Limited 180gm vinyl LP repressing. Digitally remastered edition of this 1982 album by the hard rock quartet. Diver Down was the band's fifth album, which ended up going four-times platinum. With vocals by the wildly entertaining David Lee Roth, the guitar masterwork of Eddie Van Halen and the irreplaceable rhythm section of drummer Alex Van Halen and bassist/backing vocalist Michael Anthony, Van Halen were one of the late '70s and early '80s greatest Rock 'n' Roll bands. Mastering engineer Chris Bellman, who remastered the original albums at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios, was enlisted for this new version. In order to produce the original sound the band intended, Bellman cut straight from the quarter-inch tapes.

It's an OK Van Halen album. If you haven't got Van Halen and Fair Warning get those two first. As with Hendrix, Van Halen was ahead of his time. If you've ever heard Mean Street from the Fair Warning album 1981 no one else was doing stuff like the intro to that song in 1981. Also as with Hendrix you can copy Van Halen but you can't get his rhythm down in the same way he could shuffle it.

Anyway as an example from this very album. Hang Em High a deceptively difficult riff >

The other guitar master Hendrix. These two examples help explain the unique abilities of these two guitarists. We were very lucky almost impossibly lucky to have lived in a time when these two rock guitarists existed.
