I've had the non-poe version of this for a month. Was getting fed up with Ring prices and app performance. It's been running like a dream.

Not sure if it's of any use to anyone but you can't get more chimes directly from Reolink unfortunately, however after a bit of research, I've found that the KERUI M525 chimes are compatible with the Reolink doorbell (along with other KERUI chimes according to my online research and elsewhere in this thread. It will probably work with any similar programmable chime from other brands too). I got two KERUI ones on eBay for £12 for a pair on an auction.

To pair them, you just set them in pairing mode and then press the doorbell. This process allows the chimes to recognize the frequency of the doorbell as a trigger.

I have successfully connected three chimes to the doorbell (including the one the doorbell ships with). While the KERUI ones sound a bit tinny, they definitely do the job and have a lot of chime options (though I just leave on default as I can't be bothered to reset them again if the power goes off and on). They are certainly loud enough for my use case anyway and can always add more. (edited)

Yes I only found out about the one chime limit after I installed, then queried Reolink as to why you can’t buy additional chimes.

They said the feature has been removed (manuals do/did imply multiple chimes). 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t understand why, presumably it just sends a 433MHz frequency out.

Microphone on phone app doesn't work if you pair the doorbell up with echo show, known bug for months with no fix in sight, returned mine for that reason

Been watching this product for a while and it seems to regularly drop to this price, either as a straight deal or with a clicky voucher.
As an PoE video doorbell it'd be very useful but for the fact you're limited to only one Reolink chime and no other compatibility so far as I've been able to establish, so you can't dot a few chimes about your home.

I bought these chimes and they work perfectly with my Reolink WiFi doorbell. Paired up just like in the Reolink manual

how does it compare against eufy?
    sapstar's avatar
I tried eufy and returned it last year. This I believe is the best doorbell I ever owned, my previous doorbells in the last 5 years were ring Pro and ring Pro 2, but still prefer this one. Eufy even when wired only records after it detects motion. So I couldn't capture any footage when someone approaches the door. Only when leaving.

The recording on sd card in the camera on the reolink is something I don't like. But there is an ability to write to an ftp share. So if you have a nas, you can constantly write to the nas.

I have mine setup in an opensource nvr called frigate which does the recording remotely for me and also manages notifications etc. So very feature rich doorbell that gives you full control of the data.

Do these come with something to tilt/angle the camera?
    Gorskar's avatar
yes, there is a 15 degree wedge in the box

Just installed a wifi version of this yesterday, connected to existing doorbell wiring for power, so was a very easy installation.
If you are able to run ethernet to the doorbell (and ideally also have a POE injector) then the PoE version is probably even better, as its a single cable, and no worrying about patchy wifi. I was reassured that the wifi-version still has an ethernet port if I later decide to use that (although the wifi version cant be powered from PoE like this one). In any case wifi signal has been perfectly fine sofar, so it'll probably remain this way for the long term.

As far as the doorbell goes, I'm impressed by its performance and features. Comes with everything you need in the box. Can store footage on the device (on a microSD), the cloud, or you can stream to your own DVR or FTP server. Person detection included. 6s pre-event recording (you wont get that on any battery-powered doorbell, but its a VERY good feature to have). Loads of settings... and all without having to pay a monthly fee! (although you are able to pay for cloud storage if you so choose).

At the moment I only have it writing to a 64Gb MicroSD card on the doorbell, but I'll get it to also FTP the footage to a raspberryPI FTP server shortly, which should do as a backup.

I need to play with the sensitivity a bit, as it was recording every drop of rain last night (not a big deal, as its only sending a notification for doorbell presses, or "person detected"), but means the storage will fill up faster. There seem to be a large number of things you can play with for detection, so hopefully will get it right soon! (edited)

Also works well with Scrypted to bring the Doorbell into Apple HomeKit. Got one to replace my temperamental Aqara G4.

These are brilliant if you don’t mind running Ethernet to it - our porch needed a repaint so was a good time to do it and patch up after.

Great person/vehicle detection, if you put in a microSD card you can use their free cloud service to play back recordings remotely but it can go into whatever local setup (blue iris, etc) you like instead. I have recordings go to FTP for safe keeping too.

The one chime is a bit annoying but if we’re at home on wifi it’s never failed to send a push almost instantly to our phones.

I've made a comment about additional chimes below - not sure if its of any interest but basically would recommend you get KERUI M525 (only from personal experience) or similar if you want more chimes.

Does it connect to Amazon Echo’s to become a chime?

    Yes.

Can this doorbell be linked in anyway to trigger hardwired honeywell door chimes located throughout the home possibly via a relay triggered by NVR?
  13. shoomshoom's avatar
It is wired which makes it unsuited to my needs. Also, the price went up from £75 to the current price in about a week. So, I am not sure if this is a deal even with a voucher.

I use this with a 8 camera NVR around my property. Works well overall and no cloud based nonesense.

Pair with this and that and you get best CCTV on the market considering the price.

Or if you're in the geek community and have a PC/server available to you, run Blue Iris for a great multi-camera setup (supporting a wide range of third-party cameras)

Can Reolink video doorbells be hardwired to existing chimes? My Evviz DB1C can, but isn't the most reliable so I'm thinking of replacing it
    Gorskar's avatar
I don't think so. The doorbell can be powered by existing doorbell wiring but there doesnt seem to be any option to ring a hardwired chime. The plug-in wireless chime however will work fine - and you can use the alexa skill to make echo devices announce visitors also.

Best video doorbell in the market. I yried ring pro 2 for a few days then switched to reolink. Im glad I did as reolink is so much better. I use ftp backup on my local NAS. I also use ecgo show and echo dot as additional chimes

How easy is to make it wired? Is better to have small hole in the door or the frame?
