Yeah his comments are bang on. I signed up with them when they came to my area. Initially it was great but the frequent drop outs and terrible support made me write a complaint to their complaints email to which the auto reply said they’ll get back to me in 24hrs. Guess what? It’s been 7 weeks and no reply. Waiting for the 8 week mark to raise to the ombudsman and hopefully be let out of my contract.

It’s funny, you call the new sales number and someone picks up within seconds but their support number? Oh no, I was on hold for 45 minutes everyday for a week in April, absolute cowboys. Please everyone steer clear.

I've been with BeFibre for about a year now (they were the first to offer "full fibre" in my town - Openreach were disappointingly slow to come to where I am, despite being quite quick to bring "half-full fibre" years ago). Not had to deal with their customer service at all, which is fortunate because they hardly cover outside working hours when you look at their support hours (this is poor/unusual for a domestic ISP).

It's also extremely strange that you don't have a login for an account - they e-mail the monthly invoice as a PDF and if you lose that, there's no way to download it again! Having said all that, it's been pretty reliable and fast - only had to restart my router a few times in the year I've had it. They charge £4 a month for a static IP, which I felt was too high (my previous ISPs gave me one for free or charged one off £5 lifetime fee), so I've stuck with a dynamic IP.

The main problem for most users is that BeFibre are mostly an "infill ISP" - they go to towns where there's no major full fibre presence (I think it was under 1% where I am before they turned up), so their locations are pretty random and not in the major cities.

I'm with them, they were the only outfit to offer full fibre in my area and I lived in a relative black spot for FTTC, best I could get was around 20-25 Mbps download. So in many respects it has been like a breath of fresh air.

But I can't say there haven't been issues. The AdTran router initially supplied was woeful, I since switched to using my own equipment, but I think they supply Linksys routers now. I've also had odd issues with IP addresses assigned which to some websites look like they're in Romania or some such so you get blocked. For a while I just could not get onto the Argos website even though WhatsMyIP was saying I had a UK IP address, in fairness to their customer support I emailed them, had a new IP address assigned and was able to get back on the Argos site. I did also get blocked from streaming Channel 4 for a while but that seems to have resolved itself.

I'm led to believe they've been doing some network upgrades so hopefully things will be even better now.

So despite the glitches I'm happy as I now have blisteringly fast Internet the majority of the time now and much better than anything OpenReach could currently offer.

900mbps for £25 for me, best value by far. How good are they though?
