Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay A9 - now £1,399 from Peter Tyson Online
Found 13th DecFound 13th Dec
Had to post this up as I bought one of these on release at £1,999. The nearest thing to a Hi-Fi, without having a ‘proper’ hi-fi. Cannot stress how good these are

This is a deal for a select group of HUKDers. Heat added massive saving on a interesting speaker.

They sound amazing but unfortunately people sometimes vote on opinion, not the deal!

I’ve posted a deal(my first) for an A9 a couple of weeks ago for 1124£ and it got really cold. I have no regrets buying after doing a fair amount of research but have no clue why my deal got voted down.

Cool looking item, big fan of B&O products though typically out of my price range! My mates dad one the football pools in the early 90's and bought a load of their gear and how amazing it was feature wise & looks stuck with me for life.

When I was 17 my dream speakers were Quad Electrostatics. Now 40 odd years later I've just checked the current price, about £8,000!! Still a dream :( These seem almost a bargain in comparison.

Amazing deal. Would have bought one but they’re sold out now

Generally Bose in Audi’s which I’m my eyes is more than better!! No distortion even at full whack!!!

Right angled adaptor time? Surely there is someone who has sorted this problem. Same concern with my new USB c phone. Stress on the port that also charges the phone bad. Big phones in jean pockets, sitting in the car, or in work, there are always gonna be some risks. Edit, some options exist: Another cable might be an option too, depending in the phones you are feeding

Hmm, fair question. I find headphones to pinpoint as to what sounds good. My Samsung S7 had this acoustics tuning mode. Was really good, I guess they probably have something similar. As for the headphones, I'm not sure of sound quality, but noise cancellation has made the world of difference to me.

Its not something i would pay for but wasn’t added to the resale price when i bought the car, my question was hitting on the point that its quite premium upgrade in cars but does it reflect in the headphone quality, but as always it draws out all the salty cry babies in these threads

Oh the vagaries of HUKD! If people are voting cold on price because they can’t afford one, or because it is expensive, that is ridiculous! I thought the definition of a deal is whether you are saving on the normal price? If you are in the market for this it is a good saving. If not, why vote at all?:/

Surprised this is voted cold - I guess it’s still too expensive for most people. I have 2 of these - absolutely brilliant sounds produced - and in my opinion this is a good price. Have some heat.

I have one of these and the sound quality is fabulous. This is a good deal <3

Looks very expensive for a dressing table mirror.

thanks for taking the time to share your first deal with us today.have some heat :)

I know what you mean, but I find that phone apps like YouTube or Mx player are lacking EQ options which forces me to seek a more brute force method. If I had more EQ control on my phone, then buying earphones would be easier, and also easier to control errant characteristics of earphones. Maybe they could work on that. Maybe the phone could identify which headphones and earphones were plugged in by sampling a few impedances at a few frequencies and then applying that EQ profile per device!. That could include Bluetooth earphones as well. Any Devs out there?. (y)

Entirely personal preference then. I prefer to hear music as its intended not over equalised by default, I'd like the option to do that myself.

Exactly my point, these are suitable for production work. However for us the end user, on the bus /train listening to pop music/dance/metal/country , it's not enjoyable. Probably really good for classical and audiobooks. Horses for courses.

Very true, the monitor (flat) style is what I like - I have mostly PreSonus Speakers and Headphones for when I'm producing, and find these very good platform with crisp treble and pretty accurate mids and bass. Compared to the market standard of Sony etc which I find quite muddy.

It's true that it's good "value" however the sound signiture is pretty poor for most people , very monitor like , most people don't use earphones as monitors. I also got a free pair however I used mi e a few times , thoroughly impressed, I never used them again.

Agreed ... Naughty cex! It's silly as you cannot do anything else with the top bit anyway, it's useless for everyone else. So keeping it, or withholding makes no sense.

Gave that a try anyway, didn’t work. I read around on XDA, you supposedly need to connect to the port on the cap for it to work. Either way, it’s the principle that CEX has sent out half the item!

Bottom bit should work as well, If you have a regular usb c cable then connect it to your pc, it will pick it up as a sound card.

It's useless for me, it came with the top half missing the same as @hennersl in this thread, it's weird that they've sent out both the same way, hopefully CS get back to me tomorrow.

Given up! Can't update the damn thing as I can't switch it off (which seems to be a problem with a lot of people!). Going back. Boom 2 or the Bose which is in Costco.

More late night digging has revealed that display units are put into "point of sale" mode rather than "retail" which blocks a lot of functionality (which may explain how I am able to update the firmware via the app and see the controls but can't do anything). It's possible that this was display and never taken back to retail mode. I will download the software tonight and check if that is the problem!

Sadly its now out of stock. Hopefully it comes back in stock before Christmas :)

Gutted for you. what about registering it first then contacting B&O for repair/replacement, given their eBay store has no stock left? You may get a brand new one!

Managed to get the app to connect and update the firmware. Still no blue light for the connection. It can be found but wont connect. Cant switch off either. It will have to be returned, sadly.

I've checked SN of my H8 and it's 24xxx. BT issues were fixed from SN 2524849. "Bluetooth reception improvements have been implemented in production from serial number: Gray Hazel: serial number 2524849 (w1542), and Argilla Bright: serial number 25120775 (w1543). BeoPlay H8 Black and Natural are per definition OK from start with improved Bluetooth reception." Sending them to B&O for repair.

