Peace of mind and Evri and Yodel don't work in the same statement. (edited)

In 2 years and 1 month i have sent just over 2000 parcels with evri/hermes. They have lost 1. Another got lost but then turned up a month later. One got damaged and they paid out a full insurance payout. That's a pretty good strike rate. Are other people really having that much bother with them?

I made the mistake of using Packlink recently, and never will again. Sent an item that weighed 140g and paid for up to 1kg. They sent me an email a week later saying I owed an additional charge as the parcel was 2.2kg!!

Turns out this is quite common so I contacted eBay to advise them that their partner company was being fraudulent. They flat out denied Packlink was anything to do with them (despite it being called “eBay Delivery”).

They sent me back to Packlink and as soon as I mentioned “fraud” and asked them to provide evidence of the additional weight they were claiming, they backed down and cancelled the charge - said it could have been an error by their automated machine.

Edit: And having said all that, I thought I’d check my bank only to see the rats have charged me anyway. Now on the phone to the bank. (edited)

This happened to me too. I sent something that weight 500g and then got charged to say it weight 1.3kg... this was weeks after it was delivered and done with. Then the money came out of my account a week later. They hope their users dont take pictures of the size and weight so they can make it up themselves. Packlink are a bunch of robbers.

I would advise not to use packlink and use the couriers direct, when you get a problem with a parcel you only have 30 days to make a claim, considering problem parcels take longer to reveal themselves and you give extra time to chase up the courier or deal with buyers who may not have made you aware straight away, 30 days is not long at all.

I had the same issue not worth my saving. Parcel was sent with evri but then it gets lost you have to contact packlink so much drama I gave up.

I've had so many problems with Packlink in the past, so much that I have started to use Royal Mail for everything I sell on eBay. I'm a heavy eBay seller and for past items that have gone missing, Packlink have always sent out a template letter from their insurance company declining payout, even after paying extra for insurance. The extra insurance payment on items is a total scam and I'll never use this company again. You can't even go direct to the courier company to check on lost items (example UPS), as they just bounce you back to Packlink who are the account holders.
    JPS's avatar
Yup. People need to be very aware of what they are signing up for when they use PackLink....Royal Mail Tracked 48 delivery for £3.35 is far superior to the cheaper services on there.

If you paid for packlink via PayPal - you can claim back all ‘charges’ as they never provide any evidence to their claims.

    Glad I use PayPal 😁

Sold 5 items last week - yodel insured to value has always been the cheapest - but quoted 3 day delivery none of them will be arriving in less than a week
    HellRazer's avatar
They're useless, currently waiting for a delivery that's been loaded on the van for the last 3 days...

I'm also part of the don't use Packlink bandwagon.

terrible experience that 1. They will charge you out of nowhere just like what others have said above, hence, the discount means nothing when they slash you with a big overweight charge later. 2. when the items damaged or lost. It will be a nightmare. I had one UPS damaged claim submitted to packlink (Fully insured but UPS said i can only claim through packlink) then i submitted all the evidence they need, emails back and forth over the next 6 months! Yes 6 months it still has not been resolved and then they just do not reply to your email anymore. They simply ignore or block you and you left with a completely damaged item and lost all the money!

Never had that with Packlink. Sent over 100 during this promotion, none were slapped with some mysterious charges. I do not even know how they can to be honest, as they only sell label and it is seller's responsibility to make sure parcel is the weight they claim it is. The only thing I can think of is, if parcel would show some Exception on tracking and upon contacting Packlink they might say - Yes, parcel was stopped by carrier due to being overweight. Other than that can't see how they can claim any money of you if you already bought a label and dropped in Shop/locker where parcel was picked up by courier and is in THEIR system... Packlink would not have any power to stop your parcel traveling through carriers network once it is there with no issues from carriers site itself. I'd say, if you get any issues like that, and no issues with parcel on tracking, just ignore that request from Packlink (edited)

This should be freezing, If you use Packlink then on your head be it, As others have said they have the scam of saying your parcel is to big or heavy and you owe them money.
They give you no proof or anything, Said mine was too big even tho I paid extra anyway and I had the exact dimensions because it was Perfect Draft Beer machine in it's original box.
The scam is so rife and blatant that I think HUKD's should delete this so called Deal, Packlink are no better than any other shady two bit business, I would put trust in Wish or AliExpress before this bunch of thieving toe rags, Why eBay still allow them to be associated I will never know.
Please don't click the link, Vote cold and Just walk on by.

i've had problems with Parcellink in general, more than once. After the parcel has shipped someone from painkilling randomly emails that either the dimensions or the weight wasn't correctly declared. then they keep coming back asking to pay the admin + excess etc etc without actually offering any photo evidence, in the meantime, parcel is also has been delivered. I know exactly what are the dimensions and has been with in the limits.

By this time, I dont have the shipment so I cant prove anything. They dont have the shipment in hold so they cant prove it. There's no one to dispute this as well. waste of time really.

if you look at some of the trustpilot reviews, i'm not the only one has had this experience.
I normally send a couple of hundred a month, used to be using parcellink but now moved completely to Royal Mail.

Surely, there are plenty of people with good experience, thought i'll share mine just in case if someone found it useful.

this is a great offer, so good i might use non RM services at least until the offer expires.
    idontknow01's avatar
Trust me don't. Stick with rm, during the strikes before Christmas. I sent 10 parcels with packlink/evri. 4 got lost 2 turned up damaged. Just don't do it stick with rm, maybe slightly more expensive but it's worth it as they very rarely lose or damage anything. £3.35 48hr tracked is the way.
  14. cadmus's avatar
I've used them a few times and never again . They scam money out of you weeks later saying a previous parcel was declared underweight or undersize etc and add a hefty surcharge . Shysters !
    starsi360's avatar
Yes, exactly my experience. Then they say if you want to contest it, send pictures of the parcel from each side, showing the label in the image. Well unless I take photos of every single package before posting then it's clearly not possible.

