Might be good as a base to hire a car and adventure the rest of Sicily. But you really wouldn't want more than a couple of days here.

I adore Sicily. But 'Stunning coastline' certainly isn't the case for tripani

visited Italy recently. found it to be quite expensive, rude people and certainly was not 'Stunning coastline"
    some places were really ripoff.

Your Italy experience completely depends where you went.

Italy's a big country with a huge amount of varied coastline, and wide range or varying experiences depending on where you go. A few places might be expensive (e.g. Venice, Rome). Mostly it's pretty reasonable, and most of the people are friendly too.

I could say Cornwall hasn't got stunning coastline after visiting Birmingham. People wouldn't take me seriously. You can see where I'm coming from!

Italy is big country so your statement is broad. Get down to puglia, cheaper there
