Found an Amazon listing for this item. In the questions section the seller confirms they are from Israel.

That's always good to know the place of origin...!
Then you can make an ethical decision !!
  2. Zameen's avatar
If the bar code starts with 729 then it means product is from Israel
    expandingmaan's avatar
Funny enough there are counterfeit "Palestinian dates" with no bar codes. Which usually indicates Israeli origin
  3. aje2010's avatar
I tend to buy ethically sourced goods, can anyone confirm whether these are Palestinian dates, that benefit the Palestinian people
    biggan's avatar
    They’re Israeli unfortunately :(.
  4. Anwar_Ali's avatar
What country are these exported from?
    maj1's avatar
They have some other ones on the website which are King Solomon branded. King Solomon ones are Israeli dates so these may well be Israeli. Without knowing which country they're from I will not be buying.
  5. masliya's avatar
Most likely Made in Israel as is with nearly all Medgool brand nowadays as Saudi sold this brand to them now.

Hi, is there an article you can link for more info?

    Are they Israeli?
    1AKY's avatar
    Probably. I’d avoid.

    Are they Israeli? #checkthelabel

I'm pretty sure they are. If you look at the fourth photo on this post, it says "Palestine Jericho" underneath the barcode. Just type this on google and see for yourself. I personally don't trust it. Research yourself people.

Remember to have them in moderation as dates have a very high sugar content. Something to watch especially if you’re diabetic.

No hint where these produced. Palestinian Medjoul far better then Israeli ones. You would know if you have tasted both.

these are Israeli. search for the brand River Jordan
  13. mohammed_tasawar's avatar
    These dates are still available.
  14. Sully1's avatar
When you click on the link, it says these are discontinued and to order something else. Not working.

I may be wrong, but these are usually this price in local Islamic shops aren't they? Or has the price gone up?
    Sully1's avatar
5kg for £45 in local cash and carry. Plus what islam got to do with dates?
  18. TristanDeCoonha's avatar
You can make these into something special by packing them with a slightly smelly cheese, wrapping an extra ingredient, then cook until crispy.
An expensive treat, but very nice, and very moreish.

Sounds delicious just swap for Halal smokey turkey rashes instead of bacon if you want to enjoy them for Ramadan & Eid.
  19. OLDSKOOL's avatar
So, Palestine or Israeli? I have read all the above and have not got a definitive answer. I think Palestinian dates have a nicer taste, if not texture?
    Astec's avatar
Few people suggest the latter, so I'd avoid.
  20. usman330's avatar
    These look nice.
Rememeber, dates are a much healthier treat if you cant resist having something sweet after a meal, just have a couple of these.
I even have a few dates and some milk as breakfast, enough for a decent run in the morning.
    Heat.

Does anyone know the source of these dates? As in which country
    s10's avatar
Likely Israel thought boxes I think says Palestine.
    They sell other Israeli dates
  24. hotsir's avatar
Remember to wash them before eating
    Dast's avatar
Eat loads of dates, never wash and never been ill. Doubt ‘locals’ bother before eating either.
  25. degular's avatar
    Awful taste, terrible quality. Avoid.
    hotsir's avatar
You must have got the batch with maggots
  26. little_grape's avatar
Doh - just missed it. The Penny Appeal sell amazing Palestinian Medjool dates too; we order every year.
  27. sam1970's avatar
So they dont deliver to home address. How much for delivery and is there a minimum order amount?
    Cyb's avatar
if you've seen them delivering to a takeaway near you could ask them to put it on their order for you!
  28. Babyninja's avatar
Shame it's £79 minimum for delivery
    Bobbins's avatar
£79 is quite an expensive delivery charge.
  29. X_RHussain_X's avatar
Always 25£ been buying it for over a year now.
  30. barylkaq's avatar
I think Lidl have better dates for £3.79 500g currently
  31. TabassumYousufDyer's avatar
What is the country/ origin of the produce.
    isabela's avatar
    Israel
  32. memyselfandsomeone's avatar
anyone know if these are genuine Palestinian dates?
    MadeDixonsCry's avatar
Only two brands are: Zaytoun and Yaffa. (edited)
  33. Syed-Ali's avatar
So it’s all very misleading as the box doesn’t have any country of origin or name of the organisation however if the seller clearly states the dates are from Israel, then you have your answer. I have cancelled my orders. Thank you
  34. Myusernamehasgone234's avatar
Nice gift for Ramadan or Eid.

    Thanks for sharing
  35. isabela's avatar
I dont know why palestenian dates looks very dry & hard as compared to other countries dates in asda have anyone had good experience with these are they very soft & tasty
    Astec's avatar
Depends on how old they are, Yaffa put a 2 year + BBE on, and they don't stay soft that long. Try Zaytoun, 6 month BBE and they're always fresh. Are a bit more but are 100% Palestinian and Fairtrade so worth it on something most people only buy once a year.
  36. haiderinho's avatar
    Great deal.
  37. 1AKY's avatar
Why pics of 2 different boxes?

    Ramadan vibes
  39. Bigfootpete's avatar
That's a good saving but still that's expensive for a snack. Wonder if anyone actually pays £40.
    mkara's avatar
We usually buy the premium jumbo medjool dates for £50-60. Can't beat them for taste and freshness. I'd rather buy them more fresh and ethically. And if I I cutoff afford those, I would either get the the cheaper ones from the ethical companies or not get them at all.

Plenty of other snacks available if we can't get them
  40. fatboyonadiet's avatar
A standard price of these seems to be £10-12 a kg, so this is great at about half the norm in Asian shops
