What Is Generative AI?

Whether you work in film, marketing, healthcare, automobile, or real-estate, generative AI is changing the way your job is executed, and those who adapt early will reap its benefits sooner. All professions will be affected by generative AI. Its invention can be compared to the invention of photography, a true creative revolution. If you want to be part of the leaders that are advancing this revolution, this course can get you started on your learning journey.

In this course, generative AI expert Pinar Seyhan Demirdag covers the basics of generative AI, with topics including what it is, how it works, how to create your own content, different types of models, future predictions, and ethical implications.

Generative AI: The Evolution of Thoughtful Online Search

For years, we’ve relied on search engines like Google and Bing to help us navigate the ever-evolving internet. But now that reasoning engines like Chat-GPT have come onto the scene, how can you prepare for the future of online search? In this course, instructor Ashley Kennedy shows you how to get up to speed with the key distinctions and best practices of using reasoning engines that leverage generative AI.

Learn more about the core concepts of generative AI-driven reasoning engines and how they differ from search engine strategy. Along the way, Ashley interviews subject matter experts and offers easy-to-follow advice on how to harness the power of prompt engineering with thoughtful search strategies that help account for the nuances of language, tone, qualifiers, and more.

Streamlining Your Work with Microsoft Bing Chat

Learn how Bing Chat can perform a wide variety of tasks and help you streamline your entire workflow, from generating ideas and summarizing data to solving common work problems such as planning itineraries, scheduling, and communicating with coworkers. Follow along with Jess as she explains how to boost your productivity using Bing Chat, beginning with a quick primer on how chat AI tools function, then diving into how to put them to work for you. By the end of this course, you’ll be ready to perform robust online searches, generate ideas and compose text, automate your work, fact-check the results, and more.

Ethics in the Age of Generative AI

The amazing potential and opportunity of Generative AI has also brought ethical concerns. How can you address these concerns effectively as you deploy tools and products powered by generative AI? In this course, expert Vilas Dhar equips designers and decision makers to better understand and act on the emerging ethical risks and considerations of generative artificial intelligence. Get a solid introduction to the ethical concerns around generative AI, then learn how to use a framework of ethical analysis to address these concerns. Plus, explore ways you can prepare your organization to address ethics in AI across all stakeholders from technology to C-Suite leaders.

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

Computer scientists are just a small slice of people working in artificial intelligence. Most of the people working in AI are project managers, product managers, directors, and executives. People just like you. This course helps you grasp key concepts in artificial intelligence. You’ll see how AI can enhance your products, life, and career. AI has been around for over half a century. Even with its huge strides, the core ideas in machine learning and neural networks are still accessible.

This course is designed for project managers, product managers, directors, executives, and students starting a career in AI. Get a high-level overview of the top tools in the field. First, see what it means for a system to display “intelligence.” Then, learn algorithms and techniques involved in machine learning, artificial neural networks, and deep learning. Once simplified, AI looks less like magic and more like an exciting new set of technology tools.

Learning objectives

  • List the distinctions between symbolic systems and machine learning.
  • Identify challenges in natural language processing.
  • Define the various types of machine learning.
  • Explain the importance of algorithms in machine learning.
  • Determine conditions in which using artificial intelligence is appropriate.
  • Review the differences between artificial intelligence and machine learning that impact business decisions.

Keep an eye out in November or October I can't remember which, Microsoft normally run a skills month where you can opt in to 1 of about 10 courses, I've previously got exam entries to az-305 and sc-200 in those months.

Nothing is too late and have a look at the Microsoft Learn courses which are free (need a Microsoft account).

It will help you decide if there is a particular area of IT you like. (well if that's the area of interest 🤷)

I have three kids and it's hard, but 30 minutes here and there will help.

Just do it, you won't regret it

Hot if you just want to tick a box - nothing will make me sign up for the data mine that is LinkedIn just to get a gold star for my CV. Employers will lap it up though.

So the data mine that is hukd is tolerable?

How difficult was the exam? Do I need to take any notes for revision?
I’ve watched first video and it looks good so far!

I failed first time and scored 70 on second attempt.

Do I really have to have a LinkedIn in accnt for this? I don't even have a current CV to upload. Can I just create a very simple almost blank LinkedIn account (no cv upload etc) and get on this course?
    Fahzz_'s avatar
Yes, you just need an account but nothing fancy on it.

This is a lot of corporate propaganda from Microsoft....
The final (longest) course is a good high level explanation of what the techniques mean.
Still might be a useful introduction for folks, but do be aware it's Microsoft trying to sell Edge, Bing and OpenAI (that they've invested heavily in) rather than a course to actually teach you
    ALW_'s avatar
Yes is a marketing course that biases Microsoft tools.

Posting here to remind myself to come back to this thread earlier in the day and not when I'm about to go to bed. Free courses like this are always a win and definitely worth doing

Such marketing bull, they refer to it as generative ai, yet that hasn't been proven to have been achieved yet (at least according to the leading voices on the subject)
    sarah_collier's avatar
Surely it's generating something. Other people's work for a start

Started the course and then LinkedIn restricted my account so I can’t complete the course nor access my certificates. No idea why. Responded to verification requests but no joy. (edited)

Took the AI course but it all it said I was an inferior species and they had already deployed a T-800 to my house when i logged in, whatever that means.
  18. axg22's avatar
    Anyone have link to course.

    Thank you, OP. Heat given.

Passed first time with 80% (without using AI or other exploits) and studied over a series of three or four days to coincide with my schedule.

My advice to anyone taking this with significant anxiety is to write down the explanation of model terms and examples given to help you grasp the concepts. The final exam expects you to have absorbed this knowledge throughout and gives you lots of role-play questions with the expectancy that you understand the definitions taught to you via the videos in-length.

I feel I could have scored higher if I used a notebook to jot some terms down to help refresh my memory as it's a lot to retain. Nice to have this on my CV. Hope it opens some more career doors for me. (edited)
