Hi all, have been searching for a new security camera this evening as our car was stolen last night so the wife is a bit on edge still. The neighbour got some images but the guy had a hoodie on so no luck with ID from whatever camera he has!

Anyways, came across this one on a limited offer and the reviews seem good enough so thought I'd share.

Many thanks!

49711284-GDKCs.jpgGreat product, we have 3 including this at a remote building site which has become invaluable. The inbuilt alarm function has scared off dozens of prowler and the speaker allowed me to chat with police checking the area. Battery is great down there but outside my house not so good with picking up so much traffic but I've just installed a solar charger which will hopefully solve that issue

If you try pairing the camera at your home with the eufy motion sensor it helps stop recording things that you don't need. Should save some battery.

    Thanks OP.
Absolutely brilliant products., with no need for on going subscription if you don't want to.

However I would question you research what you need. My Eufy cams are at the entrance doors and trigger when a human comes near the door. So they dont record 24/7 and won't record what happens in the street or end of the drive, unless a human comes in range.

You might be better off with a dedicated cctv system with a hard drive hub that records you drive and car and the street 24/7

Must be too early for all the Eufy haters to post the usual security concerns from their Google, Apple, Alexis, etc devices.😃 The push notifications have to be temporary stored in rhe cloud to be able to be seen on your phone.

I have the 2c from a black Friday deal. Best to buy these sort of things when sales are on and with Easter coming up maybe the next good prices.

If you buy one install it high enough someone cannot nick it or press the the reset button.

Or if installing lower, Ebay sell plastic cases with a noddy chain if you want to install within reach. Likewise a solar panel is a brilliant accessory if you don't want to have to take the camera down to recharge it. (edited)

Good tips. But I think you need to control your biases around Eufy.

You're undertsating the problem to suit your opinion- it's not just that it uploaded a thumbnail. Feeds could be accessed remotely with no encryption, amongst other issues. And then Eufy lied about it, before eventually addressing.

Google, Apple etc. also do not pretend their producvts work 100% offline, whereas Eufy did. Even if that doesn't matter to you, people should be able to trust their security company not to lie, especially when you have cameras/microphones in your home. (edited)

Absolute must have these days. Have Reolinks around the house. They are good too and no charge for recordings. Have Ring doorbell and Ring camera in kitchen which captures a different view. They hiked up their yearly contract fees so cancelled. Why pay a yearly fee because for the same cost near enough you can buy this excellent bit of kit.
Buy a Salind vehicle tracker while your at it. 3 month battery life. £54 yearly fee and will track your vehicle around the globe.

The best you can hope for with any CCTV is that it acts as a deterrent. My mums fella has proper 24/7 wired colour CCTV which is visible, cost maybe £700+ (no idea if it’s ‘good’ or not but it seemed pretty decent).

Some scrote smashed his van window on the driveway, nothing but his hoody up… we got a really good clear video of the whole incident with time stamps and date, along with the guys face and a neighbour who witnessed it and chased the guy off.

Put in on Facebook, within an hour had maybe 15 people all come back with the same name, a well known thief in our area. Went through the trouble of uploading it to the Police etc, gave them the guys name, all of the details… the Police didn’t even investigate it, zero compensation, they just said that the guy was caught for a bunch of others stuff and he basically just let the police put his name against a bunch of unsolved crimes and it was job done as far as they are concerned. They said the chance of him being able to pay compensation in the rare chance it was lucky enough to go through courts and be ordered was pretty much zero.

So go into it with your eyes open. This seems like a decent deal for a camera that will at least put off a few sceotes and give you a bit of evidence, as much as a camera for 10x the price will, but no matter how much you spend there’s always going to be a chance.

Thanks all. It was stolen at 9:04pm right outside whilst we were watching TV. No idea how without the key. It only took him a minute to start it. We found the car eventually yesterday and they (3 reported) had blown the engine. What upset us the most is that they ditched all the kids stuff, 2 car seats (we have a 3yo & 8 week old), front and rear dash cams and all the service history manuals from the glove box. What also makes us nervous is everywhere we have been in the car lately will be on that SD card. We've only had it 5 weeks, it was a lovely car (Qashqai we bought for more space due to daughter arriving). (edited)

Firstly sorry to hear this and I hope your family get over the trauma and distress these things cause soon.

Secondly this is a good deal. I have 4 Eufy cameras and hard wired CCTV. The eufy doorbell and cameras are great for quickly checking the property if needed. Maybe the doorbell rings or to confirm a false alarm if the burglar alarm goes off. The wired CCTV is recording 24/7 as a backup to document events so a timeline can be provided to authorities if needed.

