It's plenty for heating. Most UK houses can get by on 16kW for central heating easily. 24 is on the low side for Hot Water, but really it just means a slower filling bath and you wouldn't need larger unless you have two showers that run together. At 24kW, it should heat anything short of a mansion and it's down to how many baths you have.

Because they make a fortune ripping off customers, adding 500 quid on top of the boiler price plus whatever they charge for installation. Find a local honest plumber (a rare breed), and they'll have no problems fitting it.

If your house is suitable and you're looking to replace a boiler I recommend speaking to Octopus Energy to arrange a survey and get a quote for a heat pump, as the deals are remarkable compared to the price of a new gas boiler plus any ancillary work. They can give a quote over the phone I think, subject to the survey.

Two neighbours have had them installed since December and with the £7,500 government subsidy one paid £1,300 and another £3,000 odd. For that they had larger radiators installed, and existing Mega Flow hot water tanks were replaced. A team of 5 or six spent four days on each install plus a fifth day checking everything.

I heard the 1000 series are no good from my installer. He recommended the 4000 series, albeit a fair bit more expensive it comes with 10 year warranty

Had a Worscester Greenstar 28i since 2015 and it's been perfect.

It's always the same in these threads - a regular contingent of know-nothings knocking Worcester and ignoring the reviews...Worcester are still the top recommended brand according to Which.

I found it hilarious a year or so ago when this debate was had as usual and an actual boiler repairer came into the thread and said even the expensive brands use the same parts and that he'd seen the proof not just through experience but had visited the factories.

I estimate the filter and flue to be worth approximately £150 so £600 for the boiler.

These are being discontinued I believe and replaced by the 2000 as their budget boiler after poor reception from installers.

Public shouldn’t be allowed to buy products that require gas safe to install but it’s rarely enforced.

Also be careful of taking advice from Joe Blogs “experts” on here. (edited)

Good price and hot. It is amazing how cheap these are in comparison with a price after installation.
We wanted our old Baxi moved in the corner of the kitchen. Only 2m distance in comparison with its initial location. Most plumbers refused to do it, as if it breaks, they don't want to take full responsibility. We found a plumber who was willing to move it for £1,600 or to supply and fit a new one in the new place for £2,800. Most plumbers gave us a quote between £2.5-3k for a new supplied and fitted boiler. That involved new pipes from the gas meter, pipes in the ceiling, electric, etc. e-On gave us a quote £3k with 2 years interest free. We needed finance, as we were in the process of extending our new kitchen, so we had no money left. Eventually, we paid a much higher cost, 4k to British Gas for a Vaillant 5 year warranty. But it is 4 year interest free.
My point is you pay under 1k for a boiler, but with the installation, you pay 3 times more. That's ridiculous. It is 1 day of work at the most...But there is supply and demand. We contacted the company who fitted our previous boiler, and with the boiler supplied by them, the waiting time was 6 months. A very lucrative job, so they charge high prices.
My parents paid £1,000 in Eastern Europe for a new Bosch and that included fitting as well. (edited)

You learnt all of that but still paid £4k to British Gas for a 5 year warranty Vaillant? That's ridiculous.

Stark comparison here but paid £5k for a 10 year warranty (+ Option to increase to 12) Veissmann, 32kw. Every single radiator replaced for a double radiator in a 4 bed house, removal of all 15mm copper pipe, replaced with 25mm all for £5k. (Was about 18 months or so ago now so imagine as with everything this would be a bit more now though!) (edited)

I used boxt and they gave a very competitive price and have absolutely brilliant customer service. An example was I changed the installation date and due to an error some of the parts weren't delivered so it took 2 days to finish. Boxt paid the installer and extra days wage and also gave me a 300 refund for the delay.

Never know what to do with regards to our boiler as hear stories reinforcing if it isn't broke don't fix it. Glow worm 30cx installed in 2007. Last service they said numbers show it's operating exactly how it should and to be fair it does work well. Plumber also said unlikely to save any money worth mentioning on gas efficiency of a new one as mine is A+ rated. But everyone seems to think I am mad for also not replacing it considering it is 17years old, maybe just wait for it to stop working is the answer (edited)

I got one of these installed through boxt, half the price of BG muppets who wanted to erect scaffolding to change flue on 2nd floor. Fat plumber turned up, scooted up a ladder and changed flue over in 5 mins

Worcester is a below average boiler these days. Only the 4000 15kW model impresses (not the larger ones). For larger households, the Viessmann V200 remains the gold standard for efficiency and performance! (edited)

Pretty sure my parents have installed this one a few days ago as the boiler packed up after 25 years (intermittent hot/cold water)

Cost in total just below £2000 with installation, they have no complaints yet ️

Snap. And not just in the loft but jammed into a back corner at an awkward height. I assume whoever did that had ideas about converting the loft, but even so. Meters and meters of pipe run for no good reason. Couldn’t get further from mains gas and water if you tried.

Yeah I've heard these boilers aren't what they used to be ...and.apparently a lot don't like working on them cause everything is a pain to get to
I've had a couple and they've been ok to be honest

Unless you know a plumber you'll have a job getting someone to fit one they haven't supplied ...that's just a fact ...they won't like doing it for various reasons ...and it's not like they need the work

I've a guy I've used for years ...he swears by ideal boilers (which I always thought were cheap and not long lasting ) and has one himself (edited)

Hardly any boilers will modulate that low.
Maybe a viesmann 100 or intergas xclusive.
But the preferred option if you have garden space would be ASHP.

Why do people keep talking about BOXT? They quoted me £2805 to replace a like for like boiler that I can buy for £1000 Inc vat from any retailer. That's £1805 fitting for basically a days work. Boiler is a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 12Ri to be replaced with a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 12Ri. Jokers.

I had boxt about 4 or 5 years ago ...it was 1700 quid

Think most people charge around 2 1/2 ..3 grand to supply and fit a boiler ....unless its British gas then it's probably double that

4k here from British Gas, Vaillant with 5 year warranty. But we changed the location too. The only reason we went with them was 4 year interest free credit. Others were charging about 3k, but no free interest, so after 4 years, the cost would've been the same. Cash in hand with a plumber would've been about £2,600 for a cheaper brand.
