    Any good for a breathtakingly, spectacularly bad cook who can defy the fundamental laws of physics, space and time with a mere stove top?

    Reckon probably not.
    You've got to spend a bit of time caring for them properly
    Suspect you'd be better off with stainless steel (which will last a life time) or some cheap non-stick (which will need to be replaced every few years)
    Cast iron is awesome, but it needs a bit more care.
    I think some people expect a teflon non-stick experience from it and can be disappointed.
    It's also heavy and takes a while to heat up.
    If you're not cooking much, you'll probably find it more of a chore.
