25% off refurbished Sage coffee machines from idoodirect (authorised reseller) using code HOME25.

They have three grades, Good (6 month warranty), Very Good and Certified Refurbished (12 month warranty) with examples of each condition in the listing pics. 30 day returns.

It's worth having a proper look through their listings as many of the products/grades are duplicated and many have a 'Make an offer' button (in my experience they reject almost all offers but worth a try!).

    Heat.
I have been trying to decide between getting a new Delonghi Dedica Arte or a used Sage Bambino -
    makeespresso.co.uk/blo…no/ -
Don't suppose anyone has owned both?
    Je00057's avatar
I have owned both and much prefer the Sage! Steam wand is better and I really like the automatic frothing function so I can lazily froth milk. I actually owned the delonghi first and the steam wand broke so I used that as an opportunity to get the Sage and have never once regretted the switch

Why anybody wants to use a machine as noisy as these first thing in the morning is beyond me

    Because …… coffee?

The Sage Grinder for 142 is a great deal, I got this for 189 recently and it looks awesome in the kitchen. The only negative (potential clumping) you can overcome with a WDT tool. There is the potential for some beans, where you may feel like you want an extra level between each grind setting, meaning level 4 is too coarse, and level 5 is too fine. But it's probably in 1/10 bags of beans you will buy. generally, you will find a perfect setting.
Be wary of these "Pro" single dose grinders from Aliexpress or Amazon unknown brands, with most failing fast.

I got a Bambino from these a few weeks ago. Very minimal marks on it as a used item. Original box and even came with the cleaning tools. I got a great price too. Do it. You won't regret it

I got a new Bambino plus just before Christmas and personally don’t really like it much.

the design is actually terrible. The water spout is way too high above the drip tray, so when you pull an espresso, you get a ton of splash back on the machine and worktop, plus half of the shot pours down the outside of your cup due to having an inconsistent pour.

The machine is also very light and very round, so sometimes if the portafilter won’t go in smoothly, you’ve got nothing to grab onto to assist. The machine just slides around!

There’s also a temperature gauge for the milk frother that says “keep dry”….. on the drip tray. Yeah, good luck with that.

After the hassle and the mess though, I’d say eight out of ten cups are tasting good, and they’re always a good temperature

Weighing is nothing to do with the quality of the machine btw, it’s used if you want to properly dial in your grind and ultimately get the consistent taste you want. The info on baskets above is v important. The unpressurised baskets are a great addition to the Plus. Getting great results using them. You can get a much better separate grinder than the big combo machines for the same money + the option to only have to replace one in case of an issue is hard to ignore, good grinders should last for years and years and a lot of them are v repairable too.

Level above the bambino plus might be something like a nice Gaggia Classic with mods 🤷‍♂️. The bambino is a great gateway machine that should last at least as long as the 2 year warranty 🙏. It’s not the most repairable thanks to how much they’ve packed into such a small form factor…

Bambinos out of stock but plenty of the larger machines still available.

Got one of these refurbished units about 2.5 years ago. Have been really happy with it and make a lot of espresso each day but it’s recently stopped pumping water. Pretty sure it’s down to me not descaling enough. All around a great buy but keep on top of the descaling.

Would be happy to buy it off you if you needed rid of it :-)

Not sure why this is expired when plenty of machines still in stock?

Really nice coffee machine and easy to use love mine. Just waiting for a decent priced safe grinder to match

Thanks!! I am just returning a Sage Pro (didn’t think was worth the price) but £168 for Bambino Pro is a bargain.

Just had to do a return with this seller and they were really helpful.
    bigtom's avatar
Did you have to pay for the return? Really tempted to order but would like the option for a free return if it's not in OK condition.

Are these refurbs of returned units within the 28 days some shop give? I.e. lightly used?

You'll probably want their "Certified - Refurbished" condition, you can filter on their shop page

We got an Oracle Touch refurbished from these at £650 for Xmas. V small dent on one side, otherwise looks great. Service menu suggested it had made <90 coffees (though I don't know how reliable that is admittedly). Been enjoying it a lot!

Is the bambino steam wand better then the one on the express or the same ???
    Palmz21's avatar
4 hole on bambino plus, like the Sage Pro I think. 1 hole on the Bambino.
  19. Crowberry's avatar
One of these will be my return for sure

Have they improved in reliability? When was last shopping for a coffee machine the failure rates put me off.
  21. srb_'s avatar
Anyone tried registering with sage for warranty?
  22. Samuel_Brown's avatar
Barista touch va Oracle touch ??

One is obviously dual boiler so it heats up faster - any other noticeable differences for the £300 difference? Thoughts?

Just bought this, will be my first coffee machine. Can anyone recommend any good coffee grinders to go with this? I’m new to all this also what beans do you recommend?

    thank you! (edited)

Hi, just make sure you get a burr grinder. The Wilfa Svart is a good electric one if you drink a lot or I can recommend the azontion manual burr grinder £19.99 on Amazon if you only want 1 or 2 cups a day. The manual grinder is harder work obviously but you can hide it in a draw

Love the bambino plus, but careful as they don't last very long. I've had 4 machines in 4 years (2 purchases).

Bambinos are out of stock. Not surprised considering the cost, but deal should probably be updated to reflect this.
