If you’re on a proper budget a h610 motherboard can be had for £65 and pair it with an i3 12100f which is £90….good budget midrange pc

AMD giving out some proper price/performance ratio goodness now at the low/midrange end of the market. Yes Nvidia has all the features but they suck at pricing. Therefore AMD is where the good money is going at low to midrange. High end Nvidia and AMD are clown pricing.

    Bonkers!

Got this exact card earlier in the year for £225 and it was worth it at the time.
This is just silly money for a solid 1080p card that can also play plenty of games at 1440p with a few settings tweaked. (edited)

This is a smashing card for under £200. It’s super efficient and runs nearly cold. I have an MSI Mech and it barely broke 50C in Furmark. Quite possibly the best value card on the market right now, either that or a used 1660 Super.

Interesting. I thought the RX6600 was BETTER than 1660 Super not the same.

I'm happy to be educated though

    Thanks.

    Specifically, hilarious good or bad?

This should be much better than my nvidia 1060 3gb...at fairly decent price for an 8gb card too...and it runs cool, so i assume it should be quiet ?
    What's not to like ?

You'll get a LOT more performance form the 6600, well worth the upgrade.
I'd be surprised if they last long at this price.

7600s are dropping and so are the 6600 prices. I've been expecting bigger gains but it seems to be only a bit faster than 6650xt.

Yeah 7600 is going to be around £270. so worth just picking the 6650xt up for £250 or less in some places.

Would be a decent upgrade from a evga 1070 card?
    plewis00's avatar
    plewis00
Not really, they are quite close but the RX 6600 can do RT and is much more power efficient if that is important to you.

noone can see the future but one thing is for sure that prices can't go down endlessly, if the manufacturers think price for that gpu will go to £150 they will just discontinue that model and stop producing it. also these gpu chips can be produced in just one place if there will be problem at that place these will also stop being produced. How would this pair with a I5 3570k @ 4.2ghz ? Thanks

all depends on what games and which res you play my friend, it will work with your cpu but imho most of the time you will be cpu bottlenecked - good news tho is that amd drivers work better than nvidia with older cpus (edited)

So my friend actually wants a gpu now, she won't use it for gaming. Just for work, video calls and multi monitor setup.
This price is so cheap, I doubt she could do much better or would it be betterto go Nvidia in regards to Zoom Group meetings? Or can AMD handle stuff like that ok. I have no idea about AMD GPU's!
I hear this ones quite good with power too, i.e doesn't need too much and a 500w PSU is fine. She has a 550w.

Anyone see any potential issues or would this be the best bang for buck card for work/video calls while having a 3monitor setup.
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
    The.Fat.Cat
It'll handle Zoom etc just fine.
It is overkill for what she'll use it for so might be better off buying a lower end card if there is one for a lot less, maybe even go 2nd hand.

If there's nothing else for maybe £120 or less, then this one could be an option.
I'll have a quick look to see if there's anything a lot cheaper than would be fine. (edited)

Tbh any modern graphics card can handle zoom, could even get a used card on eBay such as an Rx 570 for about 60 pounds

Just checked and the 570 actually has 3 DP outputs, which is what they want. (edited)

This looks like a great value price point. I got a 3060ti for £340 quite a while back, but I regret not waiting for something like this now since I'm just a casual gamer anyway.
