Got a similiar sharp 55" 4 years ago on the same lidl offer but for £250 instead, mine had 4 hdmi (1 was ARC) and 2 usb sticks.
Great TV BUT the interface is slow, really, really slow. No bother if you're just using it for a Firestick/android TV/XBOX. Quality is great and it still works a treat. Can play files directly for a USB stick and android TV does work, just very, very, slow as mentioned earlier. Frustratingly slow.

tl:dr Good tv, great price, bad interface, not a problem if using firestick/chromecast/xbox/ps (edited)
    LadyEleanor's avatar
I get the impression most cheap ones still use a 28nm or lower chipset combined with the slowest EMMC storage memory they can find.

Even the most budget new Firestick is blazingly fast in comparison.

Just a tip for anyone that picked up the Android Sharp 50" TV. Turn off auto-updates in Android otherwise the TV can get really laggy on the interface as it seems to be constantly checking for them. Just scan for updates manually every few weeks or so and it will improve your experience with the TV. I switched them off a few years back and have been doing it this way since. (edited)

Prepare yourself to switch it off at the plug and back on 4 times a day because it crashes and is painfully slow also the screen is so washed out and dull.
    Smoggy1970's avatar
    On which model?
  4. ezzer72's avatar
Only 2, yes TWO hundred and ninety nine pounds, for a 55" LG UHD.

No need to check the years etc. on these, they are not bought by enthusiasts

Are sharp tvs any good? Debating whether to get a sharp for £50 used or a Sony for £150. Both 4k. Cheers
    Dude1971's avatar
Sony are much better - Sharp are this price for a reason

    Vestel
    Daray's avatar
No. It's the true SHARP. Vestel uses Toshiba, JVC brands.
  7. jcg's avatar
So both of my locals had one TV each.
    Rapture124's avatar
My local had 2, which were gone when I got there at 950. Didn't realise Lidl let people in at 930 to "browse"
  8. malachi's avatar
How sharp is the picture on these?
    ezzer72's avatar
Very where it shouldn't be, and not at all in areas where it should.

Sharp, back when Man utd were a good team

The Company owners son Lee was allowed to play for the Man utd as part of the Sponsorship deal.

No HDR? I thought it was basically standard with 4k tvs, then again I'm still using an old LG 1080p 3d TV so what do I know, I'm just waiting for 120hz hdmi tvs to come down in price.
    Yahyasajid's avatar
HDR is the most slapped on meaningless certification these days, HDR 400 looks horrible and you're not getting a decent experience on sub £300 TVs

If you want HDR your budget is probably £500+
  11. Adam.F's avatar
Got it! See a a staff member go in and get one even though I was told there was only one in stock

I only saw 4k Toshiba and 4k Sharp advertised. But going round the stores today I only heard 1080p Sharps were available. Feels like a bait and switch by Lidl
    Cuddl3s's avatar
It was definitely bait, my locals had none, one staff I asked was oblivious they were ment to have TVs in
  13. pied_piper's avatar
Great Sharp TV at this price if you use fire stick with it, been using for a couple of years and it does what it is supposed to do at a fraction of the price of other brands.
  14. MDL199's avatar
These seem excellent deals but I'm betting very few will be available but hopefully I'm wrong.

What is the difference between two sharp 42 inch TVs?
    samfooty's avatar
    Have a read
  16. Stefanbluesky's avatar
Seeing the sharp logo reminds me of man u and as a city fan I just couldn't have this in the house.
    samfooty's avatar
I hate to tell you mate but there's probably loads of stuff in your house already that United have been sponsored by
  17. tomMannix's avatar
It would be interesting to see if anyone actually got one of these , I've just been to 3 stores in Leicester, and was first in the queue and didn't get one
  18. Queequeg's avatar
How weird, I tried several stores in Wales AND England (I'm on the border) but it always says "not available in your region" for the sharp 50". Had to choose stores in Surrey or London for it to say available from the 19th. What a whacky promotion!
    Marcus_72's avatar
It does say this at the top.....

The product is only available in certain regions. Select your Lidl shop now so we can show you the availability in your region. We will save the selected shop for you permanently.
  19. Weimaraner's avatar
    Decent for the kids bedroom
  20. burmingum's avatar
Only getting "not available in your region message" after selecting a few places.