I have bose qc 35 II and when I first got them they dropped out all the time. Like even when turning my head when crossing the street. Now I have no such issues and there hasn't even been a firmware update! Dunno why it fixed itself but must have been some sort of bluetooth bedding in period 8)

Yours is definitely faulty buddy

Mostly I've got issues while walking with mobile in my pocket but also if I cover right side of H8 with my hand then I can quickly reproduce the problem. It might be that someone dropped them and something got faulty so maybe I could get this sorted under the warranty. Also there are some issue with an app (which offten shows "can't connect to device") and changing "equalizer" pre-settings. When you do this without playing music H8 will freeze and only solution to this is to pull out battery. All works fine while playing audio tracks.

mine are fine just updated it and that was it interference

Cheaper on Amazon -

Q = Quality V = Value C= Convience I think that is what the acronym stood for. But have to agree can be quite expensive but you do get option of really trying something out in the comfort of your own home to see if it meets your expectations. Currently returns, which are normally 30 days, can be done until 24th January 2019 for Xmas gifts.

Still a little cheaper on Amazon but qvc has it with 3 easy payments of £46.66. Op should add only Black available in title.

The Sony's easily. They're probably the best noise cancelling headphones available right now. Fantastic fast charging battery, and surround the ear giving the best ANC. These sit on the ear and I found if I tilted my head down to look at my phone, they'd start slipping down my head.

Aha yeah, I ordered some for my dad as a birthday present! They're really overpriced at their normal price though. Wasn't even aware of the £99 deal. Gutted about that too in retrospect lol. If you can get they sony headphones around this price I'd go for those. According to the reviews, they offer better sound quality but these are more comfortable and have better battery life. I think these are good value for money at this price. What put me off the Sony headphones is that the mark1 had a cracking defect in the band but guessing that's well resolved now. All the best!

I really need help to decide which headphones to give my granddaughter between these B&O and the Sony WH-1000XM3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones Please advise as I have no techi' knowledge

Interesting list of comments. I'm using a 1366 x 768 HP 14" Chromebook now, I don't feel bothered at all by it. Here's a HUKD screenshot to give you an impression of the screen real estate :)

Get this directly from the HP website. Nice 1080p touchscreen. For some reason all of the retailers here in the UK decided to stock a 720p screen version that the US don't even acknowledge. Goes to show just how far we are behind in educating the mainstream about modern technology. Then again, the amount of people who own iPads but use their tiny phones to browse the web instead kind of says it all.

I have tried . Most apps install but very difficult to navigate. Even shopping apps like Amazon and Hot deals UK are very difficult to navigate without touchscreen .

The American version is cheaper if you buy directly from Amazon or eBay USA.

So I've got three points: - "going for around £40 used on eBay" Eww. - "optimized for Apple devices" 3.5mm jack doesn't seem very optimized - That box looks a little shabby for B&O. Are these pack-in earphones from something that didn't sell and are now going cheap?

Thanks. Unfortunately i only use Android. Decided to keep the b&o speakers. I can always sell it for a profit or breakeven down the line. So might as well enjoy it

The Sonos ones do have Airplay 2 now if you have an iPhone. Essentially any sounds can be sent to your speaker that way...but is sent from your phone or tablet rather than the speaker connecting itself and streaming the content. Audible works off the shelf I'm pretty sure.

Guys, which ones should I go for, H4 or H8? X

Received mine today. It's pretty much new with the box vacuum plastic wrapped. Not sure whether i should keep it or sell for profit. I wanted the sonos one but from what i hear it doesnt play youtube, podcast, or audible audiobooks. I'm going to go to a b&o store to test the sound quality first and decides then whether i should unwrap it and keep it

Anyone else received theirs today? I'm in two minds whether to keep the a1 or not... it was a bargain at 60 quid, but not sure I actually would use it much having sonos

I've had one of these for a while. Excellent sound and nice build quality, but battery is a major let down... Expected 24hrs, more like 6 at low - mid volume (not much warning, it just dies) but kept it because of the sound quality. USB C charging.

It was from B&O ebay using the voucher code. The quality is good for £64 but it's not worth £134.99 imo. The claim of 24 hours of battery is a joke

From Amazon ?

This was £64 the other day. Got one and its brilliant.

It obviously lasts longer on lower volume but I was playing music at maybe 75% loudness from my phone and the battery was tragic. I have the Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus - sound is great and zero battery issues, lasts around 13 hours! But it’s a lot more expensive than this. The non-plus version is a similar price to this and is probably better tbh.

No that would be OGDonNinja. I promise I didn't steal his name and move it around a bit and use it forever on every website and hope that nobody catches me..... Damn, i guess I've finally been caught (:I

Oh my god, are you _the_ OGNinjaDon from YouTube? If so, your channel is the dog’s dangles and I thank you sincerely for all the amazing uploads. This track in particular I think is savage and can’t believe it was unreleased: Relatedly to the post at hand and your comments, I personally rate B&O very highly for bigger headphones (cans). I have the over ears which I picked up in a lightning sale on Amazon for about £120 and they are fantastic for the money, though original RRP was circa £300. To be fair the other recommendations you have brand wise are great, but you can get very good value for money with B&O in terms of sound quality with the aesthetic to boot (under the right circumstances). I would definitely say Bose is more marketing than substance compared with B&O, but again I haven’t any experience with their in ear stuff

RHA are killer!

I'll co-sign on Xiaomi Hybrids (Mi IV in my case), quite amazing of for the price of around £20. Quite well built too and sound great off the bat, even without the supposed burn in needed. I've settled on them after trying out loads of more expensive ones, may of which sound worse.
