C5 program formally the Gadget show, tested 3 sets of knives and the 3 chefs picked this set as the best by far the best.

I was going to get this set until I saw they are not suitable for the dishwasher. That's a big factor for me. Still voted hot

You should not put knives in a dishwasher. Unless you use cheap knives and you're changing them often. This is how you damage knives.

They're shit knives. Every time you see a knife set for sale you should think "will I actually use 90% of these knives?".

They're an illusion of value. None of us are professional chefs. One decent knife is far better value than a knife set. Also, like, integrated sharpener? Are you actually kidding me? How crappy must the knives be that they warrant sharpening that frequently?

Save your money. For the vast majority of people, a Victorinox santoku (non fluted), a Wusthoff chef knife, or something equivalent is far far better value for money than garbage knife sets with garbage knives you'll never use.

    > "But they're sharp!"

Mate, you can make a knife made of milk sharp... it's not a gauge of quality. How long it keeps an edge is the gauge of quality, and if the knifeblock has a built in sharpener (which will be crappy), that tells you all you need to know about how good the knives are. (edited)

I don't understand why this is cold. The 5 set is back upto £168 now. I ordered it at £109 for delivery tomorrow. This is a very good price.

Because if you watch a couple YouTube videos, you will see that the sharping block is just a gimmick

Great set but it does take up alot of room, much bigger than my previous knife block.

I got this set for this price last year and they’re great. Extremely sharp…so sharp I’ve got a nice scar on my index finger now but that’s another story

Heat! I missed the deal yesterday, opted to go for a used as good as new box for a £1 cheaper and it arrived with clear signs of use of the knives so back it goes. Soon as my credit is up on my Amazon account I’m getting this…unless it goes out of stock again

These or a Victorinox set? Depending on whether the sharpener is decent or not
    sheffield788's avatar
If you find them at around the same price, go for Victorinox or Zwilling. Or for Henckels, which are usually cheaper.

Any knives experts out there what’s your thoughts on this set vs the ninja

Friend has similar block, they are lovely knives.
Personally I like to go into a shop and hold them, hate having knives where my knuckles hit the table or just uncomfortable.

I would like it if the 14 piece set went on sale

    The scissors are cack

Are the blades removable to be able to sharpen?

Agree with most comments.... very good knives (not that I know much about knives)