At best they're a total faff, and at worst they're a scam. Telling me parcels from weeks ago were over 10kg so I have to pay a surcharge, when checking the item was E.G. a Samsung tablet weighing no more than 2kg. This happened multiple times.

Royal Mail have been flawelss for me for a long time now, hundreds and hundreds of packages sent using trackes 24/48 and not a single one missing. (one or 2 were delayed by 2-3 days during strikes but that is the only issue I had)

I'm part of the don't use Packlink bandwagon.

Prices are great until something goes wrong, then it becomes increasing difficult or near on impossible to resolve.

Fairly certain all their staff are based in Spain too which makes things even harder.

Most of the time I deal direct with the courier, costs a little more but resolutions are a little less painless.
  16. Skyjack's avatar
I had few problems with Parcellink and would not recommend anyone their service, they are only middle man anyway better go directly with the service provider. They will charge you extra after a month or two latter for the same postal service with the excuse of weight or size of the package.
  17. JPS's avatar
The DPD price is the standout here
  18. dré.'s avatar
worst "delivery" company bar none, if you have issues you have no recourse as they're based in Spain.
  19. JayJey's avatar
Packlink are awful. Same as people above they scam you later claiming dimensions and weight are incorrect. I post everything from my workplace and we have the proper resources for accurate weight and dimension measurements so packlink are having a laugh. Recently they sent a bill for an overweight parcel which was underpaid and this was the ONLY time I accidentally selected the wrong weight during payment so I took responsibility and paid £3.18 for the surcharge. But…. These baboons are still claiming the payment wasn’t sent even with evidence of the transactions and the fact that I can’t pay using their link anymore as the “payment has already been received”… still they’re chasing me for this elusive payment to be made and have since deactivated my access to Packlink on eBay. Since then I’ve used Parcel2Go who have significantly better customer service!

‘Give buyers peace of mind?’ I think it’s ‘sellers’ who carry all the risk on eBay.

Another vote for AVOID from me too.
Took me 3 months of hassle to get compensation for a parcel trashed by the delivery company.

If you do decide to use them, make sure you take photos of your package when you send it. They argued with me that the box was damaged when I sent it. A total farce when it was covered in Hermes tape after being delivered.
    Never again!
  23. deleted248415's avatar
All the crap companies offering discount as ebayers don't trust them. I only use royal mail for small items and ups for larger or more expensive items. Few times I used hermes they lost my item. Dpd and yodel always leave things on my doorstep to be nicked so I wouldn't want them to do same to parcels i send
    Mini_Mi's avatar
Interesting. My area DPD guys are not allowed even to take a picture prior to me opening door. They actually said that to me. And I once even volunteered to take my neighbours parcel and they said they are not allowed unless customer has put preference in. So not sure where this bad DPD rep comes from...maybe put a complaint about your area guy, as DPD is the most trusted in my opinion.
  24. memyselfmash's avatar
once upon a time, you would choose Royal Mail for most things, even if it cost a little more. Just for reassurance you would get a good service and you won't have issues claiming if a parcel got lost.

Well, that aint the case anymore... Royal Mail have became a liability too. So I think the amount you save here will outweigh the extra problems that arise... So this is a good deal IMO and I will be using it.

    Thanks OP
    dré.'s avatar
At least you can take RM to court in the UK and have a complaints process with the. Sure, they try and get out of paying for damage and use the "market value" defence but Packlink are based in Spain, you have no complaints process or recourse.

Do you have to activate offer, tia

Cheers got a e-bay item to post.
  27. Robby_123's avatar
For what its worth i have had maybe 2 claims with packlink both damage claims, and they were helpful and paid out the full amount i requested. Although being based in spain and having spanish speaking reps primarily its not so easy to explain whole cases to them in a way they can also understand.
  28. dsatts1's avatar
Use packlink with caution. I have had trouble with them in the past and all the couriers refer you back to fleecebay if there is a problem. If sending something valuable definitely go direct. It isnt worth risking the grief just to save a couple of quid on postage (edited)

  33. sanjay.hirani's avatar
Packlink are one of the worst for additional charges. I always get emails well over a month after posting to say that the items are just slightly out of size, even though I measure before I select the service. If you post loads of items it's difficult to remember that long after sending. Disputing the charges is also a joke as they have always refused my appeals even with pictures of the items and sizes.

Once you pay additional charges it's cheaper to buy postage directly through the courier companies, the discounts with packlink are worthless
    Mini_Mi's avatar
Are you sure you are not being scammed by another company that looks similar?? I do not see how Packlink can charge you anything extra after you already paid for label and carrier itself has not had any issues delivering it. I mean, they only sell label and take money as a one time purchase. For them to take anything extra, they would need a Direct Debit or continues debit/credit card payment mandate with you, otherwise bank will not allow them to take anything extra. And e-mails are not binding to you. What are they trhreating to do then???
  34. doesitmatter's avatar
Could be ok option for cheaper items under £25. But just for £15 extra, will cost £1.54 insurance. And really pain if item gets lost. Takes months to get refund and needs lot of communication. And 1 out of 10 items will be lost. Would prefer Royal Mail considering they collect free until 1st April and offer £100 insurance for “Royal Mail 48 hours” service. They rarely lose item. (edited)
