    Same as said by Jack420, but both are pretty decent for relatively low cost bikes. The Calibre will be miles better than lots of cheapo bikes, and should be able to handle some proper offroading.

    I always thought the front gears were useful, until I started riding my Trek single 12 speed I realised it was just unnecessary. More weight, more stress on the chain and further complications. Just my opinion mind.

    I am interested in a bike, but don't know where to start as there is lots of options. I hear Shimano do the best gears etc. So, what do I look for spec wise? Budget under 400quid

    Where to start is by deciding what sort of riding you're going to be doing. If you're into mountain biking, you'll be wanting a mountain bike, if you want a folding bike to take on the train, a folder, and so on. What is it you want the bike for?
