sorted byJust go through the checkout as normal and then sign in to your existing account. It will then ask you if you want a new number or upgrade an existing one. Choose upgrade and click on "Go to Basket" then you just select the number you want to upgrade and choose an option that you don't want a new sim card.
Just got off the phone. All sorted. Now back to paying £36 of the 1gig broadband for 18 months and £10 each for the x2 mobile contracts.
I'm sure others will have managed better deals but I'm happy enough with that.
It sounds like the problem is to do with the broadband upgrade trigging a price increase when it shouldn't happen because of the volt bonus. I asked if there was anything that I should or could have done differently to avoid it and he said no they just hadn't and needed to make some tweaks to link the accounts.
So fingers crossed it's sorted. If you do go with O2 and Virgin just make sure you keep an eye on your bills and call them if it goes wrong.
That was by a long way the best Virgin Media customer service experience I've had. It took 45 minutes but the bloke was polite and helpful and has (hopefully) fixed the issue.
Wait til your contract has 30 days remaining, call them to cancel, and don't accept any offer at that point. Their retentions team will then ring you back to discuss their best possible deal, which will include an O2 SIM.
I got O2 SIM, 100M broadband and landline for £23/mo this month. (edited)

That happened to me too. I received an email to say it had been dispatched but I didn't receive it so had to order again.
I've used the Asda sim method a couple of times now and it only takes about 3 days to port to and from the sim to your new sim
It’s meant to pick it up through the same name and billing address but it’s obviously not 100% accurate yet.
I got mine sorted eventually after a phone call. It’s unnecessary faff for something that should be straight forward.
Asda do free sims which you can use for porting your number to without having to buy credit
Just go through the website above if your within 14 days of starting the contract. It will allow you to apply it to your existing number! You need to already be signed in (edited)
It will also upgrade their wifi internet speed to the next tier e.g 100Mb will become 200Mb, 200Mb will become 350Mb (edited)
Just did that, upgraded my 4GB tariff to this, didn't know you could do it online. I asked on facebook if they can upgrade my tariff to 5GB as per new uSwitch deal and they told me I need to cancel my contract and re-order..
Yep that's the correct time for any contract change.
Thank you very much for the update, glad you got it sorted out.
yes and yes
not sure… probably 40p ish
Took me 2 days to get through on live chat then whats app. Good thing was when I did I got my expired new customer 100Mb Broadband at £24 which was due to go up to £44 plus £5 cost of living rise for £25 for 18 months and instant speed increase to 200Mb. Result as no spare BT line capacity in my area to go to!!. Id been offered Volt increase and sim as well but pricing/increases seemed a bit contractually vague tbh
I think I went for the option to query the bill.
Ahhh bugger!
Worth a try, you've nothing to lose.
How? I don’t get that option
Thanks
Do you know if I would have to wait until 2 April though, or is 1 April actually fine to avoid the inflation-related increase?
o2 rise is on the 25th March for your April bill.
Thanks for making those changes to your Virgin Media package. You won't need to sign a new contract.
Quick recap of what you now enjoy:Your new package now includes:Broadband: Volt Gig1 Fibre Broadband
We've removed:Broadband: M500 Fibre Broadband
Here's how your changes take effect:
Service changes were made to your account on 7th February 2022
These changes will take effect* from 7th February 2022
Your next bill will be £36.00✝ and will be created as normal on 3rd February 2022
The following bill will be £91.32✝ and include all credits and adjustments based on when the changes took effect, this is due 3rd March 2022
So they've upgraded my broadband (from M500 to 1G) but also put my prices up. That surely can't be right. I'm hoping it's a mistake but knowing Virgin Media customer service I'm not looking forward to the phone calls.
Anyone had similar? Do I need to give them a call? Should I just wait for the next bill and see what it actually comes through as. (edited)
Were you on a new customer deal? I’d ring them up, looked on google and found some people saying same happened to them
Not looking forward to Virgin Customer service phone calls... the actual product they provide has always been decent enough for me but they are one of my least liked companies when trying to contact them.
I'm on hold to Virgin right now... wish me luck. I'll post on here when they eventually pick up the phone.
I tried the online messenger but the messenger bot closed the conversation immediately saying they had too many messages to deal with. When the online bot can't cope with the amount of messages you are receiving then you know you've got problem!
Annoyingly I've had messages from O2 and Virgin saying that I was eligible for these Volt bonuses and add-ons. Virgin have even dispatched something to me which I assume is a new router to for the 1gig broadband. So everything had been going smoothly until the random bill increase email. (edited)
Good luck , terrible plava regarding your bill that should have pointed out before purchasing.
Hope you get it sorted.
So I assume I will get o2 priority like fee odeon tix etc?
Also I see from previous comments if I switch now will I have to pay the increase line rental when it goes up?
Thanks
Do you know how much it’s going up by I’m looking at the £5 pcm
I can live with that thanks
