Meet Pixel 7a, engineered by Google. Bringing you super selfies, all-day battery life, and super-speedy 5G connectivity. The Pixel camera takes amazing photos and videos, even in low light. And no need to worry about security either – the Tensor G2 chip and built-in VPN by Google One help protect your personal data. Pixel 7a is fast, secure, and built to perform.

5G capability
Say bye-bye to buffering. The super-fast 5G-ready connection zips through downloads at record pace. Stream, browse, and watch whatever you want, wherever you want. Waiting forever for your Instagram feed to load up will be a distant memory.

Brilliant cinematic screen
The Pixel 7a’s screen brings you gorgeously lush visuals. Its 6.1 inch OLED display comes HDR-enabled and supports up to 90Hz refresh rate. Put in plain English (don’t worry, we had to look up half of that too), you’ll get rich, real-world colour and contrast, and smooth scrolling on a clear, bright, cinema-aspect screen.

The brains behind Pixel 7a
The Google Tensor G2 chip makes it faster, more efficient and more secure than the previous generation (Pixel 6a), with improved audio on phone calls, great battery life, and amazing photo and video quality.

Security a priority
With Google Tensor G2 and the certified Titan M2 chip, Pixel 7a is built with multiple layers of security to help keep your personal info safe.

At a glance
At a Glance shows you useful info at the right time, like weather alerts, when it's time to leave for a flight, and your boarding pass at the airport (requires the Gmail app).

Simply touch to unlock
With face unlock and the on-screen fingerprint sensor, you can instantly log in to your apps and websites without compromising on security.

Perfected Pixel photos
Pixel 7a's dual rear camera system with advanced image processing can take amazing pictures in low light, fix blurry photos, and remove distractions thanks to Magic Eraser (requires Google Photos app). And you can get up close without the need for an extra telephoto lens with 8x Super Res Zoom.

Real Tone, great looks
Real Tone represents more skin tones beautifully, authentically and accurately in photos, videos and Meet video calls.

Dust, drop and splash resistant
Whether it’s a quick dip in the bath or just checking out the streets (literally), our phones go through a lot. Thankfully, the Pixel 7a safeguards you from any little oops, with IP67 water and dust resistance. The screen also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, so it’s tough, less prone to scratches, plus it’s resistant to those pesky fingerprints.

The battery that lasts
Pixel's Adaptive Battery can last over 24 hours. Turn on Extreme Battery Saver, and the battery can last up to 72 hours. And your Pixel supports fast charging.

The problem I had when I owned this phone (note the past tense) was the 5G connection which resulted in dropped calls and poor connectivity. This was due to the Samsung Exynos 5300 modem that it uses. I found that if I forced it to use 4G then the problem vastly disappeared but it shouldn't be that way. Google know about the problem but still went ahead and used it in production.
How to turn OFF 5G (edited)

Were they dropped calls where the line has cut off? Ive got the pixel 8 where the other caller can't hear me but I can hear them, but not necessarily the call actually being cut off altogether. Very intermittent and very annoying. I was told by my network provider to turn off 5g, which I've done only yesterday, so time will tell, but I'm not convinced. Maybe they are right, and it's just an issue with the hardware Google are using? (edited)

Love this phone but the battery life is atrocious, I have to have it on battery saver mostly and even then it never lasts a whole day. It drains 20-30% overnight.

I recall owning the 7a some months ago, got it from three for around £280. The battery would just keep dropping without using it, within hours it would drop, 99,98,97,96,95. It would drop by 10% in an hour or two despite me just leaving it sat doing nothing. It got to the stage that I was turning off location, bluetooth and anything else that may save battery life.

I came from a Pixel 4a, but happy with this Pixel 7a.

I find it snappier, amazing camera, love face recognition to unlock, wireless charging - been happy with the upgrade.

Know battery is what always will let down these mid range phones, but for someone that uses it quite a bit, gets me through the day no problem. (edited)

Pixel 8a will be released in under 2months... Wait for that

    hesuruio_io's avatar
Sure but that will be £500+ at launch.

Awful battery life. Got rid after 4 months.

This makes me feel better about missing out on the offer direct from Google a few days back. I note the negatives above but still feel better about this at £300 than a £1000 iPhone!
    gingerwarrior13's avatar
I’m kinda annoyed now will try and start a return direct with Google to then get this one. Grrrr

    I like a small phone.
Currently still on a Samsung S10e which is fine unless I need more than 6 hours battery
This or a Samsung S20 (new unsused/Excellent) for about £210-215 (edited)

The 7a is seen as a relatively compact phone these days, but you will definitely notice the difference in size and weight compared the the S10e...

I came from the Pixel 5 and just find the 7a too big and even more so too heavy (190 grams compared to the 150gm Pixel 5) for every day use for me,, my pockets don't like it... I have stuck with the Pixel 5 and keep the 7a as my home phone / WiFi hotspot.

Android Phones have got too big and heavy these days. It's a great device otherwise if those issues are okay for you. (edited)

Too much at 299. Still can't believe the Moto Edge 40 deal from the other day. (edited)

Have this phone and hate it. Came from a 4a 5G and nothing but the camera has been an improvement. Fingerprint scanner that relies on light which never works, native Google apps including Chrome not working properly, random restarts, terrible bat life, camera speed is seriously slow etc.

    Never again.
    obwan2014's avatar
Fingerprint is a disaster and battery lousy. Two things that annoy the hell out of me EVERY day. Avoid. (edited)

I helped someone buy one of these during the Curry's deal.

It's a good phone spec wise with the camera and 90hz screen but I couldn't help feeling it felt a bit cheap with the big bezels and relatively thick feel.

It doesn't feel like an 'A' phone to me. Spec wise yes but I think it's too big and heavy personally.
    UltraValue_Tech's avatar
Well its a budget version of the 7 ?
  11. shaynzka's avatar
    Good price but I'd avoid.

    Battery
Life is horrible even when not using battery will drain fast.

    5G
Get ready for dropped calls or notifications not coming through as they should do on apps or all at once when it gets connection back.

    Paper Gap
    Between the frame and screen

    Sellotape
On a sunny day on white screen you see some sort of tape used under the screen

Apple fan boy or fake phone lol. I have no experience of the above issues (edited)

Why is it never 256gb version of Pixels ?
    thethirdman333's avatar
Pretty sure it is! I used this exact same offer code on the Pixel 8 256GB

Shame no Circle to Search included in the new feature drop for this one yet, only coming on the 7 and 7 Pro.
Thought it would be fine as it has the Tensor G2 chip, guess Google will add it at a later date. (edited)

Of course it's slightly cheaper after I just bought one.

Phone feels nice and the camera is great.

Hate the default launcher (back to Nova). One surpising thing is it doesn't have a notification light. That's a random thing you expect every phone to have.

No issue with calls so far, but to be fair I hardly make any calls. Most will be over wifi too. Not had it long enough to test battery, but I can already tell it's nowhere near as fast at charge as my old Mate 20 Pro.

Anyone knows if the battery life of 7 or 8 is as bad as on the 6a and 7a ?
    DopeyDunker's avatar
I've got a 7 and I've no problem with the battery life. Lasts me a day, but I had no problem with my 6a lasting me a day either (especially when it was on android 14). My pixel 7 seems slightly better on the battery than my 6a overall. (edited)
  17. thethirdman333's avatar
I note that this can be used on other Pixels including the Pixel 8

    I have a pixel 8 and it's a great phone.
Picked it up cheap through the BT employee offer last year

Can someone let me know whether Google store will do price match at this offer price of 299 GBP if the purchase was done from google store 1 week back?
