Can anyone advise me as to whether this would be a step up from the Poco F2 Pro please? (edited)

Which one would you say is the best value? Not so concerned about overall pricing but looking to upgrade still and haven’t made a decision yet. Big fan of xiaomi from previous devices.

If you're not playing games the Note 13 Pro 5G is IMHO the best value - it has a very good 200MP camera, great screen, Victus glass in the front, glass back that isn't a fingerprint magnet, headphone jack and a decent power efficient processor (600K points in AnTuTu 10).

If you are playing games go with the Pro+, it's a performance monster.

I'm not saying this isn't a good phone, but just wondering whether it might be worth waiting a little longer to get hold of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro Max 5g??? It's got similar specs, but with the exception of:-

    MAX VS PRO+
    12gb vs 8gb ram,
    5200mah vs 5000mah battery,
    144hz vs 120hz refresh,
    32mp vs 16mp (front)
    13mp vs 8mp (rear ultra-wide)
8mp vs 2mp (portrait vs macro)

For me it's these new always on displays... They only stay on for 10 seconds which just defeats the object. I'm gutted as I love these new handsets but I need an always on display
    CarlWeathers's avatar
I've read that if you disable 'MIUI optimisations', then the always-on-display stays on beyond 10 seconds. I haven't tried it myself, and it might lead to other niggles in MIUI, but it could be an option.
  5. pc5020's avatar
whats better, the note 13 pro or the poco x6 pro?
    pc5020's avatar
looking at the specs it looks like the poco overall but the note 13 pro has the better camera, and a slightly larger battery. (edited)

@MrSwitch this or S23 or Pixel 8? Battery and camera most important factors. Have been with Galaxy flagships for last 4 gens but not sure if worth it anymore?

Also, any experience with warranty in UK? I take it this has normal Google play store?
    b4dr1's avatar
I hold both pixel 7 pro and s23 ultra. Anyday Samsung is better. Pixel is cheap stuff in terms of hardware, proprietary Google camera software is the only advantage I can think of
  7. aronheath38's avatar
Hi the pro+ looks a good device good cameras and quite a powerful processor does anyone have this phone yet do you get your notification okay looks like MIUI 14 has problems with receiving notifications but looks like there are fixes wonder if fix works? (edited)
    aronheath38's avatar
Caz it's all over the Internet mate problems receiving notifications with MIUI 14 have a Google there are fixes to try to improve receiving notifications I can't comment how effective they are as don't own the phone (edited)

Thanks! Note 13 Pro+ ordered. Hopefully a good successor to my dead Xperia 1 IV..
Happy to see great gifts included (edited)
    AMJensen's avatar
The Note 13 Pro+ is a significant downgrade on the Xperia 1 IV
  9. djp2k8's avatar
Specs are better than my Poco F5 Pro! I've just checked & I have 1128 Mi points to use. Now do I try to sell my F5 Pro & then get a 13 Pro+ I wonder?
    Mihai3451's avatar
The F5 pro is way better bro , don't sell it
  10. ItsFrazer's avatar
My s21 ultra is smashed in... Still usable for now... thinking about downsizing to the s21+ for about 250 but just seen this. I'd appreciate your opinions
    Crossbow's avatar
If camera quality is important to you, then avoid this one.
Also, MIUI may take a little getting used to, & updates support not as good as Samsung.
No good camera phone exists for the £250-300 mark, so your best bet is to go secondhand for a known good one, but you may already realise this.
  11. ade2j's avatar
Just gotta decide whether to upgrade from the 10 pro :/
    MikeyMike05's avatar
I have the same dilemma, even though I wasn't even considering upgrading :). I suppose the trade in value might help decide it.

My Note 10 Pro is a fantastic phone, including the AptX codec for audio!
I just yesterday extended the 6GB to 8GB using 2gb of the 128gb diskspace.
To be honest I don't even notice the lack of 5g.
  12. ButterCupPeanut's avatar
From a quick search, apparently these Note 13 phones are getting 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates. Seems great for the price. I've been thinking of buying a Pixel for the 7 years of guaranteed updates, but is it worth it? Surely the battery will be shot well before then, and when that happens you might as well get a new phone. 3/4 year seems like a good middle ground. (edited)
    formsm2000comp's avatar
Go for Xiaomi. Google is a Micky Mouse company. Xiaomi is one of the best companies in the world.
They have to be innovative to get the brand snobs. Things such as including a charger in the box and 120W charging. Samsung and Apple don't have to do this because they have professional fan boys and girls who will buy their products each year. They would do this even if it was a downgrade from the previous year.

    Redmi Note 13 for £169.
    IDUNNOWHATIWANT's avatar
    Where is this please? Thanks
  14. herby247's avatar
Xiaomi have 120W hyper charge, and the charger IN THE BOX!
    ...
Samsungs £1000+ ULTRA top of the line.... With 45W "super charge", (charger NOT included).

Samsung should be embarrassed with those charge speeds. (edited)
    john841's avatar
Lithium ion Vs lithium polymer is part of the reason you pay the extra, and charging at slower speeds is probably better if you've got a polymer battery so I'm not sure what state the Xiaomi will be in after a year or two of 120W charging

Anyone else found out that some banking apps, such as Halifax don't work after the recent update to hyper OS
    morty's avatar
This has happened with many different custom roms as well because some banks do not only use google verification but other methods so they see this and custom roms as unauthorized.

