Ok for those on the fence about this device here are a few things we have discovered compared to a Samsung Fold:

    Pros:
    - Very thin for a folding device
    - nice wide front display, great for typing and you almost forget it has a big folding screen available
    - Great, non slip leather back
    - Has a fully functional USBC port for video out and screen mirroring works great.
    - Has a desktop mode when connected to external monitor and the phone can act as trackpad (and keyboard if no physical keyboard is connected)
    - Great speakers

    Cons (compared to Samsung fold):

    - can't choose the audio out source when connected to external monitor (sound always comes from connected device)

    - the over display selfie camera spoils the inner screen experience as there's permanently a black dot on screen (should have been an under display camera)

    - Desktop experience can't compare to Samsung DEX

    - Apparently the only pen that works (if the Euro version has pen support) is the Honor Magic Pen that costs £100 and we don't have one to test.
    Samsung pen doesn't work
Microsoft slim pen 2 doesn't work
Lenovo active pen 2 doesn't work
    Lenovo mod pen doesn't work

    - Doesn't have double tap to screen off option (need to physically press the power button)

Is it worth £900 ...if you don't already have a folding device then yes.

If you have a Samsung Fold.. It's not worth the "upgrade" unless you want a different shape. (edited)

I'm going to stick with my fold 3

I've just been on chat with the sales team in Three.. Key info as follows:

    - The promotion applies to contract only not PAYG. Contract with options of 1, 2, or 3 (12,24 or 36 months). Which ever you decide to go for.
    - You can not pay for the device in full today, however, you can make an upfront payment and the rest will be spread over the remaining months along with your sim contract
    - Trade in bonus is confirmed.
    - Your current device will be scanned to give you the value on a trade in, and then, you get an extra 500 for it.

Hope this helps. Strange they don't allow us to pay for the device in full today.
    Potterified's avatar
Okay, confirmed that you will only get £500 extra trade-in and the £120 is savings already built in to the 300GB plan.

Just checked with them it is not extra 500 trade in. It is whatever value is shown on their website for your phone.

Well that's ridiculous because the s24 ultra gets over £900 yet the info on the page says £500 and not "upto £500"

When I try trade in my pixel 4a 5g and enter my IMEI number it says not in portfolio
    vassy4u's avatar
I had this issue when trading my device. So i did contact the recycle team and their response is as follows:

We can confirm that this device is in our online portfolio. There has been an intermittent issue where devices are showing as not accepted, to resolve this please refresh the page and try again ensuring no spaces are entered.

It will be accepted but can take a number of attempts of using the IMEI number, reportedly Microsoft Edge internet browser is the most secure and works.

If this continues to not work, then we would advise going into store and recycle your device in store.

The deal is legit, found the terms and conditions.
    three.co.uk/terms-conditions/special-offers-and-promotions/honor-magic-v2-500-trade-in-offer-2024

    1. These terms and conditions (“Terms”) govern the terms on which customers who purchase a Honor Magic V2 on any service plan directly from Three (“New Device”) are eligible to receive an additional £500 (“Reward”) on top of the standard trade-in value of their old device (“Promotion”).

You need to wait for the new phone to arrive and use the IMEI as the promotion code when doing your trade in online, or just do it in-store.

Decent deal with the headphones as well but the crappy expensive contracts kind of ruin it, which are two years and not one. Good for the s24 people being quoted £940 for their phone as they will get £1440 trade in! (edited)
    Deaa's avatar
Thats interseting, weird that they didn't know that on the phone!

I've ordered today, trading in my S24 ultra which gives me £944 + £500. I'm up about £300 for swapping assuming all goes well, can't see why not, terms are very clear.
    yeababyyea's avatar
So I went to store and ordered they said I could only order it for delivery but once it comes bring it to store and they will check my trade in and I will get trade in value plus £500 on top of device value and the lady said will take 3-5 days for both monies to reach my bank £944 + £500. Happy days

She told me it for contract only trade in with bonus so I got the phone on monthly .... (edited)

If I trade in a s21 ultra that has the black screen of death fault, which makes the trade in value £0 would I at least get the £500

I ordered online last night and opted for in-store collection. I collected from the store this morning, no issues.
Bought a cheap Nokia 105 from Argos and also traded that in at the store. It showed a phone value of £0 and a trade-in bonus of £500. Received a trade-in confirmation email now. It says your device has been accepted but there's no mention of £500 bonus. It says, "You’ll receive £0.00 in your Bank account within the next 5 days."
Any of you trading in-store, does your email state the bonus amount as well?
    cricket123's avatar
Don't worry. I had a similar email but got paid £500. If in doubt you can call three recycle, they will confirm the £500 bonus.
  11. lloyd.thompson's avatar
52137843-WHPCC.jpgApparently you can also get it on pre pay and still claim the £500 trade in value so would take it down to £700ish

    Can this be done online?

As per the terms, do not trade in until you get the new device.

