Link doesnt work work for me but the offer is advertised on their main website. Just google Virgin M500.

Is this new customers only? Doesnt state it anywhere. I just renewed my contract to Gig1 for £61 (still within cooling off period) so wondering whether I can renegotiate. Hmmm. (edited)

If you ever see deals with the words 'quidco' or 'topcashback' you really don't want to hit the get deal link or just Google it.

You want to open up your Quidco app, and search for virgin media on there. You're missing out on £60 if you do it any other way.

I just signed up to Virgin Media two days ago for the M250 package 264mps at £33, through Money Supermarkets website and they gave me £130 bill credit. But now this offer comes up as I am an O2 customer, this offer is £33 pm for 1Gig Fibre which is much better in terms of speed. Now how do I get this offer and not the one I signed up for. They are sending me there Hub on Sat 2nd March.

I believe you have a 14 Day Cooling off period where you can cancel without reason.

Pure commercial greed, this mid-contract price rises, do not be fooled by the fake explanations with record profits.

I've just started my cancellation period for my 1gig broadband only @£31.

Il be aiming to renew at that again

    Mine expires next month also… £29 for a 512 volted to 1gb.

you dont even need to keep the O2 sim - i cancelled mine within 14 days over 2 years ago and i’ve been on “volt” since!!

Does anyone have contact number for Virgin retention team?
    Thanks
    psel13's avatar
0800 952 2277, 020 3743 6951, I have successfully got through to retentions on these numbers in the past, worth a try

Have been with Virgin for a number of years now and it's time to renew my contract as it is about to shoot up to a silly price. A quick chat with retentions did not get me a good new deal like usual. They are definitely pushing for higher prices this year. So I told them I want to leave and started the 30 day process.

Does anyone know how long it takes for someone to give you a call to try and get you to stay?
    happi's avatar
They will call if they have your contact number, don't bottle it, I've been doing this since they were comcast and never not had the call, and this is with them having no competition in my area.

I started mine 2 months ago, and mine is going from £45 to £49 a month as of April if anybody is wondering how their price could change. This is on a fixed contract also btw (edited)

For M500 Ultrafast fibre broadband only! £31 (18 months contract) via Reward Gateway/Perks at Work, I think this is reasonable. Reward Gateway offers £25 cashback, making this deal for £29.61 / month

Blue light card holders get the same deal less reward points or cashback (edited)

Left Virgin Media from the Gig1 package £40 (with dicsount) to the You1000 with You(YouFibre) for £28

With You1000 I get 950up 950down with no price increase for 24 months

With terrible call centers based in india who constantly lie, I will pass. Had very poor experience thankfully Communications ombudsman put them in their place. Sad because virgin is the only one that can deliver highest speed in my area.

Just to share my recent experience with Virgin, I've been with them for 6 years, my contract is up this month so called for a new deal as I've done every time. Was paying £32 a month, they told me I can renew for £33 a month.
Told them I'd cancel as I could get it cheaper elsewhere and they just said ok, none of the usual attempts to haggle and keep me as a customer which was very surprising.
A couple of colleagues had the same, so it seems they may have changed their scripts/policies this year.
So I've now signed up to City Fibre after waiting a week to see if they'd offer anything better, and 4 days later Virgin call to offer a better deal 🤦
So if anyone is looking to haggle soon, just be aware that they will still offer you a better deal but it takes longer now
    Nib1337's avatar
Yes, agreed. They offer no consolation when you cancel and you have to wait for retentions to call you. Keep an eye out for a 020 number as sometimes your phone will redirect it to spam. I had the same experience and just renewed M250 at £19 per month for 18 months.
  13. sreenireddy's avatar
they called me today to give an new package for being a loyal customer for 5 years, they offered to move me from a M250+phone for £23/m to a new package of m350 +phone, with TV mixit, Asian Mela, for £32,

which i wasnt really interested in however i managed to get them to give me M500+phone, with TV mixit, and o2 6GB 5g sim for £32,I will also get 3 free Boosters and a new Hub. they did it as 2 contracts and i will get 2 bills now, they also said i can cancel the sim only which will reduce overall package by another £6 and bring it to £26
    Jonwillis's avatar
The question is, are you getting m250 boosted to m500 with volt, or is it m500 boosted to 1gig.
  14. redarrowrules's avatar
Thinking of going to Virgin as we can't get FTTP in our property.

With Sky right now and getting about 50-55Mbps which is at times just to slow for us, both working from home, video calls, streaming Netflix etc.

But I'm worried about the comments on poor customer service if you have an issue. Is this really a major problem or just a case of the minority who have issues shouting louder than the majority that don't? (edited)
    Jonwillis's avatar
When I left virgin media I was passed between multiple Indian call center agents, who I can only guess refused to let me cancel because it's bad on their stats. Threatened to sue and was referred to manager to cancel - fyi in future, just cancel via WhatsApp for less stress.

O2, in total 16 phonecalls and the osbudman to cancel, after they took £120 by accident which had to be refunded because they first failed to cancel then cancelled it incorrectly and blasted me with early repayment charges but didn't refund me because the account was closed.

VM and O2 are the same company now

Other than good internet speed and O2 priority, it's crap. (edited)

Can i use this if I’m currently a Virgin customer but not on contract any more, just monthly?
    manicmidlander's avatar
You could use it as a bargaining tool and threaten to leave if they will not match it. You wouldn't get any cashback as you are an existing customer though.
  17. Tannybash's avatar
There fibre broadband is very fast and reliable, but there customer service are the worst , they will , if at the end of the contract you want to leave good luck ,
  18. fast_and_curious's avatar
Just had a call from VM after I put in my cancellation yesterday, offered M350 @£31/month, said I don't agree. VM said they cannot do any more on this, end of conversation

Not having high hopes if VM will call again but looking myself on getting M500 @£28 I mentioned earlier. Any one else had any luck finding cheaper broadband with VM?
    Jonwillis's avatar
Do you live with a partner?

