About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Received this promo from Vodafone this morning - they are working with a fuel reseller who are offering a diesel card that saves drivers up to 30p per litre across thousands of petrol stations including BP, Shell and Esso.

It looks like you need to pay £9.99 for the card which is discounted from £19.99 with the veryme code.

I signed up and they have a fixed weekly price in the portal and this week diesel is 140p per litre - which is on par or maybe slightly cheaper than Costco.

Done some research and looks like it's diesel only, sorry petrol drivers

If you don't have VF, the deal links out to this one -

That 30p will be based on motorway service station prices. In the real world it is likely to be 5p.
But that is not knocking the deal at all. My fuel card does not give me that sort of discount

Looks like a cracking deal if you use a decent bit of diesel. In Cornwall the absolute cheapest I can get today is 149.7p at Asda. This week's price on the card is 140.92. Even with the 1.2% transaction fee that's 142.6p per litre. On my van that's a saving of £4.30 per tank and I use about 3 tanks full a month.

So, allowing for the annual fee I'll save approx £146 per year.

Not sure about other areas but in Cornwall you can use this at most of the independent forecourts and a few mainstream ones. No supermarkets though, so plenty of coverage.

Also the code to sign up is 'VERYME' (edited)

Get an Esso Wex card - pump price refreshes weekly, this week's Diesel price is £116.64 per litre (£139.96 inc vat) ...

That's a fair saving on the advertised pump price @ Esso Falmouth of £151.9

My Esso Wex card is issued free via my Employers benefits scheme, but would normally cost £49 per year. Can also use it at other fuel stations without a major discount. Blue Light Card holders can also get an Esso Wex card free of charge, but the discount is only 4p per litre off the pump price.

Not that many Esso garages near me and the standard user would have to pay VAT so the price is pretty much the same and this card gives the discount at Shell, BP etc - annoyingly we don't have a this employee benefits scheme.

Not sure if it's worth it. Also as mentioned they charge you as well transaction fee! In my area I would be saving 4p and that's if the card is accepted at the garage. I guess it depends on where you live and how much diesel you use in one car, you can't use on other cars. I would also have to drive past 3 or 4 cheaper petrol stations to get to the nearest on their location map. Likewise at our holiday home, need to drive past Asda, sainsbury and cheaper garages. Sounded good to start with but not worth it for me. (edited)

I use about £300-£400/month in diesel for my commute to work, loads of fuel stations near me, seems great to me. Thanks for posting will give this a try!

Has anyone tried this and is this really worth? Also where can I find list of participating store without creating an account??
    Andrew_Smart's avatar
51726718-oRoPk.jpgYou do need to make an account to see the map, but you don't need to pay anything. just sign up and see it

as you can see its pretty fair, includes mainly MFG and morrisons stations. Not that it matters, as the card makes the price the same regardless of which station (edited)

i had the same thought, when i created my account, the following page it had a 'diesel card finder' button when i scrolled down so i checked which stations were around me before making the transaction

yeah the motorway stations take the p*ss, i filled up yesterday evening at my local BP and it was 1.57p so would have been a 17p saving if i had waited a day.

If you look at the picture of the card it says UK, that’s the logo for UK fuels, generally they are widely accepted, but theres a monthly 1.2% service fee, or £2 if you don’t use the card, and the balance isn’t live it’s done manually so you theoretically you would always need money on the card because you can’t just top up and then fill up

Yeah they have a 1.2% transaction fee but seems they've removed the £2 fee as they don't mention this in the t&c's at all

Despite being a vodafone mobile snd broadband customer I don't seem to get their rewards tried chat but every time I get to front of Q pick up phone it kicks me out they really are very poor to deal with.

Are you using the very me app? Both myself and my partner have never had any issues getting the rewards.

    Laszlo's avatar

Firstly, thank you Harry for posting and welcome to HUKD..

I've got a few questions about fuel cards and was wondering if anybody could help as I only recently came across fuel cards. Me and wife fill up diesel approx £180-200/month at least, some months more so this seems like a good deal (?). I've got a few questions on how it works...

    * Do you literally sign up, pay £20/annually and they provide you with a card/pin to pay?
    * Is the 1.2% each month for the amount to you spend? For example, if we're filling up £200/month, an extra ~£2.40/month fee.
    * Do you use the card as a credit card and get charged for it next month or is it a matter of having a pre-paid amount of money in the account beforehand which gets deducted?
    * I'm assuming the rate/value they, ie I just created an account and it's quoting £1.40 this week - will this be refreshed weekly?

If anyone could help clarify the above, I'd greatly appreciate it. Because a family member tried to get me a referral to another account but that only benefited me by 3-4p due to the amount I fill up, so wasn't worth the aggro. But I'm weighing up this (if not open to other suggestions) if it's saving me more and I've got family members/friends who'd benefit too.

Yes its an annual fee for the card, the veryme code makes the card £9.99 - getting sent a card to use for december.

    - Yes

Pre-paid - the card is topped up at the start of every month

    * I'm assuming the rate/value they, ie I just created an account and it's quoting £1.40 this week - will this be refreshed weekly?
Assume so, says its refreshes weekly - be interested to see the price on monday

Thanks for sharing, I hadn't really spotted it on the Very Me app. I'm trying to work out if it will be a good scheme for us, luckily the petrol station in our village is included, I'll check the bank statements to see how much my husband spends on deisel a month.

Having read through the comments, I appreciate that the 30p off a litre relates to 30p off motorway filling station prices. However, if you're someone that does a lot of miles and this card shaves 30p off the motorway prices, that has good value so that you can benefit from the convenience of a service station on the motorway without having to pay their overinflated prices.

FYI - it seems they've reduced the price of the card to £7.99 with a new code VERYME2, my wife got an email this morning about it as she had signed up but didn't get round to purchasing the card.
