Be aware, no GPS on these, so no mapping and no speed details.
Other than that, brilliant little, discrete dash cams.
Garmin Drive app can be a bit fiddly, especially if you have Apple Car Play connected to vehicle,

Why would you need speed details

I have the first version of this and went nicely behind my rear view mirror on my old car. Got a new car but now the rain sensor gets in the way and it has to be positioned in the middle of the windscreen, making the size of it pointless and might as well have a normal sized one.

Also if it accidentally moves position you can’t see properly as it doesn’t have a screen. So you need to keep an eye on it. Otherwise you’ll realise it’s been pointing toward the sky for the last week before you realise.

    Apart from that it’s ok.

Same price at Halfords with a 16gb memory card included, only useful as a back-up card though.
I think Amazon have price matched Argos, where it´s also at the same price.

I´m really tempted by this dash cam as have an electric car which has all the gizmo´s like lane departure alerts, etc that the more expensive dash cams have.

I just want something discreet that will pick up an incident when required.
Also i won´t be installing it to a permanent power supply, I´m tapping into the supply from the rear view mirror, so no trailing wires - just means no parking mode. So this cam ticks all the boxes for me. (edited)

This is exactly how I installed this camera, using power from the mirror. I'd not come back to standard cameras. Time to time, I check on mobile if still records and if the view is ok. I've been using it for more than a year or so. I got it for £10 less directly from Garmin. Highly recommended this one.

Had these hardwired into the OBD port and put on left and right side of my car. Along with my front and rear camera.

Next week car to my left full ploughs into the side of my car.

    All on camera.

Insurance said I seem to be ‘well equipped’…. So is a Tesla

Great little cameras, very discreet, easy to control with voice to save a clip. Two combine automatically in the app to give synchronised video. The app is pretty reliable too, easy to download clips.

How do we use voice control to save clip?

It's not very clear, couldn't rely on getting a registration from it

Is that why you need to squint?

Also the same price at Halfords, Argos, Very.

This is one of the ones I'm most interested but it was £99 when it released three years ago. It winds me up a bit when tech gets cheaper and/or moves on but it's neither improved nor lowered in price.

Yeah, I know, inflation, what can I say.

A great camera, it's discreet and works well. Even better if you hard wire it to your car once you pull up at a location where you have wifi access it will upload events to the Garmin Vault
    saintscouple's avatar
Doesn´t the footage in the vault last only 24 hours, unless you pay for a subscription?
If so is it easy to download video from the vault to say google drive?..... if so 24 hours is fine.
Or is it best just to take the micro sd card out and transfer it to a laptop that way?

Thanks for heads up on this! Bit of a sneaky offer as it isn’t advertised anywhere. Seems to be a great deal though. Just ordered two - one for front and rear. Someone pulled out of a side road without looking and drove straight into the side of my car and wrote it off a couple of weeks ago. Was obvious to all who was at fault - but a reminder that in a different situation some footage would have been very helpful..

I’ve paired this with the Garmin USB OBD adapter both front and back. Seems to be doing a good job.

Does this not drain your battery?

Great little camera. The footage has around a second gap between clips. It has failed twice to start over the past 1.5 years since I have had it and simply reboot it and it works again.

Would happily purchase again given its size and performance.

    Plenty of reviews on YouTube.

    Good spot OP

    With speed camera warnings
Are there any out there like those?
