchanger to condense the moisture, which is collected in a tank or pumped down the drain. The (now dry) air is reheated, and the cycle repeats. The heart of any condenser dryer is the heat exchanger. (Google)

I've got a washer dryer. It's not bad if you're drying a small amount. If you have a big washload to wash dry in 1 program, you'll find that your clothes are still heavily damp. It's best to do a wash, take half out and air dry, or another alternative.

Yeah I wouldn't. I had the 14kg just the washer version of this and it was a pain in the butt from day one. The heat pump dryer we have is great but the washing machine just utter rubbish. Constantly waiting for repairs for it, parts, it was finally written off about 3 months in by my insurers and that was a happy day!

Oh, good to know I am not the only one. Waiting for repair since 18th of February.
    Bought it last May.
End up with Bosch in the kitchen and Hoover in my living room.
    Avoid.

I have 2 washer dryers from Hoover. Both have failed at numerous points in the past. At present I have one out of action with Motor failure, and the second fills up with water when not in use requiring us to remember to drain before opening the door. I wouldn't touch Hoover with a barge pole going forward.

Had these and it broke after 14 months or so. The drum went and got quoted £150 from them to fix. Go for Bosch instead

I had more or less the same experience. These hoover machines seem to be very poorly made and often not cost effective to fix (edited)

Had 2 washer dryers. Experiences i don’t want to experience again, one was £599, 10 repairs in 2 years. Best thing i did was separate.

Which brands? I don't have enough space in the kitchen so getting rid of the tumble dryer and want to get a washer dryer. Apart from breaking down do they dry like a tumble dryer?

Got given a very similar model Hoover 8kg 1600spin with Bluetooth washing machine for free by a kind neighbour that was moving. Never bothered with useless Bluetooth feature.

It does the job and would be ok if very cheap, but there are better brand deals for this kinda money. Hoover's cheap basic vacuum cleaners are good however.

Personally I would get whichever beko or bosch looked like it had the least to go wrong. No fancy gimmicks.

Old Bosch classix machines are pretty bomb proof. Mine was bought used off eBay in 2015 and already about 7 years old then. Now it has survived being dropped during a house move, without transit bolts fitted and still works fine. (edited)
