I've made my opinions on these pathetic WD "deals" known so much, even I acknowledge that I sound like a broken record. A simple "LOL" will suffice, today.

What was your concern - quality, cost per GB or something else?

It's crazy that I bought one a these off ebay for £170 6 years ago (second hand but still had 2 years warranty)

Bought another one recently for £180 brand new.

HDDs are a dying breed. Even if they are still best for some things, the volumes must have fallen through the floor so economies of scale / investment in new technologies to boost capacity must have fallen off a cliff.
I want to upgrade my home server capacity, but although SSD would be fine for ripped DVDs etc, HDD is still best for recording TV etc which theoretically sees frequent writing and reading (in practice I record, forget to watch then delete months later to free up space)