This is another area Xiaomi are poor when it cmes to having latest secuirty updates and getting put on whitelists.

I've had redmi phones for years and like them but seem to be a bit pricey now. Was just about to buy Motorola Moto G84 5G. I really need a phone which takes esim now. Wondering if this one's better. Motorola only £199 now though. Any advice?

I got the g84 for 175 two weeks back. Via perksatwork. Excellent phone. Highly recommend

There doesn't seem to be anything out there from Xiaomi that actually beats the spec of my mi11
This has probably been the best phone I've had but I was tempted with the redmi note 13 pro plus but Screen size, pixel, resolution, wireless charging, aptx HD Is all better or present on my current model

What phones have Xiaomi got that are better than the mi 11 at a mid price point?

I'm also in the £200-£300 market.
The Edge 40 Neo deal looks excellent, but I'm a little unsure what may be best.
The Neo, one of these models, or something else.

Fed up with my Pixel 5, hoping one of the options I listed above would give me a nice upgrade
    JamesB83's avatar
I'd say the edge 40 neo for £240 on amazon or £210 on perks at work would be the best deal going currently. Not sure if this is the new price of these or they'll go back up for they were £300 only a few weeks ago. I have one and it's nice but a little small compared to these phones which may be a plus or minus

Hello MrSwitch, I recently posted the deal for Redmi Note 13 which is merged with your deal Redmi Note 13 Pro. The deal I've posted is different from your deal. Your's is Pro and mine is Just Note 13. Can you please review it once again. Thanks
    one_eight_seven's avatar
It’s the same deal no? Note 13 5G 8/256GB for £219, your deal is just for this phone and his is a 3-in-1 deal (3 phones in 1 post) and I don’t think he can do anything once the deals have been merged.

I've just received and unboxed my Note 13+ Pro today. The display is gorgeous. Vibrant and crisp. I love the curved display. It's nice and slim and feels really good in the hands. It feels more premium than my Poco F5 Pro.
    Caz42's avatar
Do you prefer the curved to the flat screen then ? Does it seem as fast as the F5 pro ?

Ordered said was supposed to be coming today at 2-3 dpd.

Nothing came checked the tracking and Xaimi requested it be sent back no notifications nothing. Customer service number doesn’t work went on chat and said it would be 3 days before they could look into it. Thinking there is something fishy going on right now …
    BargainHunta96's avatar
Oh no. I had an issue when I bought the Xiaomi 13T Pro in October. The item never arrived. They sent me a keyboard instead. Called up CS and they said they would investigate the matter. They took months. I had to keep calling back for an update as there was no communication from their side. They just kept saying the same thing over the phone. The proof was there as they sent me a 2nd tracking number with my actual order showing that the item was sent back to the warehouse. Yet they still insisted on investigating the matter before eventually I called in November after waiting patiently. I had enough. On that same day I got an email saying the refund was on the way. Terrible experience with them and also DPD. Good Luck as you will need it and you'll have to be patient as well.

Been thinking of upgrading from my Note 10 Pro... but still not sure if this is the phone to make me pull the trigger. Xiaomi no longer seems to be offering as good value/specs as they used to (edited)
    Zosia's avatar
Note 10 Pro is still pretty good phone, with 3.5mm jack, flat screen and SD card. It's also light and relatively small. Mine is doing fine. I use it for work, it sits in a pocket and you can forget, it's there. (edited)

The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. Probably one of the best sub £350 phone released (imo) in the last 5 years.

But £279 for the Note 13 Pro 5G is so damn tempting!!

Proper shame that they changed the back of the purple 13 Pro+ from vegan/eco leather on the China version to glass for the global release.

Vegan leather has way more grip for those who don't like using cases, it doesn't shatter when dropped and it's lighter.

Cameras seem to be pretty crappy, looking at the initial Gadgetbyte review.

What happened to Xiaomi as a midrange champ, they used to be super competitive on that front but things seemed to take a bit of a dive, camera wise, on their budget range since I got my Note 10 Pro, which itself wasn't quite as good as some of the reviews suggested... especially in low light where I assumed, the first time I tried the camera, that I must just have a bad sample; much, much better in decent light, surprisingly good dynamic range, but all in all, especially low light, still not quite what I'd hoped for. Still, you work with what you've got and the addition of a gimbal improved the 4K footage to the point that it was sort-of useable but in no sense a 'flagship killer', which in fairness it wasn't being promoted as, just that the 'flagship killer' hysteria terminology was alive and well, back then with Xiaomi's name not infrequently heard, whether that was a fair appraisal, or not.

The footage from the cameras with the Note 13 Plus model seems to be a bit better but, of course, that's more expensive and, unfortunately for me, sub £300 is perpetually, roughly, keeping in mind inflation and nasty things like that, my biting point.
    ButterCupPeanut's avatar
Are GCam ports still a thing? I've used them on all my past Xiaomi phones, or any non-Google phone for that matter. Don't think other companies' stock camera apps can really compare to Google's.
