How do you go about getting free ink for the 4 months.. Do they get sent automatically or do you have to order them etc.. Tia

Its their instant ink program. You get a special cartridge which is replaced when it gets low. There is normally a card in the box to claim your free months . You can normally get extra months using codes FREEINK and getting a referral from an existing instant ink user

I haven't had a printer for almost 20 years so I'm sorry for asking some dumb questions.

I might need to print maybe a half a dozen pages once every six months.

I normally just pop into Rymans with a USB stick and its about a fiver a pop.

Would I be better off buying one of these? I just worry if I don't print something regularly the ink cartridges would gum up. Im assuming I can just use a regular in cartridge rather than subscribe.

I could just print a token page once a month but is it really worth my buying a printer at all given my low usage?

If you're an irregular colour printer then I'd suggest buying a printer that has ink cartridges that have the print head built in.
If it dries up you only need to change the ink cartridge not the whole printer.
This seems to take 304 cartridges which have the print head. (edited)

That's not a bad price for a simple printer and paper and its wireless. I would just cancel the instant ink and use the cartridges provided. Also, I usually fill my own cartridges (messy sometimes), so I would make sure it's a cartridge that can be refilled and print something ever so often so the cartridges don't dry up.
If your a regular printer user then instant ink is a good deal without the refill headache.

If you use the instant ink part of the deal is you agree to use HP cartridges for the life of the printer.

once the chip thinks it’s hot the max no of pages it will report the cart as empty.  Refilling usually doesn’t help in this case.

I was sceptical about instant ink, but 4 months, with 750 pages per month (full colour photo ptints if you want) it pays for itself !

Are these consecutive months? What if I don’t use up the ink during those first few months? Does it roll over, or do they send the cartridge out anyway?

This worth it as just a scanner (and maybe for photos) to go alongside a Brother printer or are their cheaper scanners about?

Is it easy enough to cancel Instant Ink? Cartridges generally last me years so not keen on a monthly payment after the free months

The cartridges will stop working once the subscription has been cancelled. Yes I know it sounds like I'm joking!

Why won't my printer print after I cancelled the HP Instant Ink service? You can’t use HP Instant Ink cartridges after you cancel your service. Why? Because Instant Ink is an alternate way to print, where you pay for the pages you print, not for ink cartridges. Just as with a cell phone plan you can only make calls as long as you are enrolled with your cell phone provider, you can only print with Instant Ink cartridges while you are enrolled in an Instant Ink plan. If you cancel, you must buy regular HP ink cartridges to resume printing.

Hey guys I've got this printer.. If you ever have the printer error "unavailable" please don't spend two hours trying to sort it like this mug lol.. It was simply because my WiFi had reverted to a different router.. Once I put them on the same WiFi network the printer came up as available.. Haha

Got this delivered today, the box/booklet say 4 months free ink but when I try and sign up it only offers 2 months. Anyone else had this issue? (edited)

I strongly advise doing a bit of research before signing up for instant ink especially with their latest shenanigans.
