Just sharing my update on this, for those on the fence: the X95L is hard to beat for any but the most expensive OLEDs. Might even take a QD-OLED to beat the kind of brightness and equally important colour volume you can get on these. I had the LG G2 for a week or so and other than contrast, I was not happy with the image at all, nor the auto-dimming (to prevent burn in) and the colour volume is lacking. They still seems to be popular regardless though for some reason. I think people see the contrast of an OLED alone and are happy enough with that. This one gives a gorgeous picture.

This won't be a revelation to most that already own this set, but here are my recommendations for picture settings:

. All the ECO modes off (and all the other things that dim the brightness)
    . Picture mode: "Custom"
    . Contrast at 90
. Brightness: 15 for a dark room, or maybe 20 for a bright room
    . Leave colour at 50
. Colour mode: Expert 1 (trust me on this, it looks gorgeous on well colour-graded movies)
. Live Colour: "Low" - try this yourself but I think it makes the colours come off the screen a bit without looking artificial
. Black Level: I like 47 for this, but some may not enjoy that
. Motionflow: Smoothness at 2, Clearness at 1
. Adv. Colour temp basic: -6 Red Gain, -3 Grain Gain, -4 Blue Gain (as per Rtings)

It's all preference at the end of the day, but I find the above gave me a great image that makes this TV worth owning. (edited)

    I have this tv,
Absolutely brilliant bit of kit and if like me you don’t want an OLED then this is the best out there at the min.
This is a fantastic price and from a very respectable retailer, I bought mine from Richer Sounds who will beat the price by £20 and offer 6yrs warranty but for sake of £20 I’d just stick with Costco as their warranty is top notch.
    👏👏👏 🔥

Thanks, why don't you want OLED? Is it not better?

This is a great price. I bought mine for £1350 from Sony in Nov. Brilliant tv, haven't noticed any blooming and it is crystal clear. Get to the Costco!

Got this tv a week or so ago - it's stunning. Probably not for hard core gamers but ticks all the boxes for everything else.

Movies look amazing on this - truly cinematic, for broadcast material the upscaling is top notch and the OS is a marked improvement over my older Sony.

Anyone know how Sony's warranty works these days? I have purchased mine from a seller on eBay. How do you register for Sony's 5 year warranty with them directly? are they fussy about invoices etc.
    i_need_bargains's avatar
Yes they are fussy about invoices, you would need to have purchased from an authorised retailer who is part of their 5 year warranty scheme. As far as I am aware eBay doesn't count but a call to their customer services would clarify that.

They have an online warranty checker so you can check the warranty period using the serial number but even so that would not negate the need for a valid invoice. (edited)

Guys can one of owner’s of the TV please confirm, if there is a 3-4 sec lag in turning on the tv with remote after switching on the wall power outlet? I’m getting paranoid with this lag

    Daft question.... tv cabinet weight.

Mine reads "60kg max load weight" then further in it says "20kg shelf weight" anyone got idea what it means. Is it 20kg per shelf or 60kg for tv etc