However, living in London, I have absolutely no illusion that cameras provide any deterrent whatsoever from car thefts. Amateur thieves, let alone professionals, will cover their faces and scoff at the camera. Ultimately you can only make it harder for for the theft rather than to stop it so, in this case, I suggest you purchase a high quality steering lock and/or a driveway security post. But another way of looking at it is if they can take the car quickly with little fuss then thats all they do. It's rare but, not unheard of, for them to try to enter the property, or target the owners themselves, to obtain the keys to a vehicle that they really want. It may not feel like it but them taking the vehicle with no physical harm to your family really is the best outcome.

On the keys question, I am hazarding that your Nissan has keyless entry and your car keys are hung up near the front door. If this is the case it is likely they used a signal booster to essentially trick the car to thinking the keys were within proximity of it. I personally hate keyless entry but there is nothing you can do to disable it. The only option is to buy yourself an RFID blocking key case or box but this doesn't stop signal grabbing, when out and about, if the thief has targeted your vehicle and is using that method. I have a wyze v3 wired cam cost £50 does all of the above with no subscription costs or hubs ect. has a 64gb memory card i bought and records 24/7 and holds about 6 days of footage before automatically overwriting the oldest footage first. All can be accessed from your phone. Also stores free 12 secs clips in the cloud for free. If someone wants a alternative 24/7 cctv. Colour night vision is outstanding also. Bit of a pain having to have it wired but if you truly want to pick up all movement wired is a must. My blink doorbell lasted about a week before the battery started to die with the same setting. Going to be buying another for my back garden with the to big floodlights included for a £100 off ebay imported from the usa

I have this and it's not great , best is the picture quality .

    Worst Bit

    1. Battery life is horrible , i have a Eufy solar panel connected and still in cold moths it drops more than it charges . Be mindful I am comparing that with Eufy cam 2 pro which is about 10 feet away and with same solar panel setup and all same settings and yet it never drops below 100% battery . The Eufy cam 2 pro even has more alerts.

    2. No RTSP Support

    3. No anti tamper alarm like Eufy cam 2 pro .

So overall for me all those are enough not to invest on it

Just installed it on the front, it's certainly an improvement for us as we only had our drive way covered around the side. Good image quality, looking forward to checking it at night. Accidentally set off the manual 30s alarm, damn that's pretty loud! Haha.

I feel for you We had our house burgled and they took the car keys to steal the car about 10 years ago and my wife still hasn't got over it fully as she was upstairs with the kids while I was at work. I really beefed up security then and have continued to do so over the years including 2 Eufy floodlights and a dual camera doorbell, but I agree with these don't record continuously so if you're after something that'll capture everything you'd be better off with a dedicated dvr cctv system. Hope your wife gets over it soon. Take care.

For anyone considering a Eufy camera product you might want to make a search on Youtube for "eufy spying on you", before you commit (if personal data and security are important to you).

It's often worth having a very obvious camera and then a more hidden camera lower down where you would expect them to be looking away from the obvious camera.
Cameras are handy but with masks and hoodies they're still not perfect. I think the most important thing is to make your own home and possessions look a less easy target than others in the area.

If you have eufy cameras id recommend you check your events, i only just realised yesterday that none of my recordings had been saved since the january update, I hadn't noticed because when i clicked on the current day recording were there but when i tried to look at something from the day before nothing there from any of my 5 cameras.
Looked at play store reviews and seems theres a lot of issues currently, records disappear after 2 hours is the issue i was having, i looked and memory was full on every camera as expected but not over writing.
I wiped the cameras so they have 0gb used and now they're wrking again, so new update is stopping them over writing once full.
Ive also noticed my flood light cam pro has started turning the light on every few minutes constantly all night long even though nothings moving

I have a eufy camera at the front of my property. I have had issues since it's purchase. Eufy were I must say I excellent... But. After meeting all the criteria, certain, height and angle. I am NOT 100% pleased.
It does not pick up human movement as soon as they come into range. We had a group of lads chuck a "for sale" sign in our front garden. By the time the camera started the act had already been done.
    Thinking of changing

Here's my idea if I ever have a car worth stealing:

I'd stick one of those wireless battery powered ones in the car, clip it on the sunvisor to g et a really good shot of their face.,

CCTV is great but as you found out, you'll end up with a low fps video of some scrote in a hoodie. Handy having movement alerts.

I have this camera, its pretty good and I bought it because of its tricky position that I couldnt route cable to it.
But if you can, get the Eufy cabled version because the only thing I dont like about this compared to my C22 EUFY is it doesn’t record non stop, only to motion which sometimes doesnt record long enough or catch it early enough

Surely the problem with this cam and many others (especially Blink, etc) they have really poor quality video at night. I frankly feel even without masks you will find it very difficult to get any sort of clear pics of faces.Unless you have like an 8K video and the ability to freeze and zoom in a lot and still see a face clearly then all you have is evidence the car was stolen...for the insurance and police and is that worth it after all...its stolen. Best thing is fit some really good fake cameras - a lot cheaper and it will deter most. Also dont forget the angles of the camera they are pointing normally always high looking down. (edited)
