As mentioned above its likely the last of the stock is being cleared out now the Poco F5 and F5 pro are out.

I picked the F5 up on the sale last week and honestly I have no idea what people have been moaning about with it. It's been the closest to stock android experience I've had in a long time outside the pixel phones. minimal miui integration but what's there is usually useful anything not so can be uninstalled or replaced by your preferred app etc.

People complaining about the speakers must have turned off Dolby Atmos, without it they aren't great with it though they are more than good. battery life has been stellar, on standby your looking at about 1% loss per every 3 hours. My wife never charged her phone for 62 hours, over those days she was at work so use was minimal until she came home then light browsing and Instagram etc. While screens on for browsing etc expect about a 1% loss every 7-8 mins, with brightness about 50% and 120hz screen refresh. Not bad at all if it manages 11 hours browsing time continuous.

Don't bother with the ultrawide and macro lens use the main camera for everything and it takes good photos. Fingerprint reader is super fast and reliable as is face unlock so long as you have some illustration even from a TV is fine but in pitch darkness it won't work.

A nice find was that on Vodafone, where we have a 5G mast that provides coverage at home, the Poco F5 does support calls over 5G without needing to "switch it on" this is only just being rolled out as far as I can tell by Vodafone but rather than dropping back to 4G the phone remains on 5G and places the call, obviously if the mast and network support it. nice to know it's supported though.

Overall it's been astonishingly good not even for the price, it would easily compete at £200 above its RRP compared to the competition. I've had iPhones, Samsung's, Huawei, Xiaomi, Sony, Nokia, pixels and more over my years. For straight up android with minimal skinning on top the F5 is banging with fast charging, nice bright screen which is more than visible in bright light I don't know what eye searing screens people need and I'm sure an s23 ultra gets brighter but really it's unnecessary and in the price bracket for which the Poco is competing the specs meet or surpass the competition.

The GT in this deal is equally capable and a great price, just I reckon 12GB ram keeps it relevant for more years down the line.

If anyone has any real world questions about the F5 though give me a message more than happy to answer any questions you might have to help you can make a decision if you were at all considering the F5

Xiaomi should allocate stock when the promo begins (I would assume so) so best to check later.

    Warranty Returns Are A Nightmare
Xiaomi handsets are excelent value and also very good handsets with the exception of the pre installed bloatware, I have owned quite a few Xiaomi handsets and I still own a Poco X3 Pro and have purchased all my handsets from Amazon except one. I had a problem wiith a Redmi handset purchased direct from Xiaomi. While it was still under guarantee the Redmi handset developed a charging problem and it was a real pain communicating with Xiaomi, countless phone calls and emails asking the same questions over and over gain, really frustrating, I gave up in the end and persevered with the charging problem, I will never purchase direct from Xiaomi ever again. Pay a few quid more if the same handset becomes available on Amazon (not a third party company on Amazon), they are excellent at dealing with warranty returns.
    ashyt16turbo's avatar
I found their returns service excellent.
Sold a phone to someone on eBay, the charger was DOA. Contacted CS via live chat. They arranged a return to the buyer's address no questions asked.

The guy received the returns label, sent it back and received the new charger in a couple of days.
Absolutely no hassle and the guy who bought it gave me great feedback for it.

I've always had a good experience with them on live chat.

Does anyone know if you can pay directly by credit card (so you get credit card protection - not paying by Paypal Account) and which courier they use for delivery - do you get proper hour by hour tracking? Are POCO known for running a decent online shop - quick despatch, help if there are problems etc? Thanks (edited)
    ashyt16turbo's avatar
Xiaomi use DPD and their dispatch is usually next day.

Heat OP, excellent prices for what are great phones, the F4 is a steal but I'd advise people go for the 8gb model for future proofing
  9. Meltigemini's avatar
I highly recommend getting the Poco F5 from AliExpress instead - codes which are always floating around take the 256GB model down to £250-270 or so. It's a lot better value than the deals posted here (I'm aware that this deal is from Xiaomi UK, but warranty support is not meant to be great with them anyway).

Myself and several others in a recent Poco F5 thread recently got our handsets and not one of us got any import fees.
    njdavis103's avatar
I have to say Xiaomi were brilliant yesterday when one of the childrens 11 Pro screen failed after 11 months. Totally new phone received a week from returning the broken phone. Not sure any other brands would replaced new in that situation, very impressive
  10. Jonnyblock's avatar
What're the significant differences between these three models?
    Kenneth131's avatar
    Processor 870 Vs 8 Gen 1
    More ram / storage
    67w Vs 120w charging

while the f4 GT has the higher spec sheet you will get better battery life out the regular F4

Is it better than iPhone 11 Pro ?

