Guild version from Argos is £65 and quite often on offer at sub £50.

Guild one I've had for years, was branded as Extreme or something when I bought mine! Used it on absolutely loads of cars and made them stunning again.
Just do your homework on polishing first, as I've seen loads of people mess up

If you're going to do this kind of thing then expect to pay a lot more and that's just for the machine. Pads, polishes, accessories, etc. by the time you're done and getting to a good place your looking at close to £500 all in. This will do a basic and adequate amateur job, but that's about it. Heat anyway.

Thanks for this wealth of misinformation

Polisher for anywhere around the fifty quid mark, cutting compound like meguiars for about £13, some extra pads for about a tenner for a pack of 5 varying grades of softness/cutting ability, and some wax/finishing polish for a tenner with some microfibre cloths.

Damn near everyone that wants their car to look nice and clean in a driveway scenario (ie not commercial detailing business) would benefit from this kind of "basic amateur" kit and get great results for less than £100 for years worth of use.

Stop trying to put people off unnecessarily. (edited)

All car polishing is sacrificial. As in, you remove paint.

Just make sure you know what you are doing before you start.

You remove the clear coat you shouldn't be touching paint layer or you are doing it wrong/far too aggressively. It smooths all the rough bits on the clear coat by removing the higher parts so it's all at one level, this stops light reflecting in different directions and diffracting and gives a deeper colour/shine appearance. You then add a protective layer of wax/sealant/ceramic coating

Preparation is the key, remove all bonded contaminats. For beginner I recommend a clay mitt

If you just want your car to look good for as little effort/money possible (assuming so if you're interested in a £70 polisher) then get this and use super resin polish from autoglym, followed by Turtle wax ceramic spray coating. It will look great without the time and expense of going down the 'paint correction' route

Super resin can be quite easily applied by hand so no real need for a, machine. Autoglym uhd was works, very well over srp. Good durability too. Bit pricey though

I looked at this one but opted for he Ginour one on Amazon.
These are fine for a weekend detailer. If you are doing lots of cars best for go for something more expensive.
I used mine for the first time at the weekend and am pleased with the results. Did a wash, clay bar, compound with Ginour, polish with Ginour and then hand wax. Took a while, glad I had the DA polisher.

Any benefit in the Ginour over this one? Been look at this for a while.
