Anyone know who usually fits new fire alarms? Just a standard electrician? (edited)

No wiring, battery operated so easily a DIY job but if you want to hire help doesn’t need to be electrician

Doesn't strike me as that stunning a deal. If you google 10 year battery smoke and carbon monoxide alarm there are plenty of reputable alarms around at similar or lower prices. Safer with a mains one which has a battery back up anyway

Agree on alternatives but question if mains is really a "safer" option on grounds cost, redundancy & optimisation. Taking account the labour cost of installing mains power to ideal positions for CO alarm + making good decor. Awkward if one rents (Eng&Wal) or be at an airbnb or similar even if no apparent combustion the latter. Yes it's landlord's responsibility but you'll be dead while instead you could have had one of these. My best guess is put a 10 year in a gas supplied room year 1 & another nearby 3 or 4 years later (ea. replaced on battery expiry) will cost under 1/30th a mains install with professional replacement. Also increase chance of timely detection & alarm.

Not legal for use in Scotland as cannot be interlinked with other alarms
