Can this handle windy days like for example if I wanted to video whales at sea?
    restyler's avatar
This guy tests out the Mini 3 on a very windy day - its much better than I expected
His other drone videos are pretty educational as well

I keep having to talk myself out of buying a drone, because I have no use for one, other than as a toy. But the prices on these now are unbelievable. I'm running out of excuses not to get one
    vinsona85's avatar
If you frequently visit new places it's a great buy, but if you normally end up at the same place, then alot of the time it just stays in the box.. but when you do visit a new place.. its like a new 'toy' again. Also once everyone knows you have one, they start asking .. could you just.. like family who wanted pics of the holiday home at the lakes after renovation or to show progress of the new building site for socials.. not always pretty stuff being filmed but still a really fun thing to buy. I would also say if you can get the inbuilt screen defo go for it, having to get your phone out each time does become a pain after a while.

Also the number of kids who go.. wow look it's a drone ! makes you look cool for about 2 mins

Oh and it's very unlikely you need 2 batteries.. I bought a spare and never used it. once you get used to the func you can quickly 'get it up' and get the result you need . (edited)

DJI MINI 4 goes on sale on Monday. This might get even cheaper.
    suniil's avatar
Mini 4 pro with 360 degree obstacle avoidance and OcuSync 4.0

Price may go down but this is a great price drop
  6. sequeezer's avatar
What’s the difference between the pro and non pro? Camera resolution or is the controller different? Only use it a few times a year for some holiday shots.
    jools19's avatar
Non pro doesn't have the optical avoidance sensors, here is some text from Heliguy website that should explain...
    Both drones have a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, but the Mini 3 Pro's sensor has 48MP, while the Mini 3 has 12MP. The Mini 3 Pro can shoot 4K @ 60fps video, the Mini 3 tops out at 4K @ 30fps;
    The Mini 3 Pro features DJI's upgraded O3 transmission for greater transmission distance and reduced latency, while the Mini 3 has the older O2 transmission;
The Mini 3 benefits from 38 minutes of flight time, while the Mini 3 Pro has 34 minutes

Bloody hell this is a good deal. Especially for the DJI RC

Decent price to get into drones tbf, I bought a mini 3 pro the other week came in at around £560 with the screen remote, bought care refresh ontop, fly more kit and some filters and wide angle lens, loving it so far.

All in all I spent around £780 after cashback deals... steal to what the mini 4 pro will be in equiv package to start off, and for a few basic upgrades (I've modded my controller with some decent aerials that's the big flaw especially being in the UK with CE signal, the range is horrendous) there's FCC mods but the aerials mod has made a huge difference for me, given be another 2km+ range and solid feed within that, up fron 600m.

Highly recommend this for the price with the screen remote if you're getting into drones, then take a step up into a cheap mini 3 pro/4 pro in a years time.

Just wish DJI sold the extended batteries (or fly more plus kit) here, but it takes the weight over 249g and you will need to make sure you got the appropriate certificate to play 250g+ drones (kinda silly really but is what it's) but I think that's my next venture to grab some, do that and if I keep enjoying this Mini 3 pro to maybe get a bigher drone or try out some FPV in the future! (edited)
    mixtlupus's avatar
Sub 250 Drones require an Operator ID (which must be on the drone), 250g and up Require an Operator ID and a Flyer ID (which has a small test with it but is free), to be fair I don't see a reason not to get a Flyer ID as it lets you fly heavier drones (within higher legal restrictions) and it's free and teaches you the rules.

Very close to biting on this. Does anyone know if the Costco website allows you to use PayPal Credit? Cant seem to find anything online (unless I'm being blind)

Yes PayPal credit is an option, that’s what I plan on doing on Monday (edited)

A couple of the farmers near me call these modern clay pigeons, you should never fly them over other peoples land or property. They don't mix well with a 12 bore.

    FYI:
When you do the firmware update, then the Flysafe database you *need* the drone to be outside and get its GPS location or it will just continually fail at 40%

Haven't opened the extremely small box yet what with Storm Agnes pumping us but, is there a nice hard case to put the drone in and if not any recommendations?

I purchased a DJI Mini 2 Flymore from Sainsburys almost 2 years ago and it had a great case but went t*ts up so had to return.
    williamdavies1's avatar
I’m in the same predicament not opening mine yet and also undecided on whether to get the care plan which I think needs to be purchased very close to when the drone is activated. I’ve had this case delivered Okima Storage Bag for DJI Mini 3 Pro-Newest Portable Mini 3 Pro Drone Case Travel Handbag Carrying case Compatible with DJI Mini 3 Pro, DJI RC/DJI RC-N1 Remote Controller and Accessories-(Black) amzn.eu/d/4…95k quality seems great

With the UK drone laws getting tighter soon you won’t be able to fly drones anywhere
    vinsona85's avatar
tbh i'm sure most of us are taking pics when its relatively quiet and with friends and family.. not taking pics during a festival / busy crowd / city centre so i think we'll be okay

Just bought it last week at £479 for my Dad for the RC controller, though Costco do have 30 day price adjustment policy so should be ok for anyone who did the same and bought it back then.

Kept saying OOS but I got lucky and stock became available on 25th Sept. I have received it today. Never used a drone before though. Will give it a try now
  34. Poults77's avatar
I have this and unless you need to fly in forests or want to track objects this is perfect. Remote is brilliant. The drone is easy to use and the price is ridiculous. I would suggest using the savings to buy an Extra battery
  35. Snig's avatar
I might have missed it but I haven’t seen mention in these comments that the Mini 3 does 48MP stills (raw or jpg) following an update earlier this year. I can’t see any compelling reason to go for the pro over this.
