    Got a blue one of these, perfectly acceptable for some DIY car maintenance as long as you have jack stands. It does drop the car quite quick as well with no way to ease it .

    I agree. Many will slate this kind of jack but I used one for years. Don't lift particularly high but enough to get wheel off and changes brakes etc. As you say always combined with axle stands. But that applies to even the big bugger jack I have now, never fancied a ton and half of metal on my lap.

    Be sure to check how high you need to go. Sounds obvious, but this will be no good for any SUV.