Can anyone please advise. I have tried everything but can't get any of my trade-ins recognized. Can I just buy the phone and contact three customer services and sort it out tomorrow? The deal closes today/tonight right? I only want the phone if I can get a trade-in but its a pain. I have tried Edge, Chrome and Firefox with no joy.. Thanks to whoever can help.
    vassy4u's avatar
Just buy for now and sort out the trade in by visiting your local store to be safe.
  20. BenzBoy's avatar
It may be an unpopular opinion here but I sold the phone after playing with it for a couple of days.
I tried hard but couldn't get around the unpolished OS experience. Even with only a handful of apps and hardly any data, it was laggy and unrefined. I have been on Pixel the last couple of years and it has been a nightmare with the number of bugs but the swipes and clicks have otherwise been flawless. Something wasn't quite right with the MagicOS. Aside from the lack of an IPX rating, the hardware was stunning, but the OS requires significant improvement.
The fact that I went through so much trouble to get one (+ credit checks, etc.) only to sell it later is somewhat embarrassing. But I got £900 for it, and hopefully, the B&O headphones will bring me another £150. So I made a £300 profit and spent it on a Galaxy S23 Ultra from Giffgaff for £549. It's funny because after all these years with Sammy, I wanted a pure Android experience and bought a Pixel, but I'm now returning to Sammy since it's arguably the best combination of hardware and Android OS experience available right now - at least for me.
    End of rant. (edited)

I’m hearing on the other thread, Three could be delaying trade in payments. Any advice here either? Would it be silly to try and cancel the contract before getting the £500? Is that even possible? Thanks
    Stephen_Barraclough's avatar
Spoke to my brother in law who works there, says no delay, says sometimes people get the payments within 3 working days, some are 5, if they have loads of devices come in at once it can be a few days later, but no internal coms about that currently
  22. YourSongIsEnding's avatar
Anyone who’s using their Magic V2, are you being nagged by “this app is using too much battery” alerts daily? Just seen that is a issue on Honor phones, and remarked on in Mr Mobile’s review

Current Z Fold 4 user and wanting to switch to the V2.

I ordered directly from Honor UK on Friday just in time for the free headphones, at 1199.99 with 105 tracked TCB (though not expecting it what with the voucher) but I'm wondering if the Three deal is better for me.

A useful contract would be the £14 30gb my daughter could use, am I right in thinking this is the worst month to buy as the inflation increase will kick in for bill 2 (next month) and month 13?

Trade-in is only showing a £277 value for the Fold, would I be better buying something like a cheap smart watch to trade? As lots of devices show £0 value.
    cloud1's avatar
I have the Z Fold 4 and the Honor Magic V2.

The three deal is obviously better if you can find an eligible £0 value trade in phone, I believe some bought a £15 nokia from Argos which qualified. A £0 qualifying device still allows you to add the Honor Magic V2 imei(1) code in the promo code section for a £500 trade in boost.

My intention is to sell my Z Fold 4 seperately on ebay for about £500. Would recommend you sell on ebay or gumtree/facebook seperately.

Just a late reaction to the headphone offer ending on 1st march I think.

Anyone who’s done the online trade in with your own packaging, where did you write your three recycle customer number? On the outside or inside?
    ohsomeonenew's avatar
I just put a paper inside with all the details.
  27. YourSongIsEnding's avatar
Okay so this is a little strange, it would help if anyone knows how quick it gets sorted. I got the payment in my PayPal. £10 less than expected, and then on top of that, it’s taken off a £15 fee so it’s £500, and it says by 1 April.
    vickstar79's avatar
I'm sure there's something you can click on in paypal and select 'this is not a sale'

    £944 + £500.

    Thanks OP

Are you going to cancel SIM under 14 days cooling off period?
  32. vassy4u's avatar
    Update

Contacted three via live chat - cancelled my airtime / sim plan. Then paid the balance device plan / finance. You have the option to pay it monthly for 12 months or just pay it at one go now.

Receive message of sim contract cancellation.

Trade in money = £944+ £500 received today

    Thanks OP
    sach1636's avatar
Now that is an amazing outcome.
I will give a try. Acceptable reason for cancelling airtime is bad network (which is case for me). (edited)
  33. UnicornHunter's avatar
I've just looked into the terms and conditions of the headphones on the Honor website. Simply buying the phone from a qualifying retailer is enough to trigger the free headphones. No need to purchase a sim only contract.
    So here's some man maths,
    Phone = -£1238
    Trade in = +£187 Pixel 7 Pro
    Bonus = +£500
Headphones= Say you sell them for +£200

That could be a new phone for £351... very tempting.
    94Paul's avatar
Would you mind explaining how to purchase through a qualifying retailer?

Via the three website the only option seems to be adding a sim contract to qualify for this offer

I do agree it's very tempted if your maths is anywhere near close, I love how thin this phone is, having owed the Samsung Folds for a few years now, I'll never go back to a regular phone (edited)

I wonder if the trade-in site would be able to differentiate between PAYG and service plan IMEI no's when put in the promo code button?!
