Looks like an amazing deal initially but there are an alarming number of reviews on Amazon citing drive failures of the 2TB model. I was about to buy, now I'm not so keen: amazon.co.uk/Tra…r=2

Thanks for flagging. Am I reading those reviews right, though? 11 one-star reviews and 76 five-star reviews for the 2TB model. Is that a significantly worse ratio compared to alternatives? I genuinely don't know, and any further info appreciated.

This seems like the best deal for a while for some extra storage in my old PC.

Any reason NOT to opt for this?

Would be perfect for what you want., no real downside for your use case at this price.

Would this be okay as a boot drive in a gaming laptop? Currently have a 500gb one as the boot drive and want to upgrade for more storage. Have a 1tb alongside it currently

Yes easily good enough. Just make sure you have an M.2 NVMe based slot in your laptop

How are people getting on with these? I just tested mine and I'm getting 3,100 MB/s read and 2,600 MB/s write. Perfectly fine for my needs and an absolute bargain, but a bit down from the advertised speeds of 3,500 MB/s read and 3,200 MB/s write.

The Adata I got at the same time is performing just above its listed stats.

Is this good for an external drive to store large data which will occasionally need searching through?

Yes. Just buy an enclosure for it.

If mainly want it as a expandable drive to a laptop for day-to-day stuff?

Can I put it in Ps5?

The drive has to be pcie gen 4 for it to be compatible with ps5, this drive is pcie 3 so it would not work.

As I will purely be using it as an external drive, am I just better off getting an actual external SSD?
