Pro 2 comes with a slightly less crap router and a free WiFi range extender device. The router also comes with a 4G Backup modem so if your internet goes down for whatever reason you'll be able to use mobile broadband for free to keep you online until it's fixed.

Very easy. Just ask Vodafone on live chat or call up and ask them for your PPPoE Username and password. This is basically all you need for your own router.

If you're not too technically minded and want something that will be easy to set up, give good performance and not cost too much, look at TP-Link's products. Get something with WiFi 6 or 6e support built in.

They use both Openreach and CityFibre infrastructure and will always offer the fastest they can at your address. If that's all they are able to offer you, it sounds like there's no FTTP from either of the two companies I mentioned above. You'll be served by Openreach's FTTC instead (Fibre to the cabinet, then through the copper phoneline into your home)

When I got mine installed last year. They measured where i wanted it to be and were going to provide the exact 10m cable. I didn't want them to clip it on the skirting board, just leave it unclipped as I asked for a longer cable so I could route it myself. They gave me 15m optical cable as well and left 10m installed. I had to sign that I didn't want them to clip the cable and are happy with the installation. They took photos of how it is installed and the job done. When they left, I used 15m cable and routed it through the walls.

I've had Vodafone 900 (CF) for a year now, using my own router mind you, but its been rock solid.

That's over £300 extra over the 2 year contract.

The only difference with pro is that they give you a slightly better router, and 4G Backup built in if your internet goes down.

You don't need anywhere near £300 to get a good VDSL Router, and even if you don't get Pro, if your internet goes down and you push customer service for it they'll post you a dongle or put extra data on your phone if you're with Vodafone to keep you going anyways. So very little to gain from the extras.

You were on City Fibre right? Were you getting the minimum 455 Mbps at all times as I've read some say they'd drop to 20 Mbps during peak hours.

I'd be dubious if they'd upgrade you for free but that's just my experience. Regards the Pro 2 service - I have removed their router as it's rubbiish and in my house - one level with four rooms and brick walls I had to use three additional boosters to get a mediocre wifi connection at teh back of the house - The back of my house by the way is around 7 meters away!!! I use my Asus router and require nothing more. The Pro2 set up gives you their "better" router, The 4G back up (disconnected as it only works off their router) and limited access to their so called wifi experts - Of course if you have an issue with anything else that isn't wifi forget it... I would suggest get what you NEED regards speed - Avoid them if you do competitive gaming and don't fall for the bells and whistles..Oh and consider if you actually need wifi 6e in the first place

Yes. Just need to ask Vodafone for the PPPoE authentication details for your account once your line is up and running. You can then plug the Eero router direct into your ONT, login with this username and password, and you should be up and running straight away.

Openreach (or one of their contractors) will come out to run the final length of cable into your home on your go-live date.

The only exception would be if CityFibre are also available in your street. In which case your Openreach cable will be ignored and they'll get CityFibre and their contractors, Kelly Communications to run their fibre to your home instead.

CityFibre gives faster upload speeds than Openreach, and with Vodafone the monthly prices are lower for Vodafone via CityFibre compared to Vodafone via Openreach.

You can use the Deco system just fine. You don't even need to go via the Vodafone router. The Mesh will be your router so plug that directly into your ONT.

Just ask for your authentication username and password from Vodafone, and set your mesh to use PPPoE Authentication with the above user and pass from VF Customer service. Then set VLAN 101 for Openreach or VLAN 911 for CityFibre depending upon what area you live in. You'll be online straight away after these settings are saved.

Agreed. The one that Vodafone supplies is absolute trash imo. Even those on much slower speed packages will likely find that it's range and wireless performance is rather poor and would still benefit from using a different router.

Vodafone make it quite easy to get your PPPoE Authentication details, so it's not very difficult to use your own router or mesh system with their broadband.

They are really bad. I had big problems with them, the customer service is the worst I have ever experienced.

In the past couple of weeks my brother has just had 500Mbps installed for £33 per month via openreach. Also need to chase for the giftcard and will get him to log on and check for this as well.

You can't get this deal if you're in an Openreach area anyways. It's CityFibre only.

But at the higher Openreach prices, the cost of installing the line is generally included in the price so they'll send an engineer out to get you up and running again.

I signed up with them and got an email to say they have my direct debit details and then nothing, no install, no contact, nothing. And when I phoned them they denied getting my order...even though they sent me my direct debit details in an email confirmation.

Yes, I'm lucky to get 200mbps down during off peak, peak its well below this, tried technical support etc and the guarantee speed is useless as you can't prove it and even let anyone know as they will say "all fine my end" useless, I'm leaving Vodafone as soon as my contract is up and willing to pay more for actual speeds they say! And I'm connected with Ethernet cat6, not WiFi, which blows the support teams minds (edited)

Tell them you are leaving at the end of the contract and they will come in your way.

No you need a proper monthly phone or SIM contract from Vodafone to get this discount.

Check your postcode on the CityFibre website. If you’re showing as live on there you can get this deal. If you’re only able to get Openreach then you’ll pay a higher price unfortunately.

i only skimmed the post lol and gave Vodafone a call about this. I was with vodafone already on a 500mb fibre contract within an openreach area (which i had upgraded to in december) so the deal above was not available to me, but thankfully they did offer me 900mb fibre and a mobile contract (suitable for me) just as cheap as i was paying for the 500mb contract. so worked out at £32 per month for both. i had an issue with the speed and called them up, got resolved for me super quick, same day no issues. My internet went from 500 average to about 850.. i was also happy that i got a boost on the upload speeds i was getting from 25 up to 110mb. So anyways thanks to the OP for the post, reminded me to check it out. Been with vodafone for i think just over 2 years and ive never had issues with advertised speeds or anything. with talktalk i had more bother and i found them a pain to deal with over the phone. Just my own experience with them.

If you want a static IP you’ll need to look at other providers.
