I may follow your advice then and ring Sky directly towards the end of the week and seek more clarification.

Thank you in advance for your reps. (for clicking the rep/balance icon under my name)

2 weeks ago i called to say i was giving 30 days notice to cancel.''Why are you leaving and what can we do to make you stay'' they said.I am giving virgin a try as they have offered me a good deal.I will stay if you can make it cheaper and if you give me a sky+ box.The lady reduced my package by £7 and dropped movies which i am not bothered about and said i could have a box for £49.Not good enough says i.Ok sir,we can do the sky+ box for free, when would you like the install.Just be firm and remain polite and you will score.I do not have SKY BB and they never tried to sell me it either.
    Edit:See here,reply no.340 by Dave,for cheaper sky numbers.

Don't waste your time at the Beckton Store or Newbuy Park - they won't do it without the tv. BUT

ROMFORD DO! Just been there and bagged one - he saw the bit where it says you have to buy a tv but just put a tick in the box and carried on. Did'nt have to buy anything in store.

    -----------------

also there have been alot of people that have been turned away as some stores will not break the terms of buying a tv

It was WBW up till yesterday, it is now available for anyone. Currys Solihull had leaflets all over the place with the offer.

Saw this on Digital Spy the other day. Seems like Curry's are saying different things to different people depending on which store you go to.

Some have walked away with a £59 Sky+ upgrade no strings attached whilst others have been told they must sign up to Sky Talk (BT land line required) and others have been told they must buy a TV to get the offer.

Thats strange, because over the last 3 months they've offered it me twice,I've not accepted it straight away saying i'll go think about it, then I phoned them up monday and said i'd accept their offer.

i'm awaiting the engineer tomorrow to come and install it ready for christmas

I always find it helps me not look like a plank if I find out the facts before hurling the verbals.

looking to get this and sky+. Going thru website w/quidco will be cheaper with £129.99 for sky plus box but with 125 quid back from quidco although quidco is not guarenteed..... Hmm decisions decisions

Utter rubbish from start to finish.

I have got myself free SKY+ (brand new PVR as well not reconditioned on a 6month contract) since sky broadband was launched, it was around the time they dropped the £10pm fee and was acheived by calling threatening to leave waiting till near the end of the 30 day then calling them up.

Hi there--i just got my 2nd multi room yest as i had phoned up to ask for a price to get a standered box in my son's room--she said she'd look at my a/c to see what offers i had on my a/c and i got a new sky+ put in my bedroom and my bedroom standard box moved to my sons room all for £49 inc installation so i'd advise to give sky a phone and see what they can offer you...FAB or what?
  27. deleted72732's avatar
p.s the phoning up top threating to cancell does work as i phoned up a few weeks back as i was so annoyed i had payed £99 for my orig sky+(2years ago) box that didnt have sky anytime and the higher gig memory i said i wanted to cancell and low and behold they offered to send out a engineer to fit a new up to date sky+ box!! I also moved house in Aug and they wanted to charge me £50 house move fee i told them to cancell my a/c as i had never payed for a house move with my sky before and then thay said out of goodwill they'd waver the £50 fee!!! So just goes to show you with sky if you aren't happy with them let them know and they really DO NOT want to loose you lol

I paid for my normal sky box outright and installation (freeview from sky) Subsequently been on a good deal for packages. If I get the Sky plus box will my freeview box still work or will I need multiroom?

well that said.....two weeks ago i rang sky and told them i loved the service but wanted to cancel as i just started a new job working through to 10pm, they offered me a sky+ install for £49, i said no its too close to christmas. i was asked to wait for a moment and then the lady i spoke to said how about we help you out and do the box and install for free.............I think the trick is to remain polite with these things....................oh and by the way i agree with the other posters that said it is class, and not sure how we did without it. Merry Christmas all

So, does this work without buying a TV then?

Sky talk is free, why would you cancel it?

I already use 18185 for all my calls anyway so my calls are free regardless of time and duration. Not sure if Sky Talk would interfer with it.

Also, am lazy and dont want to dial more digits to get through to BT's network. :whistling:

    No it wont interfere.

It will be beneficial actually if you accidentally miss 18185 sometime.
You will pay Sky (or use their free allowance) instead of BT.

I had the same. I bought a sky+ box off a friend because my standard box was playing up. Phone up sky and ask for your new box to be paired to your card. They will add sky+ on to your account for free, but because you will only have a single feed from the sky dish, you can only record whatever you are watching. I hope this makes sense!!

On the subject of parents, my Mum (68) got Sky+ about 3 months ago after spending years fiddling with the video - she thinks it's a god-send.