To be honest, on paper these phones look super loaded with the latest chipsets and capacity but the experience rarely translates into a premium one. While the screen would be amoled and refresh rates high, these are drains on your battery and you eventually keep the screen set at lower refresh rates. The cameras are just ok. Also too many ads. The F4 is not a massive upgrade over the F3.
Don't get me wrong, as an ex owner, these are great phones for the price but not the best experience for me. Sold mine at CEX and put in another couple of hundred quid and got a very good iPhone 12 Pro off eBay. No regrets.
Maybe I might be wrong about the F5, though, haven't tried it.
    dkj255's avatar
I've found the phones are generally ok for most people (gave my dad an F3 last year to replace the Sony thing he had), with the exception of MIUI which does like to insert ads - most can be disabled if you hunt for the individual settings - and cameras which are only usually so-so, though in reality (and good lighting), even budget ones are still capable of decent shots unless you want to zoom or crop. The reason I've sworn off Xiaomi is because their pricing recently has best been described as "ambitious" for the specs, and because I can't register any of them onto our Intune company portal thing. However, none of the Chinese brands I've tried have worked either so that's not exclusively MIUI.

Where people will notice the difference is in how long and how quickly they get updates: something the Chinese brands lag behind on, possibly as a result of how many models they release each year.

Overall I'd agree that despite the specs, it's not as premium an experience as something like Google Pixel or Samsung Galaxy, but having owned a P7 Pro and S23 Ultra, I'm not convinced that extra 'premiumness' is worth, well, the premium you pay for them, and for most people a good Xiaomi phone like the 12T Pro will be all they actually need.

Looks very likely the 256GB variant is already out of stock before the sales kicks in (buying button is greyed-out). Only the 128GB Black remaining.

According to the terms of the sale, a quantity of 100 for each model / variant will be allocated - so Mi UK should update their systems once it goes live. (But don't hold me to that). (edited)

I think it's becoming standard now that Xiamoi are not giving any options for an SD Card
    charleaward81's avatar
Issue is space, limited inside noreso with all cooling they need to include now. Also UFS 3.1 speeds being over 10 times quicker on a phone than an additional card running at less than 100mb speeds brings its performance down.

But pretty sure 256GB is enough space for 99% of people

My Poco X3 pro still going very strong. Been a few years now. Are these ones better?
    jungleboy123's avatar
agreed... was just looking at this but appears the only real benefit is the 5g.... Xiaomi have gone downhill alot since the Poco X3.... I believe they compromised on the X3 by allowing lots of bloatware/ads to lower the costs.

    Crossbow's avatar
Better in some areas gsmarena.com/com…627, but camera is poorer especially still shots - you can use the compare feature for this lower down in the above comparison, here's an example... although software updates could have improved it?

I'm not sure why it's quite so hot in here unless prices have generally really jumoed for phones in last 12minths. Spec-wise, the F4 doesn't look too much different to the mi10t lite and that was the classic £199 deal phone two years back.
  26. charleaward81's avatar
Well that was a waste, my F4 GT came completely dead and unresponsive out of the box, been on charge all evening and nothing except a white battery symbol

Tried everything, the 120W, the 33W from F3 and little 22.5W from note 11

Can't even raise a support request, fill in form says network issues, go via order select replacement and none of the buttons are active to progress and submit.

Anyone else with new GT come up with issues (edited)
    dkj255's avatar
Yep, had the same. Unplug the charger then reconnect and wait till the battery symbol comes up again. Do this a few times and eventually it should say 1% at which point it will turn on and start charging normally. (edited)

Tried Poco (X3 Pro) and got burned by them. Broke within 3 months (just froze up and was stuck in a cycle of turning on/off constantly), got it replaced under warranty and the new phone did exactly the same thing after 6 months. Really hard to find good tech support online because they're not a mainstream brand. And their OS is just awful. I've switched to Pixel since and it's just so much better in every way.
    dkj255's avatar
I agree - MIUI is what puts me off Xiaomi phones, along with slow updates (which some phones never get like the blue Redmi 10 I bought in Mar). Pixels are now my go-to phones, even if they're not class-leading in any one area, IMO they're balanced and competent all-rounders, and generally at a decent price unless just launched.
