Does anyone have this particular lite version and can confirm if you put NordVPN or similar on?? I have a first gen stick which is kinda defunct now. Wondering if it's worth getting this if the vpn can be loaded, or just pay the extra and get the full fat version.

Having used both it's worth paying the extra. The Lite is very laggy especially compared to the 4K versions. Especially as it's something you could sometimes be using several times daily

Annoyingly I bought one for full price a few weeks ago. I'm thinking about getting another and returning it as the full priced order. Does anyone know if amazon checks the serial number upon return?

    highly doubt it.
if worried just return the actual one, should still be in the return period. they wont question if used or not

Unfortunately these will be largely redundant soon when amazon change their OS from Android. If the rumours are true that is

Spot on, they will be shooting them self in the foot with this one,

The OS change IS coming, but it's a bit of a red herring. People forget that Android is based on Linux, and actually uses the Linux kernel.
Amazon will more than likely just develop their own fork of Linux, meaning THEY control the direction the OS goes in, and keeps the thousands of existing apps working on the sticks, or working with minimal patching.

And , I think people are very naïve to the numbers of fire sticks used across Europe for IPTV and similar.

Sky Italia gave frightening stats a year or so ago as to their perceived take on the number of Fire sticks used for IPTV, and, counting in my head, I know of 9 people with Fire sticks, with 8 using them for IPTV