We’ve got one of these Sharp tvs from Richer Sounds and very pleased. For the money you can’t fault it. Being picky the only issues are as follows: can’t figure out how to set a reminder for a show and the tv guide is a little bit slow to come up ( talking a few seconds). Accessing Netflix of any of the other streaming/ catch up services is fine. Sound is good as is the picture. We’ve also got the 32 inch again from Richer Sounds and that is also very good.
  22. jane9766's avatar
Is there any coming to Northern Ireland please ?
    cfcshaneb's avatar
Yes I would say the one up in Derry beside the Iceland Buncrana road

Lidl had this exact same TV on a few years back. I own the Polaroid branded version of it that Asda used to sell. It is exact same model as this. I'm still using it as my main TV 2 1/2 years on. The picture is very good and vibrant. The sound is average but I've got it paired up with a soundbar via the arc socket so it's all seamless. The interface has gotten laggy over time the more Android updates have installed, but overall I'm still happy enough with it not to upgrade. Plenty of sockets too. Also, it isn't a Vestel. I'd say at £179 it's a steal. Here's a link to my post from a few years back:

Have to look at your like app and chose your store then you can see the local deals and national. I'm in Kent and it shows me only the 42inch and I am debating this as we have an old 32 inch barely useable tv.. but we can use the Wii on it

I got a 49 inch Sharp TV from Tesco in their black Friday deal about 6 or 7 years ago for £199 and this is the first time that price will have been beaten since then I think?! For £20 less am tempted to get this as there won't be another deal as good for a while.

This deal won't be for the TV affacinados out there but for those who want a cheap telly it's a steal!?

BTW I don't think Sharp has gone downhill that much. I actually met once by pure chance about 3 years ago a guy from Sharp quite high high up in the marketing department and he said they have already developed a huge TV that you can fold away and store in a brief case. So maybe in 20 years time that deal will be on here too!
  26. bravo2zero1's avatar
Mother in law has the 43inch one of these. So far the remote has packed up so had to order one from sharps parent group which took a shed load of messing about. The soundbar makes the android OS think it’s using headphones and keeps limiting the sound to hardly audible. The TV struggles big time with anything more than channel changes , the lag can be very frustrating even just accessing the option menus.

No delivery from Lidl so cold from me.

Northern Ireland usually have different Lidl deals to Britain. Anyone if these are NI also ?
  30. boycerip1's avatar
Would Google Play be available on this?
  31. Uchiha_Monkey's avatar
How do you check which store will have which item? Do you need lidl app or something? Thanks
  32. Queequeg's avatar
When you click on get deal and go to the lidl website, there is a store selector button at the top of the page. Select a store, and the website will update the product page to say 'not available in this region' or available from the 19th November. Most stores I tried said no, seems only a few areas will have it and I guess it will be limited stock. Could be the great Christmas goose chase!

I'll find my black Friday TV & watch it from my prison cell if need be... So stay away from Lidl this black Friday, it's mine 😄
    ezzer72's avatar
Not worth doing the time mate - though the TVs in prison will almost certainly have better picture quality
  34. tracker's avatar
Why do people think these tv's are any good. These are the most rubbish TV's avaibke with crappie picture and the worst processor, which means it will take forever to load anything up. A complete waste of time. Either get a discontinued model which is high spec at a low price or just don't bother.
    Yahyasajid's avatar
It's 50" for £180, I don't think anyone's expecting to be blown away by quality
  35. joe140's avatar
    This or the Amazon deal?
  36. CrazyBob's avatar
I went to three locals looking for the Sharp 50" this morning.
First one had two LG's second had sold the one LG they had. Third had sold out but there was a guy walking out with a Toshiba when we got there. Assistant said they didn't get any Sharp's
    jcg's avatar
I was after the 50" too
  37. malcolm_earnshaw's avatar
Yeah all staff took them was there when the doors opened
  38. Adam.F's avatar
Currently in the queue waiting for the doors to open with a ticket for the only one in stock

Went to another store and see them out the 'back' but were clearly reserved for the staff and wouldn't sell me one.
  39. mmmwoah's avatar
There were 5 Toshibas in Hamstead Birmingham store this morning whe Ln they let customers in for browsing
  40. WNI's avatar
Wanted the 50". Tried 3 in South London, only 1 had x3 43" in stock. Other two shops had sold out, when asked by someone in the queue, "how? You didn't even open yet." the answer was "was bought by staff".

I appreciate this, but they should ship more out, or try to condense the amount of shops that get it, no point in giving 10 TVs to each shop . Well done to anyone that got one!
