Any what warranty Bristol Camera provide? 1yr or 2yrs? Otherwise £419 with kit lens at Argos and John Lewis with 2yr guarantee. The extras Bristol Camera (memory card, battery and case) are compelling.

Agree with the sigma 30mm f1.4 great lens

Great deal.
The kit zoom is rather poor optically but very compact. So worth having for travel. But I would advise buying separately and second hand.
A 30mm Sigma prime is the lens to get for this camera IMO. The 19mm and 60mm are also great and quite inexpensive.

R.e. Your megapixel comments, what are you proposing as an alternative?

Hi Woldranger, not proposing any alternative, just informing prospective buyers.
Manufacturers are very good at using common terms to suit their marketing use.
I own 2 Panasonic cameras as well as Nikon so agree they have their place.

why is it 'only' 8megapixel in 4k mode, thats the plus point - every frame in the video is a photo
4k IS 8MP

I know 4K is 8MP, thus me writing this, thought that may be obvious.
For photography, 8MP is very undesirable. If you want Video 4K is fine but not for photography.
Also, I'm putting this info out there for people considering it, not slating the Camera.

so.... anyone think it looks like k-9?

Looks like K-9!!!!

I bought this from Amazon some time back and use it to carry my Lumix LX100. It fits the camera perfectly, there's an inner pouch the right size for the spare battery and the external pouch on the strap I use to carry the hot shoe flash and ND filter. I don't think you can go wrong for the price.

I have the larger version of this bag.
It is perfect for a mirrorless camera. This I imagine is too small to fit any accessories. Mine takes an a6000 with a couple of small lenses (kit zoom plus 30mm prime or 19mm prime) plus two batteries and lens hoods.
Zip closure opens quite wide, but yes you have to be a little careful. In use you only need to close the velcro flap.

My experience with Park Cameras left a lot to be desired. I ordered a camera over the phone after carefully spending quite some time chatting about specifications etc. Wondered why it had not arrived. When phoning them up I found there had been no stock in and it was a 'mistake'. The girl taking the order was learning. They had taken my money out too if I recall (although it was refunded). Maybe a one off but it certainly put me off from ordering ever again.

Cold because it's not Canon.... No, seriously, have some heat. ISO rating …Cold because it's not Canon.... No, seriously, have some heat. ISO rating is the headliner, but not sure how that actually works out in real life. 4K video - OK, Canon trailing there - we know that. But £5K camera with 20MP in 2017?. You know what? I'm delighted with my 5DSr - more than twice the pixels, for less than half the price!

The 5dsr is comparable to the D810, which is also cheaper. People buy the D5 for a reason.
12fps at full resolution and 14fps with the mirror up. Low noise at high ISO. If you already have many Nikon lenses, your not going to switch brand. Like me, have used nikons for many years as the lenses don't date as fast as the bodies.
Not everyone wants huge files which are not needed. D5 owners want high quality images which can be processed fast. I could say that the 5fps your camera does in 2017 is poor, but every camera is suited to different types of photography and budgets. Your camera has a shutter life of 150k frames, D5 is 400k frames. The new D850 costs about the same as your camera, has 45.7MP and can shoot 9fps.

For those that still think in shillings, we're talking about 1 to 2 1/2 inches in distance from your subject.

The quality may not be as good as Sheffield Steel, as these are unfortunately made in Japan, but it should at least be a step up from the camera on your phone.

Worth noting, these lenses also have a lot of pixels in them, which over a period of time can come loose and turn into dust flakes. However, the grain it turns into is only noticeable when taking photos in the dark.

I have a Sony camera with USB charging, problem with this is that because the battery doesn't last that long, you need two or more batteries, there's no charger supplied and so you have to buy a separate charger. It's very easy to choose the focus point on the LX100 so not sure a touch screen would be a big advantage. Full 16mp would be good, flip screen and better EVF would be very welcome.

If you want a pocketable interchangeable lens camera, you could do far worse than this. Image quality is generally regarded as more than decent and the lenses are ridiculously tiny.

69!

With a bit of correction (usefully, the Pentax Q shoots in DNG format!) the shots are recoverable but not usually straight out of camera. https://www.flickr.com/search/?user_id=49428112%40N00&view_all=1&text=kisanon shows the ones I shot on that lens, including some dark greenish looking uncorrected ones (that got uploaded by Aperture after it annoyingly decided for no reason to replace the carefully corrected and cropped ones with the SOOC ones). That’s the only other lens I had. A lot of people stick telescopes on the other end, and I think I sort of waveringly held one of my Nikon teles in front of it one night, but of course, not with any degree of planar accuracy — what with the massive air gap and guesswork involved. One of the downsides to this Q is that once the body cap is off, the sensor is exposed, nearly almost at surface level — mind out!

there is a 69 page thread on pentaxforums about adapted lenses - says it can be quite picky about what it performs well with
here is that thread i was on about before i think

I was quite sad to see it go, but pleased at what it gained me as a reduction of a different (also secondhand) camera that I currently use all the time. I simply wasn’t using the Q much any more, but when I was using it, I was nothing but pleased with it.

did you try adapted lenses on it? im going to have to look for the review/blog now but the photos i saw were very very good, certainly at the size shown on the web

edit: cant find it but heres a reply in an old thread of 2 other photos

For completeness, it's 225 to 900 on a Sony crop sensor
It gets all round good reviews, the only feedback I had from a forum member on dyxum.com was that he had sent his back for calibration test as it wasn't as sharp as he expected at the long end, and it was returned as checked ok and within tolerance, but I guess that's ok so long as your camera body has lens micro adjust and you can tweak it a little.
