About this deal

PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue titles for May are announced and will be available from Tuesday 21st at 10am.

Red Dead Redemption 2* | PS4

From the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a sprawling tale of life in America at the dawn of the modern age. The end of the Wild West era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed.

After a robbery goes badly wrong in the Western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde Gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal, and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.

Red Dead Redemption 2 also includes Red Dead Online — the multiplayer experience set in the living world of Red Dead Redemption 2 — ride solo or form a posse; run moonshine; battle lawmen, outlaw gangs, ferocious wild animals, and much more as you forge your own path on the American frontier.

Wow the worst month for sure. So many great games in that list.
  2. Bazallworks's avatar
when the only real banger on the list is a six year old game something ain't quite right
    Krammit's avatar
Not only that but it doesn’t even make use of the current gen consoles and still runs at old refresh rates.
  3. Henno's avatar
I'm fairly new to ps+. I've been playing ffvii and about 9 hours in. When it leaves can I not play anymore or because I've already downloaded it does it stay whilst I have a subscription?
    ELNIN09's avatar
It's yours as long as you've got your subscription
  4. quaddamag3's avatar
gamepass got bashed for giving us senua and lords of the fallen.. and ps gives us this lol
    the-running-man's avatar
It literally doesn't matter what games are on either service. People moan.
    Not everyone likes every game.
  5. caligari's avatar
I haven't played any Settlers games since my Amiga days. How does this newer version hold up?
    Tubey's avatar
It's comically bad. Settlers in name only. Grab one of the older ones on GOG instead, they honestly hold up better than this travesty.
  6. jimbobwalton's avatar
What I don't understand is, if you're waiting for a particular game to come to a service, wouldn't it be better to buy the game?
    Chilpstark's avatar
There's a tier of games in your mind that you'd quite like to play but not enough to buy it and will wait and see if it comes on ps plus
  7. Chilpstark's avatar
Thought we were set for big month with the massive list of games leaving next week but obviously not. RDR2 is obviously an all timer but can't be many who haven't played it yet, plus still no ps5 or 60fps update. Rest of the games are very weak. Maybe we get something extra announced at the showcase this month
    PonJaul76's avatar
Hope they've patched all the glitches on PS5. floating chairs around camp, characters legs missing
  8. ChristopherDias's avatar
What a joke, gamepass is so much better than extra or premium.
    andypearce543's avatar
Gamepass have added a load of nonsense for months too. If you compare both for quality, Extra is miles above GP.
  9. Krammit's avatar
These companies are so far removed from the communities they provide for that you get weak offerings like these. Red dead 2 was already on plus before. Considering the fact they removed over 30 games and lots of them were big final fantasy titles it makes you wonder what these big gaming companies even have left in the tank. (edited)
    Bazallworks's avatar
Games are just taking too long to make and smaller, more interesting games don't get much financial backing any more.

The Zero Punctuation guy once said that the best era for gaming was the PS2 era because the consoles were powerful enough to fulfil 90% of developers artistic visons but not so powerful that games needed half a decade of crunch just to get made. You'd get all sorts of weird interesting titles on the shelves right next to the Call of Dutys and now any interesting niche stuff is almost entirely in the Indie scene. We get a throwback to that era with the incredible Hi-Fi Rush and how do the team get rewarded? The shutdown of their entire studio.

The pursuit of increased graphical fidelity has been a disaster for video games and how well Nintendo are doing goes to show that it's not even what most people want. We're on the verge of a big crash, mark my words.

    G-Police..... Let's go
  11. Assured_Brother's avatar
RDR2 - cool, only that the last time rockstar games appeared they disappeared a month or two later. So get your game playing done now!
  12. MrHugo's avatar
Terrible offering. Especially after 35 games are leaving the service... (edited)
  13. mango.carrot's avatar
    I just bought RDR2 so you’re welcome

These posts should be renamed "monthly moaning threads" (edited)
    Jules_HT's avatar
Or deleted for not actually being a hot deal (being a list of what current subscribers get for free, and not anything a non-subscriber can get at all).

Click "get deal" and you can't get anything. Misappropriation of the site that benefits no-one.

Cold. Like my heart when I see these threads.

Used to be on it ages ago, been removed once and readded. Also no PS5 update so still checkerboard 30fps.

Nothing for me here. I remember G Police having good reviews on PS1 but I never got it, can't imagine it's so fun these days. I have a backlog building up of games released in recent months so this gives me a chance to dip into those.
  26. Kristcobain's avatar
Nintendo wins this month, somehow super mario land is the most appealing game to play of the lot
    Jinkz's avatar
Game Pass offerings are decent, some big games in there I think that's the best of the month. (edited)
  27. Tom_BellwGB's avatar
Oooo can't wait to not play any of these. Rdr2 obviously a masterpiece but if ya ain't played that by now.... Lol
  28. Shnoorum's avatar
We should go out on a humanitarian mission to the indigenous Sentinilese tribes people with a copy of RDR2 and a PS4. The last of the human race that haven't played it yet.

Joking aside, I guess I'll try a few of these games to try and get some worth from it. I can't imagine ever playing The Settlers or Stranded on a console, though. I hear Cat Quest is good, even if I doubt I'm the demographic for it. Rockay City is supposedly one of the worst games released in the last few years but I guess I'm now able to play it? I don't know. Can't say I'm happy with the selection but I guess it's a good chance to play some games I'd never even look at otherwise. Thanks Sony?
    robinkurosaki's avatar
Cat Quest is fantastic and oozes charm! The second one you can play in co-op too.

I do agree though, apart from not playing RDR2 yet an actually held off on buying today, this is a great bonus, take that away though or if you have played it. It's very poor, especially when you consider the masses of titles they are taking away.
  29. hoov's avatar
How long is RDR 2 on for, a couple of weeks?

    Couple of hours

  31. seezyf's avatar
Slimy move heavily discounting Rockay City a few days before announcing this. Just got a few of my pals to pick it up and we've been having a blast on there. Early reviews were poor but it's in great shape now