The route I've taken is cancel on my name and sign up as new customer in wife's name . Been doing it for years.

Sometimes you get better offers via perks at work or perkbox

I have a perks at work link - virginmediapartners.com/vmr…ode (edited)

Anyone know the best way to get a much better deal for existing customers? My contract ended last month.. was paying £38 for M250 broadband, mix TV and weekend calls. My discounts have ended and price shot upto £58.
Called a few times and surprisingly can't get a better deal (last few years I've gone thru to retentions and been offered a great deal to stay) but not this time. Even gave 30 days cancellation notice and still nothing better than £60. I queried this deal and they said its for new customers only. I asked is there anything for customers that have been with you 15 years.. got put on hold while they "spoke to a supervisor" and still couldn't get anything.. any ideas on who best to speak to? Thanks
    Jonwillis's avatar
If you have a partner, get them to sign up as the new customer. It's the common way to get the new customer deal.

VM really playing hardball this time. Offering m350 for £31 which is poor to what I had before..

Reckon I will just sign up to this under new contract with the wife.

The agent was pushing for the m350 claiming I could volt to m500 and then just cancel the SIM if I wanted to move to another provider but would still retain the volt upgrade....is that true ? (edited)
    Jonwillis's avatar
Yes, the volt will apply and you can cancel the SIM for free within the first 14 days. The volt stays until the broadband contract is renewed
  21. thedealsman's avatar
Signed up a year ago for 1gb with 500mb sim for £37, then cancelled the sim within 30 days for £15 off and been paying £22 per month for 1gb internet. Only have 6 months left, not looking forward to the price increase if this is the best atm.
  22. Antec's avatar
I cancelled virgin media as they put monthly price to £90 500mb tv and phone. Now they have been upgraded to 1gb broadband, mega TV with sky sports cinema & netflix standard for £51/month.
    Hope this helps.

I left virgin because of the high latency and unreliability as they still use old coax networks and are very late to the fibre rollout in my area
    redarrowrules's avatar
If I don't play online games, will the latency affect me in any other way? I work from home so video call a lot, as well as stream from youtube, netflix etc.
  24. mr_hercules's avatar
Good luck with these numpties when it comes to leaving them.

Still have an open complaint with them that they make no attempts firstly to make any sense, and secondly to actually address.

The latest response I got was "you're no longer a customer so we should really close your complaint. Resolution: Further information regarding billing". 3 page responses. Joke
    Bippity's avatar
Never really had an issue with them tbf mate apart from one when they proper messed my bill up when I renewed last year and I did everything via WhatsApp and took screenshots. They were trying to say I couldn't get my 1gig for £23 and were trying to force it to £50 which I made no attempt at paying. Soon as I showed proof they shut up and gave me three months Internet free on top of putting it back down to £23. It's a roller coaster with these companies though I just stay until I've had enough and I'll always say TalkTalk are the worst and they're the legal thieves I'm tellin ya
  25. fryster's avatar
Currently paying £7 a month for 1gig, line rental and a stream box thingy thanks to a mates rates deal posted on here a while back! Was because it originally came with a sim card that you could cancel straight away and it took £25 off the monthly bill. Never gonna get close to that again, but will have some competition when contract is up for renewal as Toob and Hey broadband offering 900mb up and down in my area now.
    l.eo.ba.r.amm.e.da's avatar
    Ridiculous!
I'm getting 1Gbps (plus TV, telephone and WiFi booster) for £11.99 and thought that was amazing!
  26. robbiet's avatar
Anybody looking at this deal have a look at YouFibre. I pay £19.99 a month for 1Gig. It has the same up and down which Virgin doesn’t and imo much better customer service.
    Slapdabass's avatar
These niche companies barely cover any areas. I put 10 different postcodes all over London and none of them available.
  27. cycleman's avatar
Been paying £47 for basic tv, all freeview available anyway, landline that I never use + 500bb. Tried putting it up to £88 was offered various packages of tv and sports which I didn’t want so cancellation notice given.
Will wait and see if they call, it would have to be a great deal or I’m out🍻

If you have sky broadband you should also be able to cancel mid contract due to their price increase notification.

Doesn't apply if you have sky TV and broadband packaged together though.

Quidco offering £65 cashback on Gif1 and £60 on M500 package

What proof will be needed for above? I have a work mobile that has an o2 sim in it, could I just use that number whilst signing up or would I need to prove I took out the contract?

    Cheers

VOLT normally needs to match the billing address - won't a work mobile be billed to a work location?

I waited and waited ended up getting mine down to £39 for 1gig, phone and tv, so if you can hold off they will call you and give you a better deal than the minions who deal with you if you call them.
    BrianButterfield's avatar
The best they offered me was £41 for 125mb or whatever the slowest one is lol. They know they can do that because there is no other option here but 5G and that is really unreliable and with high latency.
  36. Palm_Tree's avatar
I have got good deals from their whatsapp messaging teams before, it’s worth a try. Then screenshot everything that is agreed

Virgin will increase price every April regardless of contract. It actually says this on the website. A bad time to be signing up with VM as they will try it on. A waste of time renegotiating. Switched to BRSK fibre 500MB @ £23 a month, 2 year contract, price fixed.
