While it might arrive sharp from the factory, stainless steel will not hold an edge, and can’t be easily resharpened at home. The Amazon reviews praising it all seem very fake.
If you want good knives, buy carbon steel, not stainless.

Nobody "needs" carbon steel, and I wouldn't recommend it to the vast majority of people. Most modern stainless steel is excellent for edge retention (with some being far, far better than any carbon steel) and generally extremely easy to sharpen.

£1.50 also isn't going to buy you a good knife regardless of the material. With that said I ordered one of these out of curiosity and for the price it's at least functional. I have seen much worse knives in regular use in people's kitchens.

The knife doesn’t fit well in your hand. You couldnt work with it all day in a professional kitchen. Ok for the house environment etc (edited)

My fault in this case!! But the knife is crap. I have three in a draw at work.

Got one very similar in my knife drawer. I use it for rough jobs like dividing a raw chicken up which it does perfectly well and saves my best knives from damage.

Bought this last time round lots of negative reviews but bought it anyway
It was ok not the best for tomatoes as a general cutting knife for £1.70 fine

I think HUKD should start blocking these type of deals from being listed or at least give us a review/rating warning.

I mean this deal and that silly 50p spud peeler from amazon keeps getting relisted but we all know they are both useless.

Now you tell us after I invested in the spud peeler yesterday as a little gift for the wife. Fortunately, it was only 42p yesterday! Still you could have commented on the listing:-(

Ordered and after about 6 weeks waiting and various excuses regards logistical delays it never arrived, great way of earning the interest using other ppls cash, you get what you pay for in life.. usually

Whilst I can promise everyone that this knife will not retain a sharp edge for more than 5 minutes and will probably rust snd fall apart very quickly…

For less than 2 quid per knife this is a really handy training tool for learning how to sharpen a blade. I’ve just ordered a couple because I’m forever showing people how to use sharpening stones and I hate having to sort the edge on my own knives out.

Any use for anything else than cutting food?

Don’t bother, I ordered this about six weeks ago and it never arrived. Eventually got refunded off Amazon.

Knife arrived yesterday. Handle is hopelessly small, making it dangerous. It’s going back.

Update: I bought two of these in the end and they arrived a few minutes ago. They’re absolutely crap. They arrived blunt, and the blades are slightly warped. The handles feel cheap and I would be surprised if they lasted more than a handful of times in the dishwasher.

    Don’t waste your money.

Six weeks later and still selling at £1.70p. I bought one to make up the order for "free postage." Like many others here, and to be blunt, I found this item wasn't sharp. It is only worthy of sharpening stone practice, so stay well clear !!
